To wonder why people let themselves get fat?

I am frequently amazed at the number of women at 15/17/20 stone who suddenly realise how fat they are and want to do something about it.
Why do people let themselves get so fat? It's unhealthy, unsightly and very life limiting.
Why not just keep an eye on your weight and keep it nice and steady?

If only it were that easy op! You've got the right username.

scaryteacher · 17/05/2011 09:16

I expect because one is a long time dead without cheese, chocolate, alcohol, clotted cream, and all the nice things that make life worth living.

cannydoit · 17/05/2011 09:16

hahahaha you knob

GooseyLoosey · 17/05/2011 09:16

Self hatred and apathy.

AKMD · 17/05/2011 09:17

I'm 10 and a bit stone, don't fit in my pre-baby clothes, BMI leaning towards overweight. I'm not what anyone would call fat but I used to run cross-country and want to get back to that, but not as much as I want to get a decent sleep.

Hammy02 · 17/05/2011 09:17

Why do people have anorexia? Bulimia? Those silly billies. Biscuit

kickingking · 17/05/2011 09:19

Oh, you are going to get such a pasting....

chandellina · 17/05/2011 09:19

i'm sure i read this same question a couple of weeks ago here.

izzybiz · 17/05/2011 09:20

There are all sorts of reasons people put on weight. An addiction to food is the worst thing, to give up cigarettes, alcohol etc you can go cold turkey, you have to eat, not as simple.
If things were as simple as you seem to think there would be no problem.

Have a Biscuit and get over yourself!

Judgeywedgiepants · 17/05/2011 09:20

Is being fat a recognised medical condition like bulimia, then? Hmm

cory · 17/05/2011 09:20

Wouldn't say I am fat, but my weight has certainly increased since I found myself spending more time at home caring for a disabled child. 14 years of broken nighs aren't great for your metabolism either. Wouldn't say I feel self-hatred, though. Should I?

Judgeywedgiepants · 17/05/2011 09:21

I'm not talking about being a bit podgey I'm talking about seriously fat people weighing 16/20 stone.

WHY in earth would you let yourself get like that? Do people have no self respect or self discipline?

I am frequently amazed at the number of women who are massive twats who suddenly realise what massive twats they are and want to do something about it.
Why do people let themselves get turn into massive twats? It's unhealthy, unsightly and very life limiting.
Why not just stop being a massive twat or stay or off the internet?

Hammy02 · 17/05/2011 09:21

Having issues with food is having issues with food OP. Gawd. Read a book.

Well its nice for you to be so perfect and have no flaws isnt't it OP

zingzillachinchilla · 17/05/2011 09:23

I do hope your post is deliberately provocative because you are conducting some complicated research into unconscious response to food in vulnerable parts of the population. Nope? Oh well, in that case, can't you find something more useful to entertain you?

msbuggywinkle · 17/05/2011 09:23

I'm fat because I'm a recovering bulimic. Silly me for managing to stop myself throwing up everything I eat.

bupcakesandcunting · 17/05/2011 09:24

I often wonder how some people become such certifiable cunts that they fail to have any empathy with people in a shitty situation and how they even get through life without people wanting to smack them repeatedly in the face.

Can you answer that one, OP?

BarbarianMum · 17/05/2011 09:24

You sound just like my mum. She also wonders why people have drink problems (just stop at 1), drug problems (just say no), run into financial problems (you just have to budget) and find themselves in serial relationships with unsuitable men (sigh).

It's called lack of empathy and usually goes an ability to recognise ones own faults and weaknesses. What do you think?

pickyourbrain · 17/05/2011 09:24

I have pondered how someone's mind works who gets really fat, in the same way i have pondered about what state a person's mind must be in to get too skinny, or self harm etc etc. It's normal to be curious of how other people live their lives and the choices they make.

However, OP, the way you worded your post makes you sound very shallow and incredibly naive.

izzybiz is right. Dieting is the hardest thing because you have to eat. It's not like giving up cigarettes.

Judgeywedgiepants · 17/05/2011 09:24

So all fat people have a medical condition/food addiction/eating disorder, then?

That's one helluva lot of ill people.

OP posts:
HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/05/2011 09:25

It's people like you who make my life miserable.

CareyFakes · 17/05/2011 09:26

Surprisingly, some people don't realise they are getting that fat until something happens...fuckmuncher.
