Morning all..hope you're all ok. Well I had busy weekend. I didn't quite stick to my plans : I drank Friday evening ( didn't eat), and drank last night, too. I don't feel great today but I am looking forward to having a break. I know I want to get back to being af and all its benefits.
I was thinking that I am able to stay in and not drink. My next step will be going out and not going mad !

Hi everyone, just checking in, another dry day, another gym class, feeling good. The first Friday looming which will likely bring a visit from the wine witch. But will only get easier after we've conquered her the first time. Good luck all and happy birthday for tomorrow @Soberjan

Amdone123 · 06/01/2023 08:55

Morning, folks. @Hohofortherobbers , you're doing well, inspiring me to rejoin the gym ( when my back is better !).
I've had the same thoughts regarding the wine witch ( not sure if it's just because it's Friday - could be - or if it's other aspects - craving, maybe. Boredom ?).
Anyway, yesterday, I had a thought that today I might drink. I actually laughed at myself that I appear to be able to give others tips, but can't quite manage it myself. I've been reading/ watching lots on the benefits of giving up, but nothing on what to do when that seed is planted, so I'm working on that stage now.
So after a good night's sleep, I've decided against it. IF I want to sleep better, lose a stone, not feel anxious, and all the rest, I can't drink and just for today, I won't.
Keep going everyone - you're all doing really well.

Afternoon, Day 10 here. I've slept really well the last couple of nights and was asleep by 830pm last night. slept straight through to 530am. It's the first morning I've woken up and thought that I'm feeling the benefit of not drinking. I've bought a couple of bottles of Nosecco to have for tonight and at the moment the urge to drink k isnt there. I'm working til 9pm so will eat at 9pm then have a Nosecco then go to bed. I've also managed to remember to take a multivitamin every day since I was AF, as well as eating a bit more veg/salad too so I like to think that's making a difference as well. I've lost 1lb since friday last week which is nice!. Hope everyone is ok and looking forward to the weekend!

Amdone123 · 06/01/2023 13:24

@TripleTipplePipple , well done on Day 10, that's brilliant. I, too, have been sleeping really well, so I must remember that when the ww comes knocking ( she's already at the door. I'm just trying really hard to not let her in).
Keep going ! ❤️

Happy Friday everyone! I’m feeling the same but determined we’ve got this!!!
good luck all xx

Hohofortherobbers · 06/01/2023 21:26

Hi guys, 1st Friday, still here, still dry, was pretty easy to be fair. I am loving the sober sleep. I wake up feeling refreshed and positive. Had a Bud Zero as a Friday night treat.

TripleTipplePipple · 07/01/2023 07:34

Another good night sleep.... I woke at 630 when my eldest came in and woke me up and DH said our youngest had come in twice in the night, I really must be sleeping well because that didn't register 😂. Planning a chilled day here, nosecco in for later. I must admit I didn't really think about drinking last night which is nice, but I was busy so tonight might be different.

@Amdone123 stay strong 😁! It's horrible when the thought creeps in, I find I have to get up and do something for a bit and it takes my mind off it.

Soberjan · 07/01/2023 08:19

Hey all, thanks for the wishes @Hohofortherobbers I'm so glad you are not finding it hard that sounds so positive ! I'm really annoyed as I should have opened a bud zero but went for a gin instead wtf?! So I had this lovely cucumber mint fizzy AF drink and thought a stupid thought of why dont I put him in it....I did feel that initial stress relief but I'm not going to get upset as it was only one. Tonight I think I'm going to have a meal before with the family hopefully at the same place and then they'll head home and I'll meet the girls ! And possible call it an early night if I have to just pretend I've got a headache or something ! Good luck to you all and glad your back is a bit better @Amdone123 ! @TripleTipplePipple so glad your sleep is better! The bin men woke me this morning grrrr I did sleep through though but knocked out with that 1 gin otherwise I would have been up until 1am...

Mj20 · 07/01/2023 08:59

Happy birthday @Soberjan 1 drink is brilliant so defo don’t be hard on yourself! Let us know how you get on tonight!

well done @Amdone123 and @TripleTipplePipple and @Hohofortherobbers sounds like everyone is doing really well!

first dry Friday of jan feels like an accomplishment!!! I’m also loving the good sleeps xxx

Amdone123 · 07/01/2023 10:18

Morning, folks. I've just woke up, I have been sleeping so well. I was always blaming my bad nights on the menopause, but deep down, I knew it was the drinking.
@Soberjan , happy birthday, it sounds like a great plan for today. And 1 is absolutely fine, don't worry about that.
I've been a bit worried about today. I have my granddaughter ( yay) today so we're going out - possibly in our canoes, judging by the weather.
You might think that's a day of no drinking, having a child in tow, but no, I often drink when I've got her. I don't get horrendously drunk obviously but I'll usually have a few.
I liked your post @Mj20 , yesterday. It made me laugh and also get a grip of myself. It was short, n sweet, but it made me sit up and stop feeling sorry for myself - not drinking is not the end of the world, yes, we've got it !! ( you may be wondering how I got all that from your short, supportive message, but it's the way my brain works ! )
Have a great day, everyone !

Happy birthday @Soberjan !

