Multiculturalism has failed

Now whilst i believe the debate itself has merit ( though think that DC has put a rather disturbing anti islamic slant on it)

When I heard DC's speech, I could not believe how brave he had been in expressing what so many people in this country feel right now.
I am glad that, at last, a political leader has had the guts to say it like it is and not worry about upsetting the PC brigade.
I have always voted Labour, but DC has shown that he is not to be messed with. Good on him, I say. It's about time someone spoke up, before all christians in this country become a minority.

Argue all you want but there is a certain core of muslims who choose to live here and yet reject our way of life. You still have families who will send their children back to pakistan to marry, live in muslim areas and refuse to mix or let their children mix.

yes a SMALL minority of Muslims dislike the UK etc etc but gues what, and this might shock you, a small MINORITY of Irish immigrants, Jews, British Christians, Gay people, BNP members, Lefties , catholics, etc etc ALSO dislike the UK and it's values and want to change them

I'm guessing you live in an affluent, majority white area where you don't even see someone with a different skin colour in your every day life. Try living in East London for 6 months, might open your eyes a bit.

I Live in Birmingham Bringnbuy so don't try and pull the 'well I LIVE with it daily' card :) I work in with Muslims, I socialise with people of many different faiths and beliefs - I do not feel anything but happy about that :)

This is an odd thread.

All nations are multicultural; all nations have good and bad parts to their culture. It is rather strange to reject British culture entirely when it is rich and diverse. Neither is it sensible to suggest people entirely drop the rich and diverse culture they have links to by descent.

I don't think there are very many people who do reject British culture. Even if there were a lot of people like this, what is David Cameron actually suggesting is done about it?

Is he suggesting that more British culture is studied in schools? I don't see a need for that, as there is a huge amount about British culture already taught in schools. So what exactly is he suggesting the Government will do. It seems to me he is just rambling on.

gordy - there are other people in the uk who dislike the values, yes, i am one of them however there aren't militant spin offs who you see on news at 10 waving placards with hate filled literature or burning british flags screaming hate into crowds, i think this makes a difference and has created fear among alot of british people. to worry about the fact that some of them, as few as they may be, are prepared to take their hate to such lengths

Hate filled literature is damaging but part of living in a democratic society (I have to sufffer BNP crap through my door) - we can counteract it with reason or panic and finger pointing - I prefer reason
