Katie on CBeebies

BootyMum · 29/07/2011 15:20

I have a 2 year old and a 6 month old. We spend far too much of our days with CBeebies on, either watching a particular show or it just being on in the background

Have come to realise over a period of time that I cannot bear the presenter Katie. My God she is irritating with her OTT fake cheeriness/wackiness, smug smile and patronising manner. Her "I can cook" song with it's "slippy dippy soap" makes me want to ram said soap in her face!

I read another poster describing her as being like the school's head girl gurning at you from the corner of your living room. Absolutely.

I obviously have no life because this is what is getting my goat this Friday afternoon.

Grin @ "the sodding pandas". To be fair they are a bit shit though aren't they? Hardly Gordon the Gopher. Not even Edd the Duck.....

tethersend · 29/07/2011 19:28

Someone on here pointed out that Andy looks like Fatima Whitbread and I can't look at him anymore without imagining him in a dress on A Question of Sport.

Cerrie does indeed have a daughter. She lives near me, and when I first moved here with baby DD I saw her on the bus; her DD is about the same age as mine. I didn't know who she was as I'd never watched CBeebies (halcyon days) and I had a nice chat with her about facilities in the area. She was really friendly. All was going well until she went to get off the bus and, like a twat, I asked her if she needed a hand.

She just looked at me with pity. I don't blame her.

hester · 29/07/2011 19:29

We like Sid best. Also Andy, Chris, Pui and Cerrie.

When my godson was little he bumped into Sid and Sarah Jane at the BBC. Sid was absolutely lovely - made a big fuss of him - but Sarah Jane was a bit of a snot. That's it: she had her chance and blew it, and now will never ever be forgiven Grin

BootyMum · 29/07/2011 19:36

Oh Chris and Pui are fantastic.

The 2 year old LOVES Show Me, Show Me. The minute it comes on he starts yelling "Mummy Chris man [and] Pui!" Grin

He's also started joining in doing the 'groovy moves'... We both dance like loons when the music comes on Blush

I like Cerrie, and I LOVE Chris and Pui. (Was wondering if Pui's floaty tops on the latest Show Me series had anything to do with attempting to conceal a bump!). And another vote for Sid and Andy.
My dd seems equally happy with any of them, so CBeebies is watched according to what I can cope with rather than her preferences! It's Show Me Show Me and Something Special over Same Smile every time!

babybythesea · 29/07/2011 19:38

Don't be ashamed of your Groovy Moves - dance with pride.
The only thing that ever occurs to me somtimes is that if we are dancing close enough to the window to be seen from the street, then my dd is below the level of the window which means I can be seen dancing enthusiastically round the room clutching a teddy bear, apparently alone. Ah well, I expect it puts off doorstep callers....

InstantAtom · 29/07/2011 19:38

I like Katie, Nisha, Cerrie, in fact I like all the CBeebies presenters that I can think of.

Of course they are OTT, that's what children's presenters do. The kids love it and let's face it, we parents are not the target audience!

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 19:43

tethers Grin

DirtyMartini · 29/07/2011 19:44

We do the groovy moves too. And I too can be seen from the street, apparently alone. Not a pretty sight, I imagine.

ChristinedePizan · 29/07/2011 19:52

I only like Sid and Andy. Why do the women all have such a scary rictus grin? Actually I don't mind Nina and she grins like a loon. But Nisha, Katie and Cerrie look like they'd be very irritating company in the pub.

Alex is weird and Justin gives me the creeps.

We don't dance to groovy moves here but we do dance to the Number Rap Blush

InstantAtom · 29/07/2011 19:55

Why are all the presenters young? There's no reason why they have to be. Bring back the likes of Tony Hart!

PirateDinosaur · 29/07/2011 20:01

Alex is 34 (OK, younger than me, but not "young" precisely) and Sid is in his early forties.

PirateDinosaur · 29/07/2011 20:02

(and in discovering Sid's age have also confirmed that he also has at least one child)

PirateDinosaur · 29/07/2011 20:03

(Bring back Derek Griffiths!)

pictish · 29/07/2011 20:05

I like them all apart from Katie - I feel exactly the same OP. Unbearable woman.

Sid is HOT.

ChristinedePizan · 29/07/2011 20:08

I have googled sid to my shame Blush He is very happily married and lives in Brighton :o

BootyMum · 29/07/2011 20:13

Sid is lovely... I definitely would.

Quite partial to Chris from Show Me, Show Me too although have wondered if he might be gay? Think it's the make-up they put on him, sometimes he looks a little like a showgirl Grin

OP posts:
pictish · 29/07/2011 20:16

Chris deffo gay.

Mr Bloom - also HOT.

smokinaces · 29/07/2011 20:16

I was never too keen on Katie - until we went to her roadshow in the Easter Holidays. She was fantastic - an hour of her dancing and singing on stage, and interacting with the kids. She then came out and had photos of her with each individual child as well and chatted to them all. She was really lovely, both DSs fell in love with her.

perplexedpirate · 29/07/2011 20:41

Katie is very head-girly. She looks like she'd organise you into a hockey match if you let guard down for a second.

I like Chris and Pui and Cerrie and Andy and Sid.

MrsWembley · 29/07/2011 21:02

Katie - annoying but bearable;
Chris & Pui - annoying and I'd turn off if my DD didn't love the programme (DP has just suggested that she doesn't appear to be at all maternal and I think I agree);
Nisha - want to slap her... hard;
Mister Maker - needs to be put in a straight jacket and shut in a padded room until he calms the fuck down;
Justin - love him, as does my DDSmile

FingandJeffing · 29/07/2011 22:04

Why is Cerrie not on so much? Anyway we love Cerrie. Don't like Katie she is annoying.

babybythesea · 29/07/2011 22:08

MrsWembley - God, I'd forgotten about Mr Maker - pass the man some tranquilisers!
Really not too sure about the Kwizz guy either.

So it's not that I like the blokes and dislike the women. I just don't like Nisha!

And another one who is firmly in love with Justin!

TartyMcFarty · 29/07/2011 22:14

I have a crush on Vagina Andy and won't have a word said against him.

Pui has seemed a bit lethargic on this series.

Once read on here that someone's DH thought Katie looks dead behind the eyes and have seen her that way.ever.since.

Who is that awful woman on Come Outside?

TartyMcFarty · 29/07/2011 22:16

Blush Blush Blush Vagina should read Fatima (obvs Grin) with ref to Tethers earlier post. Bloody bloody autocorrect!
