Shiny new thread to carry us onward through January

That's a good way of looking at it, that we all have to do this differently. For the first time in a long time I feel hope.

TSBelliot · 13/02/2021 09:17

Like your framing their peachy:)

Haggisfish - you are better off then you were this time last year so not doing shit.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 13/02/2021 10:03

I agree with @SantaMonicaPier there's no right or wrong way to do this. As long as we keep on supporting each other here without judgement.

I'd love to be able to moderate but right now I know that wouldn't happen - I'd be right back where I started. I'm also shamefully remembering the times I didn't want to go out to the cinema (pre lockdown) because it meant I couldn't have a drink - I don't ever want to let alcohol have that power over me again.

Hohofortherobbers · 13/02/2021 14:32

Yes, and the times I made excuses to go out locally rather than in friends towns so I could be the drinker on a night out. Or drinking extortionatly expensive crap wine out of plastic tumblers at a concert, what a waste! Should have just had a bottle of sparkling water. This seems such odd behaviour to me now.

Haggisfish · 13/02/2021 15:55

Thanks @TSBelliot-you’re right, I’m not doing shit. Well done everyone on their achievements-it is a twisted road with different turns for each of us, for sure!

OhioOhioOhio · 13/02/2021 15:56

I read on another thread that drinkers look haggered. I felt embarrassed. One of my best things is his my face has changed. How long af do we need to be before we get rid of the 'haggered' appearance? Obviously I can't ask anyone in real life.

SnoopyMcLoopy · 13/02/2021 16:38

@OhioOhioOhio well done on the less haggered look!

Moderating for me will mean Sunday to Thursday AF unless going out with friends. And then maybe try and keep to a bottle of wine across Friday and Saturday night. I've lost so much weight that I'm really aware of the calories, more than anything and I really don't want to undo all the hard work!

OhioOhioOhio · 13/02/2021 17:39

I wish I'd lost weight with it. I started baking!

Humphriescushion · 13/02/2021 17:50

I decided to have a drink, not wine since i actually think i have gone off it, a weak gin and tonic. So start of seeing if i can moderate. Feel fairly optimistic since have managed to moderate in the past for quite some time and hopefully this dry spell has set me back on track. Am going to be honest with myself and if it creeps up will go back dry.

PeacheyPeach · 13/02/2021 23:06

Hi all xx hope your all warm enough 😁
@ohioohioohio I keep looking in the mirror to see if I look different but personally I think I still look haggard 😀 but that might be because it's winter I always think I look better in the summer!

OhioOhioOhio · 14/02/2021 08:15

Yeah the next thing I have to tackle is the fizzy drinks but one thing at a time. I don't want to ruin my attitude to being af.

TSBelliot · 14/02/2021 10:18

I think I need to focus on the fizzy and diet. It’s been awful since I was AF and last night I got a bit drunk so need to reign it all back in. Need to keep health as the focus.

I don’t look haggard - fat face! I can’t see any difference at all either way. Am a bit wrinkly but that was the sun not the booze.

Am going to reduce fizz for a few days then cold turkey it along with crisps and chocolate. I want to be one of those women who drink a herbal tea with a few almonds on the side and call that a snack😂

I also want to do exercise everyday - I did dor ages then stopped and haven’t been able to start again. Working hours haven’t helped so need to get a handle on that too.

OhioOhioOhio · 14/02/2021 12:29

Yeah. My next addition to this is going to be exercise. Not sure what yet though.

SantaMonicaPier · 14/02/2021 12:49

I'm going to get fit too. I started the 90 day plan in the autumn but didn't finish it so will pick that back up

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 14/02/2021 13:29

DP is trying to tempt me today...saying it's Valentine's Day so a special occasions and wouldn't it be nice to share a bottle of wine. I'm struggling to say no.

OP posts:
SantaMonicaPier · 14/02/2021 13:36

You can stay strong Ghast. Awful he is actively tempting you though :(

Hohofortherobbers · 14/02/2021 14:28

Stay strong Ghast. Play the story to the end, bad night's sleep, hanganxiety, starting at day zero, feeling below par tomorrow, you know its not worth it to feel fuzzy for a few hours on the sofa

OhioOhioOhio · 14/02/2021 18:53

Why is he trying to take you off the af flow path?

teelizzy · 14/02/2021 19:46

Hi all. Heading into another week. My skin is definitely better but my weight has gone in the wrong direction and I don't really understand whyConfused Hoping it's just fluid retention though I did crack and have a slice of cheesecake on Friday night.

Anyway, plenty of fresh air and exercise today and an afternoon snooze on the sofa.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 14/02/2021 20:36

Ok ladies I had a little tumble off the wagon but I'm actually feeling pretty good about myself. DP bought 2 bottles of wine and poured me a glass. It didn't taste as good as I thought it would and I had one glass and decided that was enough for me.

DP is moaning a bit that the rest of the bottle will go off but I can't let him completely sabotage this for me.

OP posts:
PeacheyPeach · 14/02/2021 21:58

@myghastisflabbered that's fab it's shown how you can moderate and actually wine doesn't really taste all that nice after all. It's more that we have conditioned ourselves to believe it's what we need to relax

OhioOhioOhio · 14/02/2021 22:25

It's funny isn't it, how it's actually not that nice. What I miss is the ease at which I could occupy myself and fill up an evening. Now I'm stuck with the realisation that I'm mid forties and beginning all over again.

TSBelliot · 14/02/2021 22:27

I think mid forties is just right. The shit you know this time Ohio!

CandyLeBonBon · 14/02/2021 22:51

Hi all - back on the wagon and checking in to say hi!

OhioOhioOhio · 14/02/2021 23:25

TSBelliot That's such a lovely thing to say. Thank you.
