Have posted about BIL and his GF before and their very PDA.

We are at ILs for our traditional family NYD lunch, it's something we all look forward to and make abut of an effort for, lovely food, wine, get dressed up etc.

Everyone looks lovely, DD is having a whale of a time and then BIL's GF comes downstairs. BIL is in smart trousers, shirt etc and she is wearing pink PJ bottoms, a basque 3 sizes too small and a tatty black Cardigan.

DH joking said "had she just got out of bed?" and she replied "no I've been getting ready upstairs" apparently this is what she is wearing today.

AIBU to think that is just odd? She knows what we do on this day as MIL and me were talking about it on Christmas Eve with her and saying what we were wearing etc.

Is she called Vicky Pollard?.....

She's probably making a point. I wouldnt like to feel pressured to dress up and plan it a week beforehand what I was wearing to a family lunch

god, it's almost as bad as when you have guests over and they spend their time posting on the internet slagging off other family members. I hate that too

as an aside a saw a girl at st pancras station the other day in pj bottoms and a large coat. maybe it's what the kidz iz into innit

I thank god every day I didn't marry a man with a family that sounds just like yours, I'd have spent my life disappointing him/them and probably had a nervous break down. It's better the girl hears the rude comments now so she knows what she's getting into.

oh no - I only went to the corner shop in my PJ's with a jacket thrown over the top (in my defense my PJ bottoms are leggings and until I actually told the DS's I hadn't got dressed yesterday they thought I was in my day clothes )

If your husband said "has she just got out of bed?" close enough for her to hear then he is a v rude man. Talking about heras if she isn't there.

Next year why not buy her a skirt and a sparkly top from next for Christmas? She'll be really pleased to have something appropriate to wear and will think warmly of you for helping her through this tricky social situation. Problem solved!

oh come on - it was a planned thing where they dress up a bit. She knew about it. Surely a pair of (no holey) jeans and a vaguely smart top would have been a better effort?

If she did't want to dress up a little surely it would have been at least polite to say "actually I'd rather not get dressed up"

Oh I agree that the gf was rude to slob around in pj's and a too-small basque. But op's hubby was even ruder to speak about her as if she wasn't there in such a sneering way.
