My kids are now all at school , and im going slightly (more than usual )bonkers !

So i want one of those dolls .Ideally i would get one that "matched" my children in colouring ... blonde blue eyed little cherub like darlings.

DH thinks ive went mad .
DD2 IS ROLLING HER EYES
Dd3 says just borrow one of dd4`s dollys and play with that.
The boys want to know if im getting a doll , can they get a new toy too.
DD1 thinks ive lost the plot and is looking very scared ...(she due pfb in dec )

should i get one?

oh no no no!! I think i'd rather have a chucky doll.

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 23/09/2010 23:11

That is really sad ShowofHands, wasn't imagining the dolls with ladies with learning difficulties, sorry if offended you, feel bad now that is sad. was imagining if a friend brought one out with her and how i'd react!

Ladybird thats horrific... and just before bedtime!

TheVeryLazyLadybird · 23/09/2010 23:14

Sweet dreams! Grin

ShowOfHands · 23/09/2010 23:18

Bats, you didn't offend me in the slightest. Smile

BatsInTheSnowglobe · 23/09/2010 23:22

good Grin

I don't want to go to bed after seeing those images, they've brought back childhood nightmares after watching the horror films the dolls and the stepford children!

Therapy, natch.

Droves - if the idea of getting a freaky dead baby doll has started to pall for you, then you might like to consider raising a real live monkey as a surrogate child instead.
There was a C4 documentary about this too - link here.
One man seemed to think the monkey would be able to look after him in his dotage Hmm.

Heracles · 24/09/2010 01:58

You get one if you want one; just don't expect me to look at it without shuddering the very eyeballs from my face. Ick.

MrsSchadenfreude · 24/09/2010 07:37

SOH you have made me laugh so hard that a little bit of wee came out!

clpsmum · 24/09/2010 09:29

I find it all strangely fascinating.

I'd love to see how people react when they're taken out and pushed around in a pram. You know: elderly lady in shop looks over and makes conversation with woman with pram while waiting in the supermarket queue, realises that it is in fact a doll but feels she must continue to be polite until she can get away.

popcracker · 24/09/2010 14:21

Spoooooooooooooooky.

wfrances · 24/09/2010 14:22

ive got one, came from america and i have a dolls emporium house.ps i love dolls and dolls houses ,would collect if i had the room

ilovesprouts · 24/09/2010 16:33

not for me im afaid they look like dead babies !!:(

stealthpony · 24/09/2010 16:55

They are hideous. However why care what anyone else thinks, if you want one, if it makes you happy then get one! You're not harming anyone afterall.

fuschiagroan · 26/09/2010 03:08

I nearly died laughing at the whippet in a blanket being pushed around in a pram

QueenStromba · 26/09/2010 05:45

Oh my god. They are hideous and really, really creepy.

Lovinmybois · 26/09/2010 07:00

Omg kickarse, i think i would of walked out! Gah! Sounds like you've already made up your mind op. I can't even bring myself to look at the links. If i was in your position i'd rather get 'real live' pets. Become the mad cat lady! Ha ha! I do love the wippet in a pram, that would have me laughing for weeks! Ha ha!

Frontporchbabies · 19/10/2010 10:26

If you find reborn dolls to be as comforting and rewarding, why not get one. It does not mean you're out of your mind. These babies have been crafted specially to meet these needs. Contact me if you need to talk about it. :)

BeccaandEvie · 19/10/2010 10:58

I find them strangely facinating, the people who make them are brilliant artists to make them look so real.

I wouldn't want one though. For me they do look like a dead baby.

I saw that show about it and the woman who went to America for her spent a fortune on them. I cant' remember if she had children.

Looking at the Pegasus link is sad, there's a memoral one of a little boy. Very cute, but I don't think I could have a doll that looked exactly like my baby if he'd died.

To the OP - you should do whatever you want to though, what harm is it doing anyone?

MooMooFarm · 19/10/2010 13:39

Droves - NOOOO!!! You will be on the slippery slope to becoming a mad old woman.

If you're feeling the need to mother something little do something kind and get an abandoned pet from the RSPCA. Or if you're just bored get a job! Smile
