They are ugly things, no? Just been on a walk and noticed how many houses there are with them round here, often in every window. Why would you have them when there are so many nice fabrics around? Or am I missing something?

I think vertical blinds are ugly.

Having said that, I find this lower middle class prejudice against voiles really baffling; most royal homes and many family seats have them. I say that, just in case it's a "class anxiety" thing.

Disclaimer: I'm foreign and I think light, sheer curtains blowing in the wind are beautiful.

Livia, goodness knows! I didn't notice it was zombie, just typed in vertical blinds to ask about whether or not they need pelmets! Sorry

Oh oh please help me then. I'm not a fan as they are very dated IMHO. However, we are having dark wood (black or anthracite) venetian blinds in our 4 (yes, weird sitting room) windows and I don't know what to put over the patio doors. Currently long curtains but it's all a bit crap tbh. I thought some long tasteful grey vertical blinds as the patio doors are also in anthracite. I'm not great at interiors but it's a dated house and I'm gradually updating it...blinds are going in as we are having the windows replaced which is not a moment too soon. The old windows are terrible and don't fit...effing freezing in winter.

Anyway, the new patio doors are trifold and bifold as there are two sets. Can add pics if you like.
