Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

AIBU to be protective of my DD?

Aw CJ what a lovely sensitive way of putting it, and you didn't even mention the word :)

Another one where I had to avoid looking at the pictures Mind you I loved the book and learnt the word "salutations!" from it.

V curious about yours CJ, is her behaviour immoral, downright criminal or just rude?

Unrulysun · 27/01/2011 13:48

Cross at self for not being here for Dawn Treader. Cross at self for not having read Daen Treader for 30yrs. Although I read The Horse and His Boy recently and thought it hadn't aged well into multicultural Britain :(

CJ many many more clues needed please - I feel you're being a little parsimonious with the information :)

AIBU to be really rather frightened?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 27/01/2011 14:07

Are you in a dark dark wood Unruly?

I agree that CJ is being clue-pinching :o

Unrulysun · 28/01/2011 18:16

No sorry Elephants not much cover around at all, which is the root of the problem tbh.

The raft seems a little empty at the moment - can I tempt people to it with the smell of the fresh bread I have been able to bake this week because of my fantastic new food processor? I may try raisin cinammon next... It's starting to look like 1953 chez unruly :)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/01/2011 00:16

Not much cover, er, are you somewhere extremely hot? or really rather chilly?

It is empty around here isn't it. Do you know, I also baked bread this week, for the first time ever. :)

AIBU to be feeling the pressure of work?

OP posts:
CJCregg · 29/01/2011 17:57

Hi all

So, Unruly, are you under attack? Or on the run?

Elephants, is your job tiring? Is it fulfilling as well as pressured? Are you being asked to do things you don't want to?

Sorry to be mean with clues. Worried about giving it away ...

I just think she's gone too far. It was bound to happen eventually, some of them are so impressionable. And now one of them has died ...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 29/01/2011 18:34

Not much chance of that, CJ! Is she daring people to do unwise things? Sending them on quests? Are they trying to impress her, or do they have to do her bidding, as employees maybe?

...Yes my job is very tiring, and with such a tight deadline and so much to do! I'm an old man you know...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 29/01/2011 20:35

Are you dying?

She's not their employer, but they do look up to her. She's very good at what she does, but she believes in some things passionately and I don't agree with some of her views.

Unrulysun · 29/01/2011 22:08
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 30/01/2011 13:34

...I'm not about to die, no, unlike many others. What I'm doing now isn't my usual job, it's more of a special one-off thing...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 31/01/2011 12:26

Am totally clueless on all of yours - MCP?

AIBU to go back to him?

Unrulysun · 31/01/2011 14:39

Hmmmmmmm unknown foodstuffs, this can't be right - I know all the foodstuffs.

Elephants have you been brought back to do one last job? Are you terribly dangerous?

CJ What sorts of things are you finding you disagree with?

Treacle as with so many things it depends? What would your dear old mother say do you think?

...bloody hell it really is hotting up out there. Looks like Johnny Foreigner's got us on the ropes...

steamedtreaclesponge · 31/01/2011 14:45

I brought them back from Holland! It's ginger breakfast cake (yummy) and cheese (also yummy).

Are you a bit of a cowardly blackguard, Unruly?

...my mother and father are both dead, but my foster-father's been very good to me. I feel like I should go back to him even though I'm having such a nice time here...

Unrulysun · 31/01/2011 15:50

Does he have long legs?

I will fight any blighter who calls me a coward sir! (or rather I will threaten to and then hotfoot it out of here at first light)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 31/01/2011 17:06

:o at longlegs - I was wondering about him but forgot the name until I read that.

...It's not me that's terribly dangerous, but it's downright certain that there is about to be carnage. And nobody knows yet...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 31/01/2011 17:50

Did you have a rather notorious career at school, Unruly?

MCP everyone else!

Not Daddy Long Legs - although I do love that book!

...the past is a much more interesting place to be but I suppose I should go back to the future...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 31/01/2011 18:36

More Clue Please Cjaaaaaaay, have been worrying about yours!

And, indeed everyone else. :)

...I mean, I've done DIY before but nothing on this scale, and as for the other part of the job, well, a week is hardly going to be long enough...

OP posts:
Unrulysun · 31/01/2011 20:33

Zounds! Unmasked by a female! Have some rather impressive side whiskers and bright pink trousers (so practical for modern warfare)

I love Flashy but guiltily.

steamedtreaclesponge · 31/01/2011 21:01

I've never really read any of them, actually Blush - are they good?

MCP please everyone!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 01/02/2011 01:03

Ooh nice side whiskers, what wax do you use?

Was that Flashman?

...I mean, I like God's creatures as much as the next man, but this is a tall order...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 01/02/2011 09:01

Ah - are you expecting a lot of rain, Elephants?

...even though in the future I'm lame. I wonder if the moon seeds can help me get back?

Pogleswood · 01/02/2011 09:37

Morning all!
Am I allowed back on the raft to sit quietly in a corner nibbling on whatever comes to hand, even though I seem to have the AIBU Books equivalent of writer's block...?

Glad you are still here! Smile

Unrulysun · 01/02/2011 11:19

Welcome back Pogleswood. Unfortunately I am wearing most of the food in our house today (courtesy of dd) so I can only offer some squashed raspberries and a rather good orange to fellow raft dwellers.

Does one dwell on a raft or are we going somewhere in which case we'd be travellers innit?

Flashman indeed. He is a rogue, a cad and a bounder without any redeeming features at all but I learnt everything I know about 19th century history from him. Especially the one about Ranavalona the mad queen of Madagascar who used to execute thousands of people for fun.
