Urgh the wine worm has been in my head all day. Been on plan with slimming world all week, except Thursday night which was planned for wine, and now I'm wanting it again. I've even been going to the gym and pool a couple of times, and yet I'm prepared to ruin it all by having wine tonight. I need to do some work on my project to night so why can't I just accept that I'm not going to have any tonight and move on 🤦‍♀️

Amdone123 · 16/03/2024 18:43

@enoughisenough4 I know, it's so hard.
It's like the more you say you can't have it, the more you want it.

Needtokickthehabit · 17/03/2024 11:14

Well I woke up yesterday and despite best intentions drank on an empty stomach and texted my ex. I want to shoot myself in the head. I am literally now the exact thing men will tell the next woman about the crazy ex. It needs to stop I know this.

Amdone123 · 17/03/2024 13:31

@Needtokickthehabit sorry to hear you're feeling so bad. You can't turn back time so you'll have to forgive yourself and move on.
What about going back to your gp ?
@enoughisenough4 how did you get on ?

I'm doing OK. A bit mixed. I drank on Friday despite my best intentions ( I'm not taking my bag to work this Friday! ), but I didn't drink yesterday and I'm not today.
I'll keep trying to get to double fingers af.

enoughisenough4 · 17/03/2024 16:19

@Amdone123 pleased to say I didn't go to the shop!

Amdone123 · 17/03/2024 17:08

@enoughisenough4 that's good. Well done ! Dh popped to the shops earlier. I would normally say get me some wine ( please !), but glad to say I resisted. I think if we're going to moderate, you have to pick your days.

enoughisenough4 · 17/03/2024 18:33

@Amdone123 I'm thinking about it again tonight though. Ffsssssssss

Well done on passing on the wine. We have a shop literally 2 mins away which open until 10pm 🤦‍♀️

enoughisenough4 · 17/03/2024 18:33

@Needtokickthehabit don't beat yourself up - we've all been there!!!

Amdone123 · 17/03/2024 19:30

@enoughisenough4 when is your sw weigh in ? Could you hang on til after that ?

enoughisenough4 · 17/03/2024 20:16

@Amdone123 it's tomorrow 😂😂 I am starting to talk myself out of it now. Annoyed at myself for it occupying so much headspace!

Bigbus · 17/03/2024 20:45

@enoughisenough4 my weigh in is tomorrow too! Monday is a nightmare day to be weighed! I’ve been trying this week after a 1.5 lb gain last week due to a vat of Prosecco on the Friday. I’ve definitely moderated much better this week. It’s been really nice to be hangover- and hangxiety-free this week but have still somehow managed to have 25 units over the week!

enoughisenough4 · 17/03/2024 20:48

@Bigbus let us know how you get on tomorrow! I will too. I didn't go last Monday and I only signed back up the Monday before. My first week was pretty awful and I imagine I put on last week too. I've stayed on plan all this week except Thursday night's wine so I hope I've lost something. Do you use all your syns on wine? I'm trying to just stick to once a week, so trying to make it until at least Thursday but is hard!

Bigbus · 17/03/2024 23:18

Thank you @enoughisenough4 - let us know how you get on too. I have been drinking more gin on SW!

@Amdone123 well done for resisting the urge to drink.

@Needtokickthehabit please don’t be too hard on yourself. I hope that the weekend improved for you.

Swannyb · 18/03/2024 03:01

Hi everyone! Just checking in as it’s been a little while (I’ve been keeping an eye on the thread though). I’ve been close to 100% AF for about 4 weeks now. I am really enjoying it. My energy, motivation is through the roof. I’m keeping on top of everything (housework, chores, work etc) and getting in all my exercise.

It has been helped by doing activities which don’t involve alcohol like going to a cafe for lunch instead of a wine bar. I can’t avoid all situations and it is hard to say no at those times but my holiday diet keeps me strong. I don’t know what the future will look like on the holiday and after that but trying to remind myself regularly how good this feels! I hope these habits last.

How are you all doing? Xxx

@Swannyb wow, you're doing brilliantly. Well done !
I think changing habits is key. I have a friend who gave up smoking by giving up coffee ( that was when she smoked the most).
I was thinking that if I could do something different on a Friday night that would help me, too. Actually, I did try this a while back - I put my shift back, so I worked later, as finishing at 4pm for example, is danger zone for me. I'll try that again this week !
My holiday diet keeps me off it, too. If I weren't 'dieting', I'd have drank today.
I lost 3lb last week - I've also really upped the sparkling water intake. I place bottles all over the house - makes it easier 🤣

Amdone123 · 18/03/2024 11:26

Right, Monday to Friday this week I am af, if anyone wants to join me.
I didn't drink Saturday ( 1 beer, doesn't count) or Sunday so officially day 3.
I've put my Friday shift back so I finish later, and hopefully too tired to be tempted.
I'll look forward to Saturday.

OhShitImNearly40 · 18/03/2024 15:03

Well I'm way off the wagon, have been for the past 6 weeks. Not everyday drinking but 2 or 3 times a week.

I'll stop soon!

Ah fuck it. Was trying to think of a good reason to continue drinking but couldn't find one. Recently gave up nicotine so I know I can do these things and when I'm in the right mindset of trying to be healthy it's a bit easier
Day 1!

Amdone123 · 18/03/2024 15:45

@OhShitImNearly40 well done on giving up nicotine. That's a brilliant achievement.
You can do it !
( I can't think of any reasons to carry on drinking, but I can think of loads to stop).

Easterdaffsx · 18/03/2024 16:14

@Amdone123 am with you on the AF weekdays !
Day 1 again for me this evening so early night amd lots and lots of water !
Thinking of the positives.... more clarity, more presence, less anxiety, better focus, better sleep, clearer skin and less bloating !!! Win win x
Still going to be a tough one

Amdone123 · 18/03/2024 16:41

@Easterdaffsx sounds like a good plan. It's interesting you say it's still going to be tough. I have the greatest of intentions then bam, the thought is there ! Sometimes I roll with it, other times, I'm frustrated with it.
It'd be nice to have a normal relationship with it.

enoughisenough4 · 18/03/2024 17:40

@Bigbus just at weigh in, -2.5lbs off. A long way to go but I wouldn't haven't lost that if I had wine everytime I wanted it! Hope you got on ok?

OhShitImNearly40 · 18/03/2024 17:42

@Amdone123 I don't think any of us would be here if we could have a 'normal' relationship with booze. Surely a normal relationship with it would be none at all, it's a bloody poison FFS!

Bigbus · 18/03/2024 18:41

@enoughisenough4 well done! 2lbs for me!

@OhShitImNearly40 good luck and well done for coming back. I hope you have a good week.

Amdone123 · 18/03/2024 19:36

@OhShitImNearly40 true. I just wish it occupied my thoughts less, but I'm getting better.
@Bigbus @enoughisenough4 well done on the weight losses 👏
