Morning all..hope you're all ok. Well I had busy weekend. I didn't quite stick to my plans : I drank Friday evening ( didn't eat), and drank last night, too. I don't feel great today but I am looking forward to having a break. I know I want to get back to being af and all its benefits.
I was thinking that I am able to stay in and not drink. My next step will be going out and not going mad !

I had a couple too many glasses of red wine yesterday. Just feel a bit lethargic today as didn't sleep the best. BUT it wasn't catastrophic. No memory loss/acting like an idiot/falling asleepmon couch and I consciously decided not to have another drink and to just go to bed. Hope everyone is good today :)

Afternoon everyone, hope you're all good. I've just woken up, still feel groggy but never mind.
I had a good time away. It was lovely. Walked for miles ( so kept to that plan), ate fish n chips on the beach and met some lovely people. We laughed a lot. Am glad to be home though.
I'm back on my plan tomorrow. Eating properly, drinking just water and I've booked Zumba for 3 sessions.
My next big event is my sister's 60th. That's a weekend at her house ( should be able to control alcohol intake then as she lives in a beautiful part of the country so I tend to walk a lot), and her actual day out is a week later ( theatre, meal, nightclub in town) That will be trickier. I don't want to get drunk then as I hate getting home. And falling in nightclubs! Anyway I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Oh and this Friday a friend wants me to go to hers so I'll take beers I think and eat. See I'd be ok if I had no social life !
After that, nothing til Christmas! Thank god.
Hope you've all done OK at the weekend. It sounds like most of you have. That's great. I know I can do this and I know my life is better without it.

@youboozeyoulose I’d say last night sounds like a success! The conscious decision to stop where you did is exactly what we all were prob lacking before 🤣 so well done you!
@Amdone123 sounds like you’ve had a lovely weekend and managed it really really well!
It’s tricky with social events but I think all we can do is take one day at a time!!!
So I’m day 7 of AF… I must say I’m so much happier booze free but I still can’t say right I’m ditching it for good.
Looking forward to the week ahead. Hubby away so mon-thur will be AF too! But thinking I’ll prob want something by the weekend!!!

Hope you don't mind me joining. Frequency not so much of a problem ( although def drinking more frequently than I'd like ) biggest problem is what a dick I am when I'm drunk. Literally a different person. Every time I say - that's it not doing it again , then I do !

@CH79, course you may. Well done for moderating at your friend's. On the few very few occasions I've done that, I felt such a sense of achievement and so good to not be hungover the next day. Also, I remember thinking that I still had a good night. It was sometimes a bit hard being well, mindful but I still managed it. I'll do the same as you this Friday when I'm at my friend's house. You will be my inspiration!
@confusedaf29, hi there. I'm similar regarding frequency. I think a few of us are the same on this thread - going 4 or 5 days af then bang ! It's Friday, it's 5 o'clock ( or in my case noon), and we're on it. I'm not too bad when drinking ( quite happy, sociable- though I have been known to fall later on. And at 54, that ain't a pretty sight), I'm worse with a hangover - irritable, fed up , anxious and that's why I want to moderate.

@Mj20, yes. Here's to a great week. I've got my plan ( I know they don't always work, but I'm trying!).

Thank you! Yes, there's definitely a sense of achievement isn't there.
I had a couple of gins then just had the tonic, nobody noticed, I didn't feel I wanted to drink anymore & I felt fine Saturday so all in all a good night.
I just can't continue with the anxiety the day after, it's ridiculous.

And welcome @confusedaf29!!! As @Amdone123said lots of us are similar to you with amount and hangover bring the problem! I use to be an idiot when drunk but now I never go that far! But I still sometimes go far enough to bring on a panic attack the next day 🙄🙄🙄 although since joining everyone here that hasn’t happened 🙏🏼

Would anyone be up for doing Sober October? No pressure but something to think about. I tried Dry January with a group on here. I think I did 3 weeks ( the group was brilliant).
I think I could do it.

Thanks for the welcome all.I'd be interested in sober for October bar one date as I have a wedding and I know there is no chance of me not drinking that night.

Hi there, I had a moderating weekend with half bottle of wine Fri and Sat night, was out Sunday night and had 2 large glasses then dry Mon. I'm out tonight but not really a drinking do so no plans to drink. Suddenly social life has picked right back yp6, it was easier to not drink at the beginning of the year when all I had was the sofa of an evening. @amdone123 I think we were on the same dry Jan thread. Nearer the time I may be up for sober Oct.

Evening all. Short message earlier as I was going to Zumba. I had to force myself but glad I did. Well, now Friday is the least of my worries as I'm going to a reunion on Thursday with staff from the school I worked in. I couldn't say no as all through Lockdown we've been talking about meeting up. And actually it will be lovely. I need a plan though otherwise I'm just going to end up drunk and stranded in town. I'm going to sleep on it. I've already decided that I'm going to have a large brunch ( meeting at 1pm). Good thing is I will eat as it's that kind of gathering. Friday now, like I said, is not bothering me as I'm going to take beer and snacks as well as having my tea before I go.

Def up for mostly sober September AND October.
I am on hols for 2 weeks and finding it impossible to be AF.
Too many lovely harbour bars, beach bars and nights around a campfire...
I have not been hungover, just constantly drinking about 3- 4 glasses daily- which is not healthy.
Mindful, but not moderate enough.
Mind you the same can be said regards to chips, crisps, pasties, chocolate hobnobs...!
