Just wondering really, how long have you had your mumsnet name?
How did you choose it?
Do you get upset or angry if someone else has a similar name to yours or posters sometimes mistake you for another poster.

Do you feel that you "own" your name and no one should have one that sounds the same.
Do you blush if your name gets googled? Grin

Also are some names more stand out then others? And what happens when a few posters have the same type of name, Eg

Mummyone mommy1 sort of thing

ZuzuBailey · 05/03/2011 21:43

I change name regularly because I get bored using the same one.

Zuzu Bailey is the little girl in It's a Wonderful Life - one of my favourite films.

I really wanted the name ZuzusPetals but it was taken Sad but doesn't seem to have ever been used Confused

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 05/03/2011 21:43

I get more confused by whomovedmychocolate than the other nomore names. Everytime I see her name I feel like I'm going to be accused of stealing her chocolate, when actually my name is supposed to be a constant personal reminder that eating DH's choc biscuits won't help me loose weight (wasn't pg when I picked this name).

There is another nomore due to have a baby a week before me which I quite like Grin

ChaoticAngelofAnarchy · 05/03/2011 21:57

I found this site in 2009, can't remember if I actually joined in Dec 2009/Jan 2010. I've had this name for a few months now, at first it was just the first half then I added the second bit later on.

I think it describes me perfectly just now, a chaotic person living in the land (house) of the chaotic Grin

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 05/03/2011 21:59

Opps, lose weight. Loose weight is just my arm flab really.

RunAwayWife · 05/03/2011 22:04

Dragon get back in the cupboard, nutty will be mad at you Grin

Bathsheba · 05/03/2011 22:48

I picked my favourite character out of on of my favourite Thomas Hardy books.

I used to be Alderney (after my favourite Womble) but people thought I was from Alderney and tended to ask me about that (I've never been there so couldn;t answer...)

There has recently appeared a QueenBathsheba but she isn't me..

GibberingGinger · 05/03/2011 22:59

I've tried a couple of name changes but as I mostly post on a postnatal thread and a lot of people know me there so it's difficult to get changes to stick.

I'm not ginger by the way - it's the name of a beer. But it helps add to the subterfuge. Apart from the part where I have revealed all sorts of details about my life on the postnatal thread that makes me easily identifiable to anyone who knows me in real life so subterfuge it a bit pointless. Maybe that should be my new name - subterfugeispointless, I quite like that

zingzillachinchilla · 05/03/2011 23:02

Had this name for a while now, only had one previously and it was far too twee! This one doesn't suit me especially but have grown to love it. Tends to get shortened to zing, which I like.

Inertia · 05/03/2011 23:09

I picked this name because I have a tendency to carry on doing what I am already doing unless a resultant force acts. And I have considerable mass.

Haven't seen it used as a name by anyone else ( though I am a newbie). It often crops up in threads as a reason for undesirable behavioural traits though. It would be nice to see more physics-based names, though physics vocabulary doesn't really lend itself to clever sweary-based spoonerisms ( magnetic flux may offer something to work with?)

SalandersBro · 05/03/2011 23:15

if this woman had a brother....

Samedi · 05/03/2011 23:47

I joined in 2007 with a different name, then I have a name I use when asking/posting embarressing stuff! Became Samedi because I wanted a fresh start (I joined originally to get advice about my then horrible nanny job, I didn't want to be that person anymore!). Samedi came from the fact I was moving to France and had a book which came with a CD French course open when casting around for a name. Seems to fit! Though am thinking of changing it to nanny something, cos thats what I am!

BreconBeBuggered · 06/03/2011 00:02

Mine's a random phrase I read in an exercise book once many years ago. I don't live in Brecon. I'd get pissed off to see a variant of it, but it's not likely to happen. I have another username on a different site that I'm very attached to and that nobody else was using anywhere. Then one day someone asked me if some really wanky blog someone was posting using the same name was mine. I was mortally offended.

TheSleepFairy · 06/03/2011 00:12

I've had mine since I joined but I have been a mega lurker until Novemberish time.

I like sleep & we had Ben & Holly on the tv when I signed up, I was tired & little Holly fairy was flying about on the tv.

I've had a few ishoos & posted under another name but they are not secret & can easily be found if you are bored enough inclined to have a dig around.

Shodan · 06/03/2011 00:13

Mine is what I am. I became it 18 months ago and was so ridiculously proud of myself that I changed my nn to celebrate.

Besides my previous nn made it too diffcult for people to agree on a shortened version.

As far as I know there are no other similar names.

Mine is from the first thread I really interacted with people on. It was a trivial little fun thread, obviously, but I liked being 'seen' and kept it. It is rubbish for punning seasonal changes though.

BitOfFun · 06/03/2011 00:25

Oh, and I like it being shortened to BOF, but when I tried to register that, it was taken. I have never seen the actual BOF post though. I suspect they no longer want to....
