Dry January 2022

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 12/12/2021 09:25

Did Dry January this year and we had an amazing little support group going on here and I wondered if anyone cared to join me next year? This time I'm hoping to stay dry longer - 100 days - but will see how January goes first. I don't want to set myself up to fail.

Who's with me?

Can I join too please? 31 days sounds like an awful long time at the moment - have got into very bad wine habits over the last few years.

Summer time here in NZ and wine o'clock seems to get earlier and last longer at the moment so hoping for a new regime in the New Year.

IcedAbstinente · 22/12/2021 10:28

I had a drink last night as the tree was going up. See, any excuse.... so i am now just going to try and scale things abck and have a efw AF days then start properly on 31st december like @SantaMonicaPier. I want to hit Jan 1 running. :)

StarryNightSparkles · 22/12/2021 11:33

@IcedAbstinente that's a great idea about saving the money. I am going to do that, thanks for sharing 😊

PeacheyPeach · 22/12/2021 13:24

Hey @myghastisflabbered ☺️ I'm one of the 2021 gang happy to be part of the 2022 thread to!!

GratitudeGoddess · 22/12/2021 19:29

I'm in for the 100 days too!

IJustLovePirates · 22/12/2021 20:14

I'm in. I tried Annie Grace alcohol experiment in November but only got to 17 days due to life getting in the way. I'll officially start on the 2nd though as will probably celebrate New Year's Eve :)

NotN0wBernard · 23/12/2021 04:12

@Fiveshelties I'm also in NZ. Maybe we could share tips on AF drinks we discover?

Peanut82 · 23/12/2021 06:58

No wine last night and feel much better for it today, I've got loads to do and I feel like I've actually got the energy to do it.
I'm considering not having a drink on NYE as I'm working NYD might aswell start as I mean to go on

OutbackQueen · 23/12/2021 07:27

I’m in but think I’ll start now. I drink far too much but am too scared to give up completely so dry Jan would be a good place to start.

Excellent idea. I cannot remember the last time I did a week without alcohol never mind a month which is pretty shocking really.

We are in Hawke's Bay (all those wineries) and it is really hot so I am practising at the moment and drinking water. Have a lovely Christmas - Kia Kaha.

Willieekerslike · 23/12/2021 17:26

I'd like to join please. I find it so hard to moderate, frequently finishing a whole bottle of wine and half of another one. Also waking up on the sofa at 4am fully dressed and feeling like hell. I need to break the habit. Plus get fit like everyone else come January. I can't wait.

LCHF2020 · 23/12/2021 23:50

Yes the 3/4 am Fear resonates greatly with me - coming off a big night the anxiety can be overwhelming and of course then I know it's totally not worth it... until I get offered another glass of wine and then I conveniently forget. Anyone in Asian timezeone so I have some people around during my witching hour (generally 6-8 pm). Also considering starting on the 31st, ignoring NYE and hitting the ground running on NYD with a lovely long dog walk ...

Youngatheart00 · 23/12/2021 23:56

@Willieekerslike you are def not the only one. I don’t wake up on the sofa but regularly I’m my own bed at the 4am(ish) time, heard pounding, dehydrated, dreading what I’ve done, what I’ve said and what my purpose is

I’m so glad to commit to giving that up. It will be hard, but some calm will be lovely

NorthernChinchilla · 24/12/2021 10:48

Yep, I'm in. Want to use it to re-set my behaviour... Jan is probably going to be a rough month so need to be on top of my game

SarahJessicaParker1 · 24/12/2021 20:39

I am also in! Want the health benefits and also, I am vain and am hoping I might become GORGEOUS (haaaa!) by the end of the month

OutbackQueen · 25/12/2021 08:03

Can really relate to the last few posts. I’ve got into the habit of a bottle a day and hate myself for it. I’m definitely addicted and can’t moderate so dry January will hopefully be a start.

ToffeeForEveryone · 25/12/2021 08:05

Placemarking! Going to try dry Jan for the first time.

JacquelineCarlyle · 25/12/2021 11:31

Can I check in too please - I've done DJ in the past and lasted through until March one year, but then it's back to my usual habits once I start drinking again.

I'm liking the idea of 100 days as the target!

RedDingDongMerrily · 25/12/2021 11:39

Yes please! I was on the group last year. Love a DJ. Last year I lost 10lbs (took me 8 months to find them again).

hillyholman · 25/12/2021 23:14

Me too please. The only on weekends bottles of wine have encroached on the weekdays far too regularly.

Effitall · 26/12/2021 13:52

I’m in for this! I’m starting today, I feel like my body is literally screaming at me to give it a break and I just drown her out, time to listen x

htfdth · 26/12/2021 17:23

I'm in, I'm ready having dipped in and out of trying to go AF for some time. I did it before so know I can.. I just need to not start again!!

moochies · 26/12/2021 18:31

I'm in, starting from today.

I'm not a daily drinker but I'm a definite binge drinker, and yesterday was my rock bottom. Today has been horrific in all senses.

Willieekerslike · 26/12/2021 19:41

I'm a puffy faced mess but want to give myself til after NYE then I will have a fresh start. I really want it and I want to get fit. I eat well it's just alcohol is my nemesis.
