Alcohol support
Dry January 2022
MyGhastIsFlabbered · 12/12/2021 09:25
Did Dry January this year and we had an amazing little support group going on here and I wondered if anyone cared to join me next year? This time I'm hoping to stay dry longer - 100 days - but will see how January goes first. I don't want to set myself up to fail.
Who's with me?
FanGirlX · 12/12/2021 16:41
I'm with you!
I was thinking of extending it this year too. Probs to the end of March.
It would tie in well with my health kick / weight loss plan.

A support group is good as, I found that if I got the urge to pour a glass of wine, I could come along to the thread and chat until the urge passed.
We also shared nice non alcoholic drinks that we'd found and box sets / films to entertain ourselves without drinks.
Looking forward to it already!

I always do Dry January and will absolutely do it again in 2022. I'm a very moderate drinker, but to me it feels like a way of marking the damage alcohol can do - it killed my husband and made our lives hell in the runup to his death.
Also I love the really great sleep and reduced hot flushes that I get when not drinking.

Placemarking. I'm hoping to do an entire year of sobriety so dry January is a great place to begin.

I'm in. I'm aiming to stop when work restarts on 4 Jan and do 90 days.... eeeesh it sounds awful even now!
Going to need all the support I can get as a I flipping love wine...

I’m in. I had November off and would have liked to carry on but couldn’t quite face a sober festive season Ridiculous really when I’ve had 2 x lovely sober Christmases while pregnant!
I’m really looking forward to dry January though and I would ideally like to get to February half term booze free .

Hello I'm doing it! and I'm nervous about it as it's my first full month without alcohol in like 3 years! I'm also planning on doing some form of veganuary but maybe not fully vegan not sure yet x
Stuckhere2021 · 16/12/2021 18:19
I’m in. I am a hard core binge drinker and realistically am looking at never drinking again but Dry Jan would be a great start.
MyGhastIsFlabbered · 16/12/2021 19:32
Welcome everyone. Looks like we've got a nice crowd for Dry January - having others who are going through the same thing and who can hold you accountable really helps.
I did Veganuary in 2019 and haven't deliberately consumed animal products since then.

I’m in. Did it this year and felt a great sense of achievement! Found it quite easy, but I don’t want to be complacent, this time might feel harder.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered
I'm already adding things to my watchlists 😀. And collecting books.

Dh and I were talking last night and we're going to do it, though starting on 4th when he goes back to work. Getting a wee bit too fond of wine every night and ramping it up at 5he weekends.
IcedAbstinente · 18/12/2021 10:49
