FunnysInTheGarden · 13/05/2011 23:16

just joined NM for the piss take of it. My first post was littered in . I posted on chat about this and apparently MN are NOT amused Grin

SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 13/05/2011 23:18

I have moved my post to the mumsnet is thread I feel better now

SoFluffyImGonnaDie · 13/05/2011 23:21

Hmm mumsnet does not let me put stars in instead of swearing we have a reverse swear filter :)

Bohica · 13/05/2011 23:24

It's late. I need links

confuddledDOTcom · 13/05/2011 23:38

Thank you Summer. I think they're totally missing the point that it's not about wishing for a sick child or not wishing for a healthy one but the "as long as it's healthy nothing else matters" I can't help but wonder how many will find themselves in Holland one day and realise how hurtful those words are.

amberleaf · 13/05/2011 23:48

I thought about posting the welcome to holland poem, but as they seem to have missed the point we were making it would be wasted on them.

It amazes me how they just agree with each other dispite the fact that they dont seem to even get what each other is saying, its like chinese whispers- or a poster will pop up and explain what a previous poster meant!

The OP on that thread is conspicuous by her absence, i wonder if she got what she needed ?

confuddledDOTcom · 13/05/2011 23:50

"A family site"??? Why would 13 year olds be on NetMums??? And 13 year olds know how to swear, what's it protecting them from to have the words out?

amberleaf · 13/05/2011 23:53

OOh Op is back on there and shes having a girl Smile Im pleased for her.

confuddledDOTcom · 13/05/2011 23:54

I'm glad someone knew what I meant earlier Smile

Has it got much worse over there? I'm still managing to avoid that thread.

I'm not surprised she's not come back TBH, she'll get stick whatever the outcome Sad

confuddledDOTcom · 13/05/2011 23:55

Cross post, hope I'm wrong Confused

Is it worth pointing out that it's thought that the woman does have more to do with the sex than the man? Wink

amberleaf · 14/05/2011 00:00

Its not so bad on that thread now, just the typical banal 'lets all agree with each other hun hun hun hun and stand up to the people with different opinions bullies' shite

The OP didnt respond to our point, just cherry picked a few things to respond to. usual crap.

Fuck 'em.

confuddledDOTcom · 14/05/2011 00:27

Careful, you might upset our 13 year old members!

IRCL · 14/05/2011 01:32

Uh oh. I am on both! I have to agree though, the MODS on there seem to tell you off for swearing but leave the racist, homophobic, downright fucking stupid comments alone.

There was a couple of threads the other day I was called nasty because I don't think you should wean a 6 week old. Then some woman said women who dress in a revealing manner are basically asking to be attacked. This is coming from actual women. I couldn't believe it!

I think I recognise a few posters on this thread actually, but wont say as probably got it wrong. Blush

Madam - I know exactly who you are on about with regards to the religion/BNP topics. Don't think she is around anymore, the last time she was she had a breakdown because of what some members had said to her. Confused

I also don't get the swear filter, I cannot say bitch but can say knob? Also how can you bypass a swear filter?

I do love a good fucking smiley though. Grin

tigercametotea · 14/05/2011 01:40

I went on there once or twice and the amount of pink and neon glitter/twinkling icons/emoticons there made my head spin straight away. Needless to say, I haven't felt the inclination to return.

madhattershouse · 14/05/2011 01:41

I got a telling off for putting in rather than swear word...they said do not try to bypass the swear filter! I know a few nm's who are on here...they are more prolific on here for a reason..I mean I never even actually swore and still got told off...I'm not a kid!!

madhattershouse · 14/05/2011 01:43

Somehow the * got left out....meant to say I put in s*t rather than a swear word (trying that as all stars seems to dissapear on this forum)

IRCL · 14/05/2011 01:46

They are a bit power crazy over there them mods.

confuddledDOTcom · 14/05/2011 12:47

There's lots of ways to bypass a swear filter. I'm on a forum that doesn't care if we do and have turned some of the words off that we asked for (it's rather offensive to every female ever to have breast filtered!) it's usually adding *s in or special characters eg != i/l or $ = s or ( = c. You can always find something if you look.

I'm still chuckling at the 13 year olds who use the site being offended. Do none of them spend time in a secondary school playground? I have to admit I haven't for awhile but I'm not so old I can't remember what it was like!

Summerbird73 · 14/05/2011 14:38

what i dont get about the 13 year olds is that, they are allowed on - ok, but also that it is a site to discuss pregnancy and motherhood only Hmm well for one they are not the only topics discussed and two - why the fuck would a 13 year old be discussing pregnancy (or am i just sheltered!!)

confuddledDOTcom · 14/05/2011 16:58

I told my OH about this last night and he agrees. He has four children (two from each relationship) and all of them have their health problems. His first two both needed operations to fix things that didn't work from birth, then there's our eldest who was premature without steroids so her immature systems don't work properly, our youngest was born premature with steroids but had IUGR and it's not just a pregnancy condition, it's likely to affect the rest of her life. So for him "as long as" they're healthy nothing else matters isn't something he can say.

They're four of the loveliest children, all got their brains in the right place, their health is just an aside!

alwaysleftout · 14/05/2011 17:41

Is Lottie back on NM's then? I liked her. She was good for a laugh on a Fri night with a bottle of wine. Fekkin nutter Grin

mymummyisasquarehead · 14/05/2011 19:47

I have been a NM'er for years and have only recently discovered MN and I really wish I had a lot, lot sooner!!

I think I have figured out who some of you former/current NM'ers are.

The religious, passive-aggressive loon - Sarah G, used to PM me telling me all about her problems! Why, I never knew?!

They are way too quick to ban someone who dares to use even a 'minor' swear word, but leave posts/threads with all sorts of utter claptrap on there!!!

I still use it a bit, but not half as much as I used to!

thefirstMrsDeVere · 15/05/2011 09:28

Dont get me started on that woman. Please. This is a SG free zone.

Do you remember when Lottie came and tried her tricks in MNs. BEST THREAD EVER!
Hilarious. She was game mind you and kept going for about 7 pages but her nonsense just didnt work and she had no Mods to cry 'bully' to.

I laughed my ass off at that one.

magicmummy1 · 15/05/2011 12:37

I remember that thread with lottie. Bigoted nutter!

As for SG, I agree, MN should be an SG free zone...

alwaysleftout · 15/05/2011 17:18

What was the thread about Mrs Devere? Was it BNP by any chance?
