Just wondering really, how long have you had your mumsnet name?
How did you choose it?
Do you get upset or angry if someone else has a similar name to yours or posters sometimes mistake you for another poster.

Do you feel that you "own" your name and no one should have one that sounds the same.
Do you blush if your name gets googled? Grin

Also are some names more stand out then others? And what happens when a few posters have the same type of name, Eg

Mummyone mommy1 sort of thing

undercovamutha · 05/03/2011 20:42

BALD - thanks for letting me know. After all these years you are the first person to tell me that! Will have to make sure I make it VERY clear that I am not her .

BornThisWayBaby · 05/03/2011 20:42

I've just changed my name, was bored of the other one, I'm not known on here anyway so no biggie Grin

meditrina · 05/03/2011 20:43

Also new, and am really enjoying finding out about the stories of the names.

I chose this name as Meditrina is the Roman goddess of wine and health, and I thought that would fit in.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 05/03/2011 20:44

undercova - yes, 'UCM, is that you?' comes up quite often on threads, even now.

perhaps a rearranging namechange?

WincyEtNightietilMayBeOut · 05/03/2011 20:46

undercoveamutha, "UCM is that you?" (failed namechange issue) is right up there in the MN 50 Funniest Moments list. So people probably don't think you are her as such, just enjoying being able to say it Smile

AmazingBouncingFerret · 05/03/2011 20:46

I namechanged to this when they released the HP and the deathly hallows book. Only one poster seems to remember my original name. She's my resident stalker. Grin

meditrina · 05/03/2011 20:48

I thought the Amazing Bouncing Ferret was in Goblet of Fire. Then again I've an unhealthy interest in Tom Felton, and get easily confused.

bigbeagleeyes · 05/03/2011 20:51

All my passwords are pet related. I have a beagle cross and 2 cats.
And he does have the most beautiful eyes.
He's got lovely flopsy ears too but I thought that nickname lacked a certain gravitas.

Flisspaps · 05/03/2011 20:53

I was something else but then changed to Flisspaps following a thread about incorporating rude phrases into names.

Iggly · 05/03/2011 20:54

Well I was igglybuff then shortened it to Iggly as thats what some call me. I've only been on MN for about 16 months but feels like forever! (in a good way)

thefirstMrsDeVere · 05/03/2011 20:55

I changed mine on a bit of whim. I always bang on about the same things though so people usually realise who I am after about five minutes.

I chose this name because I was being all literary. I was named after a Daphne DuMaurier book. It was after about a week that I got a cold feeling in the pit of my stomach as I realised my (very none literary) mistake.

That will teach me to have airs.

Honeydragon · 05/03/2011 20:55

I had one other name then changed to this and have stuck with it, lots of other dragons around though.

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 05/03/2011 20:55

ive been here a year or so, and toyed with a couple of namesto start with, but finally settled with Saggy. I love Bagpuss, and the saggy/old parts relate to me quite nicely. the name fits like a glove, and I can usually work out a seasonal variation. Ive seen another saggy, and another catpuss, and I got all miffed! Unreasonable I know, as for all I know they might have been here first!
I love the rude names, Bupcakesandcunting and caininthepunt is my favourites.

MaureenMLove · 05/03/2011 20:55

I've been me since 2007.

When and if people inbox me, they are suprised that I'm not actually called Maureen! Grin

I do turn, when people call Maureen in the supermarket though! Grin

Saggyoldclothcatpuss · 05/03/2011 20:56

are my favourites!

practicallyimperfect · 05/03/2011 21:02

I've had this a few months. My mum always used to say she was practically perfect, so this fit me. I have noticed some similar ones around.

LetsgoflyaBlatherskite · 05/03/2011 21:15

I remember your original name ABF

Confused
Spammead · 05/03/2011 21:16

I have been here coming up for two years.

For most of that time I was Psammead, chosen because I was reading Five Children and It.

Before that I was Mrs+my first name, but I realised that this was a bit... 'frowned upon' on here, so I went with something more original.

Now I am Spammead because another user told me that's how she reads Psammead.

I like short names, or long ones where the different words are distinguished by capitals.

Love the user names OTheHugeManatee and FangoForTheMammories.

I did come across another user with Psammead in her name, which was fun. Was a bit concerned that people would think it was me with a name change, but I don't suppose it would have occured to anyone!

scottishmummy · 05/03/2011 21:18

been scottishmummy since joined.no other names (why would i?)
chose it because its self explanatory.i am a scottish mummy
dont know if any similar names on mn,wouldn't care if any similar.why would i?
how would i know if my mn name was googled?no reason to blush
dont look at or recall names so dont know of anyone has samey names or not

LemonDifficult · 05/03/2011 21:24

I've been LemonDifficult for a while now. If you google it you get lot of references to In The Loop.

I have loads of other MN names on the go at the same time. One for one type of work, one for another job I do and have asked advice on, one for personal relationship-sy type things, one just cause it amuses me, some seasonal ones and so one. LemonDifficult is my default one though. I used to be SpeccieSeccie quite a bit and that suited me.

I joined in 2006 and it would be sort of fun to have kept the same name and built up a bit of a MN profile and history and so on but that comes with hassle too. I never really want people to pin me down to what I said before as I'm very flighty!

There are a few Lemons. There's a TeamLemon on the TSA thread. Can't say I feel the fruitbowl's overcrowded though.

MissMarjoribanks · 05/03/2011 21:26

I am named after the eponymous heroine of the novel by Mrs Oliphant. I have various other monikers which I use when I want to be more anonymous. I'm not a prolific poster, but the Manchester lot know me.

There are various other literary names on MN - my favourite is Lady Glencora Palliser, I would have had that if it hadn't already been taken. I toyed with SirFelixCarbury, but didn't want people to think I was a bloke.

My fave names are the rude ones and the astonishingly clever ones I would never have the intellect or imagination to come up with in a million years.

DogsAreLikeBoys · 05/03/2011 21:27

This is my Stalker Name...

Spammead · 05/03/2011 21:31

I also like names which evolve over time. The stay recognisable, but change a little.

pinkthechaffinch · 05/03/2011 21:38

I've had this one for a few years.

It comes from a short story in a wide range reader book I liked as a child.

I used to be JoeyBettany when I first joined and I have to admit to feeling a bit Hmm when I notice a poster called Jo Bettany!
