Multiculturalism has failed

Now whilst i believe the debate itself has merit ( though think that DC has put a rather disturbing anti islamic slant on it)
I do not think it the wisest day to do so given that there is a planned march by the English Defence League (think BNP with more hair) today

i could think of a good way for some of the immigrants to fit in - try and control those racist views about how british girls are as not all british girls are that way. i mean it, one post inparticular has a clear dislike of english females, if she feels such hate she will never want to or make any effort to have anything to do with anyone outside of her clique, her son included. it is not healthy to live in a country when you have snooty views of the countrys english females

If you google 'Christian Terrorism' there is a lot of info. Terrorism is generally driven by religion, but is not specific to certain religions.

lady - you said on a previous thread something on the line of how close you were with people among your 'own kind', how important it was to be nice etc. so for someone such as yourself who clearly has it in you to be so nice, how can you be so totally unwanting to be nice with anyone outside of your own group. that is the impression you give and you appear to be proud of it. that is so incredibly racist and offensive, that you cannot see why you should have to have anything to do with anyone white/english. i wouldn;t dream of not having anything to do with anyone that wasn't white and certainly wouldn't be so vocal about it. and i am white british, i am proud that i have relations with people across the board and yet you think people like ME are racist, pot and kettle come to mind

That is not an answer Mrsgetonwithit - what is it about foreigners that you don't like, based on your lack of experience? I live in predominantly white middle class area, we have small pockets of asains, my experience is that they are polite and genuine and well, just like me. My mums neighbours are asian, they are great, they are muslims - but despite what i would believe if i only believed the media, they are not religeous zealots, they aren't even what i would call devout - kids the same age of my DD, just like my DD, really fun, bit naughty and wild like my DD.

I'm a catholic, if your only experience of catholicism was watching the Da Vinci code you would assume that i can't function without daily confession and self flaggelation!

I've done this arguement before so I'm not going to repeat it as I'll get myself bored - if you google how is islamic terrorism different from the troubles in Ireland - or something in that style it will give you all the answers as to why apart from one or two similarities they have nothing in common with one another!!!

chibi, i think the christian religeon is historically one of the most vicious. But i am a catholic, sometimes i go to church, sometimes i don't i haven't a clue beyond its teachings to love one's neighbour and turning the other cheek. But historically its not like that - just think Thomas a becket - two factions of the same religeon murdering each other.

This is why religeon has to be put to one side, we have our beliefs, but they don't have to inerfere with our day to day interactions.

We sould be moving towards a secularised moral code that means we consider the affects of our actions on others and take steps to enure that those affects are positive.

Firstly, we have the poster that turns up and calls anyone with a concern about immigration racist, then the ugly ignorant posters turn up and say something incendiary and it gets worse from then on in.

YEs soft but you fail to understand that some people will not put religion to one side, they want to have their beliefs and eventually, if not today, they want you to have their beliefs too..........

Betty, according to some on this thread they actually seriously believe that all on EU immigrants are liars (Dobie). It is ridiculous because as you said there are good and bad in every section of society. Some have been reading too much Daily Mail/The Sun etc.

well dobie, you never know do you - maybe if i do visit an open day at a mosque i might just read around the religeon decide they have the right idea and convert to islam! Stranger things have happened!! Personally though, i think the Bhuddists have alot to offer and would probably be my first choice if i were to change religeon
