Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tired mum, Elmo, AF, HE, Cheesey and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Wine Cheers! :)

Long day here, everyone has yet another cold, I think my head weighs about 100lbs. What did you all get up to this weekend?

elmofan · 07/02/2011 00:55

Hi tea & gomummy Smile

I had a quiet weekend, dd is sick with a high temp & i'm keeping a close eye on her as there is an outbreak of scarlet fever in her year at school Sad
fingers crossed she's not coming down with that.
Sorry to hear you all have another cold gomummy.

gomummygo · 07/02/2011 02:33

Poor DD, Elmo, must be worrying for you with the scarlet fever going around. :( So frustrating when all you can do is wait and watch, isn't it.

Chest colds around here, though DS and DH are much worse than I with that horrible wet chesty cough, I really only have it in my head thus far. I know it is just part of life, but I so hate hearing my little guy cough in a way that sounds like it should be coming out of a six foot tall man. :(

CheerfulYank · 07/02/2011 14:51

Aw, poor gomummy's DS and Elmo's DD. It is so hard when they're ill. DS has recovered from his strep and ear infection but now he's been complaining every now and then of his chest hurting and he's been coughing a lot. If he develops bronchitis or something on top of everthing else I will lose the plot! Poor little man. :(

I'm going to attempt to make bread for the first time today...I've made pumpkin or banana bread before but never just regular sandwich bread. We'll see how it turns out. DS is excited to help. :)

valiumredhead · 07/02/2011 17:05

Hello :)

How are the bencher's poorly kids today?

elmo was school ok about getting ds early?

I've had a productive day, got lots done and managed to squeeze in coffee with friends, which was nice.

Ds cam home from school knackered and in tears - been a long day, so early bed for him tonight!

yanky hope the bread turned out well, and if it didn't you know what they say - "If at first you don't succeed................................... get a bread maker!" Wink

CheerfulYank · 07/02/2011 18:10

I haven't made it yet, it's barely noon here :) I'm waiting for DS to arrive here at the school where I work (he doesn't have school today, but his daycare lady brings him over with the kids who do, which I really appreciate. One less step for me!) and then we'll go home and get baking!

It's always nice to have productive days, isn't it. I went shopping with a friend yesterday and bought a bunch of things to organize my entryway. I stayed up waaaay too late finishing it, but it gave me a thrill this morning to see it so nice and tidy. It doesn't take much to make me happy :o

gomummygo · 07/02/2011 18:15

Good luck on the bread Cheerful, I'm sure it will be delicious, and your house will smell so wonderful! :) DS likes to help too, it is fun. DH's role is the knocking-on-it-to-make-sure-it's-done part, then pronouncing that "we" have made a fresh loaf! Hmm

Not great here Valium, went to doctor, DS has a chest infection, got meds, won't take them. Quite a day we are having, I have projectile antibiotics in my hair. DH also has one, but is much more cooperative about taking his meds, thankfully.

CheerfulYank · 07/02/2011 18:19

Oh, that's how my DS was too, with not wanting to take his medicine! It's so awful because they feel so sick and you just want them better. "Luckily", when he had strep they gave him a shot of antibiotics because he was vomiting so much, so when he refused to take his medicine for his ear infection I gave him the choice between that or another shot. I felt like the meanest mother alive, but he gulped it down after that.

I'm very excited to make bread! I'm taking this "save money" thing on as a grand adventure. (We'll see how long THAT lasts!) I would really love to stay home with DS and any future DC so I'm looking forward to trying different things.

gomummygo · 07/02/2011 18:56

Oh you're so right with that, I feel so mean trying to make him take this medicine that he so obviously hates. :( I know that's silly as he needs it, but it's just me.

Hope it works out for you Cheerful! :)

CheerfulYank · 08/02/2011 01:20

Well...the bread did not rise well, so I put in some olive oil, garlic, and rosemary and called it foccacia. :o DH and DS loved it! :)

Teaandcakeplease · 08/02/2011 10:25

Mmm sounds delicious.

Hope Gomummy has managed to get her boy to take the medicine now.

CheerfulYank · 08/02/2011 16:06

I know, poor little guy! Hope he's doing well and getting some rest.

Where's tiredmum and that bump of hers? :)

gomummygo · 08/02/2011 23:09

Thanks for the good wishes Tea and Cheerful. No noticable improvement yet but (with much upset on all of our parts) have two doses in.

Cheerful, well done on the bread creativity! I have a hard time getting mine to rise enough at this time of year when it's cold in the house. Or when I have yeast that's not fresh enough. Or when DS puts a sticker book on top of it. Blush Anyway I may have to put your idea into practise in the future! I usually cut the not-so-tall ones up and pretend they were for Bruschetta, but DH is onto me when it wasn't quite intentional. :)

elmofan · 09/02/2011 14:25

Hello Smile

Aw poor ds gomummy Sad Hopefully the medicine will kick in soon & he will feel better x

That was a very inventive & clever thing to do with the bread Cheerful Smile & i bet it tasted lovely .

valium yes thanks the school were fine with letting ds off early Smile

Teaandcakeplease · 09/02/2011 19:04

If you have a quiet night planned this amazing lady is finally in labour after her waters breaking whilst on holiday in America and having to spend 6 weeks in a US hospital on travel insurance being monitored. She's an inspiration.

Hello :)

Was beautiful here today - my dh planted some dwarf irises for me last year, I noticed today they are through and look gorgeous! Also crocuses and daffies are are halfway through too. Yippppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeee Spring is on its way Grin

Hope everyone's ok?

Off to watch a film with dh - night x

gomummygo · 09/02/2011 20:34

Shock Envy Valium - Crocuses? We got six inches of snow today and it is -21, so our crocuses, irisis and daffodils are a distant dream for the next while!

Thanks Elmo, he is a little better this afternoon so far . Envious of a bakery that close by! Actually on second thought...might not be in my best interest, lol.

gomummygo · 09/02/2011 20:53

WOW @ that mum in the US, Tea. What an amazing attitude she has.

elmofan · 10/02/2011 17:42

My daffodils are starting to come up too Smile

Ahh checked out the link tea , now i'm just waiting for the happy news of baby pebbles birth Smile

Shock at it still being -21 gomummy , you must be fed up with the cold by now Sad
When does the good weather usually kick in ?
