Calling time on wine: 100 days sober - starting 01/01/26

reset100 · 27/12/2025 09:06

My wine drinking has slowly spiralled into a daily habit and I’m calling time on it. No drama, no rock bottom - just the realisation that it’s become a crutch and I want out of the swirl.

From 1st January, I’m committing to 100 days sober and I’d love others to join me. This isn’t about moderation or “just weekends” - it’s about a clean break and supporting each other to go completely alcohol-free for the full 100 days.

If alcohol has crept in as a daily default, if you’re tired of negotiating with yourself every evening, or if you simply want a proper reset with people who get it, you’re very welcome here.

No judgement. No pressure. Just accountability, honesty, and support.

@FizzPlease Happy 1st Soberversary! What a wonderful achievement and a great list 👏

@FizzPlease thank you so much for this. I would love if you kept posting occasionally - it is really helpful to see someone a year on.

Afternoon.

Sorry, I’ve not kept up the last few days, there has been a lot of admin re DF’s death. I’m still here, and not drinking - it’s been from 26th December for me, so nearly a month.

What a post @FizzPlease and I am so pleased for you. What a timely post - I suspect we need a bit of motivation when the weather is so crappy and although we have all come so far, it probably still feels a long way to go too. Your post overflows with positivity, it’s lovely to read. Do keep posting!

@reset100 - you are so much better than your ex, and you stopping drinking is absolute testament to your strength of character and value of yourself. X

Must admit I’d like a glass of wine or two tonight. This time because I had a GOOD day at work 🤣 There’s always a justification isn’t there?

freshstart2026 · 22/01/2026 20:18

Also, it could be purely psychological but I think my brain is feeling just a fraction sharper this evening.

EnjoythemoneyJane · 22/01/2026 20:24

Amazing, @FizzPlease - thank you for posting.

Me too, @freshstart2026 - I had an interesting/exciting day today and am feeling quite energised, and the first thing that occurred to me this evening was to pour a glass of prosecco. Swerved it very quickly though and have made do with a eye-wateringly strong ginger drink!

freshstart2026 · 22/01/2026 20:31

That sounds nice, @EnjoythemoneyJane . I’ve just cracked open an AF beer!

anewyearthisyear · 22/01/2026 22:27

I'm in a bad mood today and feeling a tiny bit wobbly so I just went back and re-read @FizzPlease post.

SoberAndSerene · 23/01/2026 00:00

@FizzPleasereally appreciate the motivational post. I’m finding this week quite hard so it was very timely for me. Congratulations on your achievement.

Theatre night tonight and pre theatre pub food, and not a wine in sight! Feels amazing to be back home in bed feeling clear headed.

I bet that’s a great feeling! I am yet to venture out ☺️ That’s next week.. ironically to a very popular cocktail bar for a fun bingo night. I’ll be in the non alcoholic cocktails 🍹

Day 23! Had a crazy busy start to the day but managed to handle it fairly calmly. I really appreciate not being hungover in these situations!

DH has been ill for most of January - with a cold, cough and now stomach bug. Miraculously I’ve escaped so far and I think it may be something to do with not drinking and religiously taking my daily multivitamin, which I always forgot when drinking.

Wishing everyone a super and sober day!

freshstart2026 · 23/01/2026 10:06

I’ve also been thinking how (for me at least) I must avoid taking this new state of feeling good for granted. Right now it’s still a novelty and something that feels worth maintaining, but when it becomes “normal”, that’s when I’m in danger of slipping. It’s important never to forget just how utterly horrific those hangovers are - and how good I feel now in comparison!

2026x · 23/01/2026 10:08

@freshstart2026 I am also much better with my vitamins! Also I have started a skin care regime (never bothered previously) so my face feels less like a dried up old prune 😂
