Calling time on wine: 100 days sober - starting 01/01/26

1000 replies

reset100 · 27/12/2025 09:06

My wine drinking has slowly spiralled into a daily habit and I’m calling time on it. No drama, no rock bottom - just the realisation that it’s become a crutch and I want out of the swirl.

From 1st January, I’m committing to 100 days sober and I’d love others to join me. This isn’t about moderation or “just weekends” - it’s about a clean break and supporting each other to go completely alcohol-free for the full 100 days.

If alcohol has crept in as a daily default, if you’re tired of negotiating with yourself every evening, or if you simply want a proper reset with people who get it, you’re very welcome here.

No judgement. No pressure. Just accountability, honesty, and support.

I’m in. I could have written the above myself.

Needablueskyholiday · 27/12/2025 09:14

I’m bored of;
The daily battle with my inner conscious I know I shouldnt but…
The fact I can drink a bottle and it just doesn’t affect me (which worries me!)
The cost. I try to buy something half decent so that’s circa £8 average daily. Soon adds up
Lastly the obvious health / skin benefits.

I need moral support to break this pattern!!!!!!

Florally · 27/12/2025 09:18

Me, I could also have written your post. Getting really sick of myself and need to break the habit.

AutumnAllTheWay · 27/12/2025 09:36

Im in. Been drinking daily for a very long time. Gave up for a couple of days last week then 3/4 of a bottle of red last night. Past enjoying it, its just a habbit now.

Thanks for starting thread.

reset100 · 27/12/2025 09:39

Hey @Needablueskyholiday
I’m really glad you’re here ❤️

That inner negotiation every evening is exhausting and I know it well. Also the tolerance thing is exactly what made me think it’s time to rein it in. I can’t moderate so need a full reset. We are not weak, broken - just done with the pattern and slippery slope.

This thread is absolutely here for moral support, honesty, wobble-days and cheering each other on. We’ll take it one day at a time, just showing up and supporting each other.

Welcome also @AutumnAllTheWay
I totally get it! I’m not even enjoying it anymore 🤷🏼‍♀️

Same! I need the break. I’ve done this in previous years and the health benefits are amazing. My skin was glowing, eyes clear and sparkling and I got so much more done with my day! I’m really ready to embrace it and do a full reset. Welcome to the group. ❤️

Oh hello! I will join you please. Could definitely use the break from alcohol for a whole host of reasons.

BonosToupee · 27/12/2025 16:42

Can I join too please?
It’s very much a habit with me and the answer to everything. The ahhh after a lovely day, and the way I wind down after a tough one. I’m also fed up of the post drink munchies which means I forever seem to be battling my weight.
Thanks for starting the thread 😊

SharpWriter · 27/12/2025 16:45

I'll join. Started yesterday as the amount I drank on Christmas Day actually scared me!

Newyearnewmewoooop · 27/12/2025 16:45

Me too, I started yesterday though

reset100 · 27/12/2025 16:54

Welcome @DancingPonyand @BonosToupee

We’ve got a free pass for a tipple until the 1st, then we hit reset for 100 days, taking us straight through to 10/04/26. Picture it now- clearer skin, brighter eyes, actual energy. That grey, washed-out look? Not for me anymore.

I’m all in. PT twice a week is booked, and I’m aiming for my first HYROX in April/May. The money I’d usually pour into wine is going straight into my fitness instead.

Now imagine summer: refreshed, stronger, sharper… and yes, very likely slimmer. I’m so ready for this.

Go you! I need the hard stop date in the diary.
I did have wine last night but really wasn’t fussed.. I think my mindset is changing in preparation 😊

I have been drinking a bottle of wine every night for a few years and now I am sick of it. I am a single parent and work long hours and feel like wine is my reward in the evenings.

I get really bad anxiety the day after, sometimes not wanting to do the things I enjoy like riding my horse because I am too anxious.

I have got to make a change.

I love this. My sister does Hyrox! Well done x

fragglerockless · 28/12/2025 08:16

I'll throw my hat in the ring.

2025 saw some particular low points in my drinking that had escalted over the years, including several blackouts, very poor behaviour at times and an obsession in thoughts about alcohol and whether I would be able to drink that day or not.

Since an evening in October where I had far too much I have realised I need to stop. Since then I have still been drinking, but not to such extremes, and have become sober curious. I have been listening to a lot of sober podcasts and audiobooks. I have also downloaded an app called Try Dry, which tracks drinking and not drinking.

It is time to try and stop totally, perhaps forever, perhaps not. But for now I feel ready to give it a go and look forward to sharing the journey with you all xx

reset100 · 28/12/2025 09:41

Good morning all.
We are at a similar point @fragglerockless
I’ve had blackouts a few times and that genuinely scares me. I’ve also put myself in situations where my judgement - and my life choices, were compromised 🙈. I’ll be sober-cautious for a couple of months, then swing back to going wild again. That cycle has to stop.

I know I’m good at pushing boundaries, so I’m treating this as a full reset. A deliberate, healthy lifestyle choice and a commitment to becoming a better version of myself.

I'm in. I spent 3 months sober, then used Christmas as an excuse to binge drink my way through December. I drank a ridiculous amount Christmas Day and yesterday and it doesn't even give me a hangover anymore which worries me.

Trying to brainstorm ways to get through the winter months. The temptation to slump under a blanket and drink wine is always much stronger when it's cold and rainy outside. In the summer I get my dopamine hit from the sun and pottering about in the garden, so it's easier to avoid booze!

I definitely want to get into some sort of routine of strength training as I've heard it's one of the best things you can do for your health as you get older. Struggling to find decent workouts for total beginners, if anyone has any recommendations?

I’m in! I’ve done it a few times in the past but I really need it now, was planning to do it anyway but really glad to find this thread for accountability.

I resonate so much with what everyone has said. I’m easily getting through a bottle of wine a night without my husband even noticing which is clearly not great. It’s habit - I don’t even enjoy it. And the cost! 😱

Things have escalated over Christmas and ive drunk so much that I don’t really have any memory of going to bed on Christmas night or last night. I found a video on my phone of my kids doing a ‘performance’ last night - I sort of remember now I’ve seen the video, but had completely forgotten about it until I got that reminder. That is not the mum I want to be.

Need a hard reset. Get back on top of my fitness, get some clarity back to my thoughts, and re-prioritise the important things in my life.
