Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Thanks gomummy Smile Ds is a little bit nervous, i've just
run him a bath with radox to relax him & he will be having an early night
i'll get up at 6.30am to cook him a cooked breakfast as the exam starts
at 9.15am sharp.
I'm taking him out to his favourite restaurant after the exam is over for a treat.

Teaandcakeplease · 11/03/2011 20:28

(I haven't read back - sorry - too excited!!!!)

Hello all the people of this fine buddy bench - I am super cheerful now (having been beside myself with worry all day) because I have finally heard that my cousin, her DH and 3 DC are OK! They live in Tokyo!

So drinks all round

WineWineWineWineWineWine

CHEERS!

elmofan · 11/03/2011 22:29

Aww. Cheers candle Wine thank god they are safe.

gomummygo · 11/03/2011 22:36

Aw Elmo, that sounds great for DS. He is lucky to have such a great mum. Hope he has a good night's sleep tonight.

Cheers Candle Wine, you must be relieved. Some pretty scary scenes coming out of there.

I have a question for the benchers - The Bay (big retailer here) is now going to have Topshop/Topman, which is apparently a UK-based retailer, think it is clothing? As a former absolute fashionista turned jeans-and-chunky-sweater gal, I am curious as to what this is?

Teaandcakeplease · 11/03/2011 22:46

Thank goodness candle.

Browse their website GoMummy? It's here: www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopCategoriesDisplay?storeId=12556&catalogId=33057

I tend to shop nowadays in dorothy perkins and evans, as I'm boring Blush

Teaandcakeplease · 11/03/2011 22:55

3 hrs for a 10/11 yr old? Eek! I remember doodling and making patterns on my multiple choice paper at about that age in junior school, instead of answering the questions properely Blush

OP posts:
elmofan · 11/03/2011 23:12

Grin tea

well i think 3 hours is pushing it for any childs attention span tbh
although over here they go into secondary school at
11/12 years of age.

CheerfulYank · 12/03/2011 02:31

Oh my gosh Candle, I'm soooo glad! How horrible. It's so awful not to know; I remember when the towers fell and we couldn't reach my aunt and uncle for hours. Terrible!

I love Jack tiredmum. Also am quite taken with (ahem) Sam :o, Peter, and Oliver.

Gomummy if I ever do win the lottery you'll be the first to know! :)

CheerfulYank · 12/03/2011 02:32

I'm so excited for your DS Elmo. You tell him Cheerful says not to take any crap at the new school, hear? (Puts on well hard facade face) :o

elmofan · 12/03/2011 16:44

Thanks Cheerful Smile

Well ds's exam ended up in overtime as it didn't end until almost 1pm Hmm so he was very tired but he thinks it went ok [hopeful emoticon]
He has one more exam to sit on the 2nd of April .
X was there & got himself into trouble by trying to have a go at another boy Shock[other boy apparently tipped off x passing him by Confused ds said the head threatened to cancel x's exam paper if he caused any more trouble .

So whats everyone up to this weekend ?

I have a friend in Japan who keeps posting about the after shocks - really awful Sad

I was reading about the harbour in Santa cruz being in a terrible state - my sister lives only 5 mins from there. I will ring her in a minute and get the low down. Apparently it's been declared a state of emergency. Eeeek!

candleshoe · 12/03/2011 19:49

3 hours sounds like a tough exam Elmo!
Have you settled on Jack Tiredmum? My god son is Jack he's a terror lovely boy.
Fingers crossed for your sister valium.

LibraPoppyGirl · 13/03/2011 00:27

Hello Everyone

I'm on here late tonight. Having a relaxing evening, been a quiet day for me and I'm feeling okay.

Having a lot of trouble with oedema in my feet, ankles and legs. Bit in the fingers, but that comes and goes. I've also got protein in my urine, but my blood pressure is good (on Thursday last). So as long as that stays okay, I'm praying I don't have too many problems. Never remembered mobility starting to be so affected at this stage. I think it must be one of 'forgetting information' part of giving birth. I thought it was at about 38 weeks, obviously wishful thinking Hmm.

Looking forward to another easy day tomorrow. Then the new begins and so does my 'to do' list. But we're getting there. Felt a bit hollow earlier today, but I'm feeling a bit better now.

Does anyone have any experience, first or second hand, on women's refuges and what they are like? Thanks guys.

Poppy xx

Teaandcakeplease · 13/03/2011 20:15

No I don't Libra, How are you today?

How's the swelling in your feet? I'd probably think about some special insoles to help balance the change in stance now you're getting bigger, maybe seamless socks too? Perhaps get your feet measured in case they've gone up a size and some different shoes can help? Do you wear support tights? Are you drinking plenty as that helps too?

OP posts:
Teaandcakeplease · 13/03/2011 20:17

Are you putting your feet up often too?

I know this is babycentre and not mumsnet but there's some good ideas on here: www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/naturalremedies/swelling/
