Multiculturalism has failed

Now whilst i believe the debate itself has merit ( though think that DC has put a rather disturbing anti islamic slant on it)
I do not think it the wisest day to do so given that there is a planned march by the English Defence League (think BNP with more hair) today

march in Luton

In that case I post in the tack room as part of a fantasy and the horse on my profile is a cartoon.

You are so weird to say such daft stuff. Are you jealous that I own a horse. Worried that I may be an immigrant and dare to have a luxury!? (I'm not an immigrant btw).

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 19:18

Mrs, care to explain which arguement I'm losing? Please point it out! Bet you can't!! lol.

giveitago · 06/02/2011 19:19

Oooh and dear clever son wants to 'pretend' I'm fat. But actually I think I am.

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 19:19

Thank goodness you cleared up the fact that you're not an immigrant? Confused I'm not jealous, I can't stand horses!!

chibi · 06/02/2011 19:20

I was referring to dobiegirl's bonkers stallion post, I still don't know what to make of it

Whether a person agrees or not with you giveitago you have at least been coherent Smile

ManateeEquineOhara · 06/02/2011 19:20

"I'm not losing any argument" That is one of those phrases that can only possibly be said with a 12 year old girl style whine!

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 19:21

then you probably are!! If you think it then you probably are!! that is how it works with sane people !!!!!

Mad people don't know they're mad!
fat people do!!!

chibi · 06/02/2011 19:22

Although I now have 'crazy horses' in my head heehee

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 19:22

but not by someone whose been rode by a stallion I'm afraid!!!

StarlightPrincess · 06/02/2011 19:22

I'd like to hear why Gordy thinks giveitago has a chip on her shoulder also.

mrsgetonwithit · 06/02/2011 19:23

I am out of here, I too am laughing out loud at some of the comments.

But the strange horse one well I do not know what to say about that one, has she got a dodgy porn channel on....i wonder.

Anyway I am out of here regardless, I have british roast beef to take out and carve and i might the the English flag out for a while.

giveitago · 06/02/2011 19:25

Erm the poster has been here ages but not now - but I guess it's because she's either doing dinner or bath and that's why she cannot answer.

Thankfully I don't accuse her of having a chip on shoulder.

Not my style - but then again I'm not a pc racist. Innit.

softglowsandmaybes · 06/02/2011 19:26

Oh my word - lololol well it couldnt have gone any otherway really could it

Whats with the horses, i don't get it Hmm

I used to ride horses, does that mean im a bit weird then?? jeez

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 19:28

I was just messing about Soft - lighten up- you angry little madam!! Wink

LadyOfTheManor · 06/02/2011 19:32

This is not something that the 'white Brits' have just made up to pick on Muslims. Yes, I know, we know, the whole world knows not all Muslims are like this. But a worrying group of them are, and can you blame people for being scared and fearful? Especially after the 7/7 bombing?

Weren't the 7/7 bombers BRITISH?
Star- IS your problem with other races or other religions, you tend to typecast all Muslims as being foreign, or are you confused between religion and nationality and race?

I really don't know what the way forward is- I wonder what do the indigenous (such as they are) Brits on this thread could identify what they think immigrants need to be doing in order to feel as though they belong

I'd also like answers to this.

softglowsandmaybes · 06/02/2011 19:33

mrsgetonwithit, you have expressed your views quite boldly, you are entitled to them of course, but as you say - you never a saw a black man til you were twenty (guffaw) when you went to big bad london - did you say you would never venture back? Just teasing, gotta go along with the madness, but seriously - what makes you have such strong opinions if you have no experience as such - im not trying to provoke an argument but i have never ever met a racist who has ever qualified their views to me, or even attempted to.

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 19:34

'fuck knows' - wasn't that childish?

Maybe the immigrants should tell us what they would like to do to feel like they belong more!!!

I'd love to hear some answers!!

dobiegirl · 06/02/2011 19:35

soft - maybe you've just never met a racist!!! LOL.

LadyOfTheManor · 06/02/2011 19:37

Dobie- I'm an immigrant, I speak the language and am well educated, I work here and pay taxes, surely that's all I need to be doing to "fit in"? I know that's a lot more than some British born people do.

gordyslovesheep · 06/02/2011 19:37

well the tongue in cheek chip comment was posted after the barely coherent post about inviting people to her house - I couldn;t make head nor tail of most if it but it seemed to focus on white people and 'only white people can be racist' which no one has said and some other odd stuff

sorry but gibbering ranty people DO seem to be slightly chippy :)

bettybosseye · 06/02/2011 19:37

I came on to mumsnet tonight ready to start a thread asking if i was BU to agree with DC's speech.
I am by no means a conservative party sympathiser and find racism and bigotry abhorrent in all it's forms but found myself agreeing with what DC was saying. A very strange feeling indeed!
These things do need to be talked about though, without fear of being accused of anything.

softglowsandmaybes · 06/02/2011 19:37

"I really don't know what the way forward is- I wonder what do the indigenous (such as they are) Brits on this thread could identify what they think immigrants need to be doing in order to feel as though they belong"

As a white "indiginous" Brit, i would like to answer this - i would like those with differing religeons to mine, coming into my local community, to tell us what they would like US to do to make them feel more welcome. I want people to talk to each other, openly without fear or suspicion and i can't understand why that is too much to ask. I'm listening......
