Surprise dairy & egg free finds - join me in making a list?

Hi -

I'm new to the whole allergy thing (DS is 15 months old & allergic to milk & eggs). As he's getting older I'm starting to appreciate how limiting it is and how lovely it is when he can have an off-the-shelf item that everyone else is having. So, I thought I would start a thread where we could list surprise finds we've came across (or in my case, that MN have pointed me towards!).

My (very short) list:

• shop bought puff pastry (read this in a thread the other day. A revelation! And just in time for my nephew's birthday party!)
• jammie dodgers (ditto!)
• Nairns Dark Choc Chip biscuits (made in factory handling milk)
• Sacla tomato & garlic stir in sauce
• Sacla Char-Grilled Aubergine Pesto
• Cauldron aduki bean kiev (salty though!)

Anyone like to share their finds?

Alpro soya yogurt also good- buy the plain and add fruit puree or mix with a fruity pot.

Belgian chocolate chips (at Costco)
Shortbread biscuits (I think tesco's own?)
Fox's party rings
Oreos in north America, but strangely have whey powder here in the uk

Cocktail sausages from M&S
Soreen fruit loaf - banana & apple/sultana varieties are milk and egg free - really grateful for a previous poster for this. Great off the shelf 'cake' option for the cupboard.

I'm just reading more carefully... would never have thought to even check the ingredients in anything called pesto - so excited about the Sacla Aubergine Pesto!!!!! Thanks a million!

These chocolate raisins are great. Sell them in the 'free from' section in Waitrose.

Maz, I looked at the Soreen mini banana loaves the other day and thought they had dairy in. Will have to look again as can't find details on their site.

Most Bourbonbiscuits are fine too, Tescos are :)

Sainsburys basics garlic bread is dairy free. It has a not suitable for milk allergy warning on it, but we ignore these and DS was fine.

Jammy dodgers are now dairy free

Is peanut butter egg free? I know supermarket branded one I use is dairy-free.

Garlic bread & shortbread too? Am loving this thread! It's often just ensuring what I have is dairy/egg free so that when he starts begging asking for stuff off my plate there isn't a meltdown. Hence am delighted about all these biscuit options! The aubergine pesto stuff is very tasty.

Can't wait to hear what else folk have found!

Eh?! Did someone say chocolate raisins? How on earth did I miss that?

DS and DH are lactose intolerant, so this is a bloody godsend. I'm printing it out!

Thisonce it may just be the mini ones that have a different recipe. I know someone said on another thread that the mini Jammie Dodgers aren't dairy free.

openerofjars DS can tolerate baked eggs (in moderation!) so it may be other posters are the same. Sausage roll bites are going on my shopping list!
