@KatieBenz ✋✋virtual hand hold for you

guineapigs · 13/01/2022 09:25

@StarryNightSparkles Thanks for the corona find! I have been looking for af corona. I think I will go to get some today.

trydry22 · 13/01/2022 10:52

On to day 13 and feeling so much better in myself. Clear head, far less puffy face and sleeping well. The morning walk is getting longer.. I'm feeling like I can push further and the cool morning sea air really is wonderful - especially not being hungover!

No sudden urges for wine last night which is great. Tea, Bath, Bed for all by 9 ☺️ My app tells me I've saved some money so I'm treating myself to a new duvet set and walking boots at the weekend!

StarryNightSparkles · 13/01/2022 10:57

No problem @guineapigs let me know what you think of it. @MyGhastIsFlabbered thank you that's kind of you to say.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 13/01/2022 11:29

@KatieBenz you're very welcome. And thank you, it's kind of you to say. Big virtual hand hold here for your dgs Flowers

It's not February yet? I think I'd understand if we were nearing the end of January but personally I think you've jumped the gun somewhat. I intend staying dry, but for now being part of DJ is perfectly fine and very supportive.

@trydry22 thanks for your personal opinion. I started the February thread yesterday not with the intention of taking anything away from here as it is a fantastic thread and it is still Jan. For me personally I have committed myself to df and wanted to cement that in reality as I don't talk to anyone in rl about my drinking and also because I was forward planning which gives me a sense of control and allows me to build up to February. It was also to see if anyone else felt like me and as a coping mechanism forward planned/committed this early.

I have apologised to the op as I genuinely thought this thread was for January only. I take my hat off to people who can live in the day but unfortunately for me I need a focus and a plan.

Hope that makes sense and answers your questions. The same with anything in life when it comes to af we are all individuals coping in our own way.

trydry22 · 13/01/2022 11:34

I know all too well about planning with two children with autism. I myself have already said 'in my head' I'm likely to carry on being alcohol free on past January. I personally just find it confusing that you've started running a thread 12 days into January. As you say each to their own. You have your thread so box ticked ✅

Why are you apologising? You can start any thread you want! I also find it motivating to look into February too and it’s not like you started banging on about dry feb in the January post!
StarryNightSparkles · 13/01/2022 13:28

Thanks @Pikaso 💐

I wasn’t having a go at you - just didn’t want StarryNightSparkles to feel that she couldn’t post her goals for February. This is a difficult journey for a lot of us and if it helps Starry to look to February then she should be supported with that. I also find it helpful to look forward. We all get through this in different ways.

I apologise if it seemed like I was piling on you, I truly wasn’t and please don’t stop posting on here, I equally want you to get through it in a way that works for you @trydry22

canyon2000 · 13/01/2022 15:36

@KatieBenz hope it all goes well today Flowers

guineapigs · 13/01/2022 15:59

No corona cero in nearby big Tescos. I had a look what else they had but I didn't fancy anything else.

Thank you. Just heard that he is out of surgery - all went well
Unfortunately, I have cracked and poured myself a glass of wine. I’m not going to beat myself up over it and will resume with DJ tomorrow. Thank you for your kind wishes x

Onewildandpreciouslife · 13/01/2022 19:30

@KatieBenz so pleased it went ok - waiting for kids to come out of surgery is very stressful and always seems to take longer than expected.

I had good news on the health front today - feeling really relieved so it must have been bothering me more than I realised.

Long day and a cold commute home, and I’m on my own tonight. Was very tempted to get a bottle on the way home but seem to have resisted so far

KatieBenz · 13/01/2022 19:34

Brilliant news @Onewildandpreciouslife !

CrumpetswithMarmite · 13/01/2022 19:38

Please don't leave us @trydry22 we'll miss you! And the core message here is we are all trying to do our best to find ways to stay AF Smile

@StarryNightSparkles impressed at the commitment for feb! Might see you there... we'll have to see!

CrumpetswithMarmite · 13/01/2022 19:42

Today I had to get up early for work, but took my dog for a walk at the beach first and there was a beautiful sunrise.

Today I felt very grateful for making it to day 13, and for being able to feel healthy, hangover free and generally clear headed walking along the beach.

Definitely a good moment :)

I've concluded I very much enjoy flavoured tonic water with ice. Fairly low in calories, refreshing and curbs the craving for me. Grapefruit and Rosemary flavour my fave so far!

H1Drangea · 13/01/2022 20:14

@CrumpetswithMarmite we’ve had fog all day

Firsttimemummy33 · 13/01/2022 20:17

Has anyone else got really dry skin?

Hohofortherobbers · 13/01/2022 20:22

Great news @KatieBenz. I'm braced for the 3rd Jan weekend and feeling strong, not sure I can quite sign up for DF yet, I feel 100% better for stopping drinking but just like wine. Maybe we can splinter off and have a moderation thread too in Feb? I hope you stick with us @trydry22, I'm sure we all strengthen our will power by posting here.

H1Drangea · 13/01/2022 20:30

@Firsttimemummy33 yep dry skin and horrendous rosacea
And last week I thought my skin was looking good

IJustLovePirates · 13/01/2022 20:36

I’d like a Feb moderation thread. I’ve been reading Mindful Drinking which suggests a 28 day break then a reset with strict rules about how much and how often. I’d like to drink a controlled amount at weekends and maybe 1 or 2 nights where I can have one drink with dinner (so 3-4 alcohol free nights) but an overall controlled amount for the week, so that if I go over one night then there’s no buying more alcohol midweek allowed!

Glad things are going well @KatieBenz

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 13/01/2022 21:01

I'm sure we can middle through February together whether we're fully AF or just moderating...and please stay @trydry22

guineapigs · 13/01/2022 21:17

I like moderation thread idea too. My plan is not to drink during the week but have a beer or two during the weekend.
