AIBU Books Game Part Eight

Post an AIBU from the point of view of a fictional character (from novels/nursery rhymes/plays etc) and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please :)

Treacle are you worried that he'll be led astray or that he'll get eaten/changed into 'one of them'/ lose his immortal soul or that he'll contract an STD/drop out/end up on Jeremy Kyle?

Have decided to do very long genre establishing questions in 2011 as the way to win and ensure great riches (as so far have gained one mouldering carrot from endeavours)

is everyone recovered? Have we all started a year of healthy living? Should I put away these chocolate digestives and break out some pak choi?

Aah, the Archers; I do love it but I listen so rarely that I never know what's going on.

...No, she doesn't have a bad reputation, although some of her family do. But I don't know what my friend's intentions are and it's making me uneasy...

Mine was Charlotte Sometimes, which I'm ashamed to admit I've done before but I love it SO much ... Still waiting for DD to be old enough to read it.

I am also a part time Archers listener, aware enough to know about poor old Nigel but a bit scared of launching myself back in as I've missed so much.

I accidentally listen to The Archers all the time while cooking and I never have the faintest idea what's going on or who anyone is.

...well, the lady's vanished now, so I'm hoping that this will all blow over. But I suspect my friend's trying to find her using some very underhanded means...

I am still miffed about poor Nigel. I don't listen to The Archers to be harrowed. Angry If they wanted to "shake Ambridge to the core" Ed Grundy winning the lottery would have been far more fun.

I have been dipping in and out of The Archers for years. I can still remember being alarmed that one of the names on Kate's shortlist was our front runner for DD. Thankfully, she didn't pick it!

Mine is still running.Grin

...It goes in the Christmas pudding along with a plaster, a menthol cone and a bad sixpence. The one who gets the plaster is supposed to break a limb over the next year, the one who gets the menthol cone will be blinded by headaches and the one who gets the bad sixpence will lose all his money. And the one who gets the coffin nail is going to die...

...Not a woman, exactly, but certainly female and in the army yes. The fact that we couldn't find a uniform to fit was a shame, but a lick of paint soon sorted me out...

I'm sad about Nigel too, Moomin :( It seems so pointless and not so much dramatic as just...upsetting.

The name wasn't Nolly then? (Is it Nolly?)

Oh, oh, oh my god have just googled yours - there was a sequel???

Bit worried that this thread is cursed now, as did a Dick King-Smith one just before Christmas and he has just died. After Eva Ibbotson I'm not sure I can take any more wonderful authors dying. Will stick to the safely already-dead after this one.

I was just working up to seeing something nasty in the woodshed. Have some of Adam Lambsbreath's pudding for a prize! It's a prequel and, sadly, only a short story, but the Starkadders are gloriously awful.

Ooh, there's a prequel? I did actually think that last clue of yours sounded rather Starkaddery but couldn't think what it might be. I've only read Christmas at Cold Comfort - quite funny but, predictably, not as good as the original.

Well done, CJ! What would you prefer for your prize - a stylishly dressed doll or a relaxing row down the river?

Hmm, had several ideas for yours, Moomin, but you've scuppered them with that last clue.