Soberjan · 07/01/2023 14:37

Thanks @Amdone123 and @TripleTipplePipple ! Canoeing sounds amazing! I get it though the routine if drink with an outing etc. So many times I've gone out with the kids or just 1 and they've always seen me with a bloody wine glass in my hand...I'm not feeling to go out tonight but all my friends are making effort ...one who is coming gives me anxiety I don't much like her tbh but she is part of the group of mums I am friends with...anyway all these things are triggers x

Mj20 · 07/01/2023 19:44

@Amdone123 im so glad my message helped you take stock 🥰 and I’m so glad we are all supporting each other on this journey! Enjoy your granddaughter and I hope you manage to resist temptation! I’m like you and drink when I’m happy so all of life’s nice things normally mean I have a drink so totally get it!
@Soberjan enjoy your birthday and don’t let the horrible mum get you down! Group dynamics can be so tricky! ESP the mum friends groups! Report back on how you might goes! We will all be rooting for you!!!!

have felt tempted to drink tonight! I’m so cosy and content and hubby’s watching footie with a beer but I’m just remembering the benefits! And looking forward to a big sleep and feeling energised!

hope everyone else is ok @TripleTipplePipple @Buntyforgirls @Hohofortherobbers

Hohofortherobbers · 07/01/2023 21:57

Evening all, hope your weather for canoeing was better than ours today @Amdone123 , its been wet and miserable here. Happy birthday @Soberjan , hope your evening is going well with or without a drink. I had a twang earlier as I walked down the High street past a curry house, fancied a pint of kingfisher and a balti. Had a Bud Zero with my tea which hit the spot. Well done for pushing through our first Fri and Sat night ladies!!

Soberjan · 08/01/2023 11:10

Hi all wrote a post and it got deleted! Thanks for the well wishes everyone. It went ok I took @Amdone123 advice and ate a full meal before hand and when I got there I ordered a prosecco for the table but Im pretty sure I didn't drink more than a bottle as I was talking to everyone there was only about 10 of us from all parts of my life so was nice and the Aggy school mum did put a damper on things as she was leaving just going on and on about something that happened last summer I just said yeah yeah lol didn't divulge too much. I have got a head ache but managed to do all the kid errands and gym....well done to @Hohofortherobbers for not breaking really amazing!!!!

Amdone123 · 08/01/2023 13:54

@Soberjan , sounds like it was a good night. And you've been up and about, that's good.
Shame I can't take my own advice! I had 2 glasses of wine with my pub meal and a bottle after that.
I had a few minor catastrophes yesterday ( dh broke my glasses - don't ask !! Granddaughter was grouchy. One of my fillings has fallen out...).
I just pressed the sod it button ( which made me think, I don't just drink when I'm happy!).
Although, I have a small win today. I went food shopping and didn't buy wine. I was sorely tempted as my back started hurting again, and I was feeling fed up.
Ordered new glasses at a cost of £70.
When I was tempted today though, I did fast forward and think about how I'd feel tomorrow and that did stop me.
I'm back af now - I'm doing well really 🤣
Hope you're all good.

Ah sounds like you had a right day of it @Amdone123 don't blame you for having a few! Glad you are feeling positive today...I unfortunately had wine at lunch but I'm going to try a streak this week from tomorrow. Although the stress levels may be high I'm going to try my best not to drink!

Hohofortherobbers · 08/01/2023 17:45

What a day @Amdone123 ! Don't blame you for hitting the sod it button. Glad your celebrations went well despite the horrible mum being there @Soberjan, theres always one!
I'm here, dry still, drinking San Miguel 0%. its not as nice as bud zero, so I'll not buy it again, the dh can have the rest of them. Slept really well last night, all the way from 10:30-7am without stirring, this is unheard of for me!! Have got lots of household admin done today as weather has been appalling.

Amdone123 · 08/01/2023 17:59

@Hohofortherobbers , that's great, you're doing really well.
I may have mentioned this before but af perroni is really nice. Not cheap, £4.50 for 4 bottles I think.

Glad you had a good night @Soberjan sounds like you did well with moderating as well.

Hi everyone else too! It's been wet here as well so we've been house bound and the kids are driving me nuts. Slept well again last night, I'm finding it much easier to get up in the mornings now, I haven't had much water today though. Will try and down a pint in a minute so I dont feel grim tomorrow! But my second sober weekend is officially done! Onwards and upwards

Amdone123 · 08/01/2023 19:00

@TripleTipplePipple , 2nd sober weekend done and dusted. Well done !
I shall take inspiration from you and aim for an af weekend.

TripleTipplePipple · 08/01/2023 21:32

@Amdone123 It hasn't been as bad as I thought it might be to be honest but think it's because I'm feeling determined and DH isnt drinking either. It'll be different in a few weeks when Jan is over and things are normal again! We stocked up on Nosecco so we had something other than water/squash/coffee in the house.

Soberjan · 09/01/2023 08:55

Wow @TripleTipplePipple I'm also going to take inspo from you and @Hohofortherobbers you guys make me feel like I've failed but I know it's not about that is it. Everyone is different and yes I did moderate a little lol gone are the days of getting black outs etc it's just the fact it was a daily occurance that made me think. My kids keep seeing me with wine and it's etched into their brains and I don't want that if that makes sense? Anyway on and up have a great day everyone and hope it isn't too wet we were also stuck indoors x

Hohofortherobbers · 09/01/2023 20:54

I know what you mean @Soberjan , I feel so bad that the dc must see it as normal me drinking wine daily. Oh well, another good dry day here, another gym session and some deep household cleaning, what a wild life I lead! Out tomorrow night though, going to see a west end show for a friend's birthday with dinner before. She's not a drinker, never has been, so it'll be an easy hurdle to jump AF.
