Checking in....

Still AF. Apparently I have saved £58 so far this year and 4272 calories.

I am not convinced with the impressive weight loss though - I think I might have to buy some new scales (or kid myself I have lost half a stone in 10 days...)

Hopped over Grin

blue I don’t own any scales but would love mine to tell me that! Instead I have my ‘fat’ jeans feeling tighter than ever Sad

Dinner tasted bland! Reckon it’s the first sober roast I have cooked in years! I had a can of seedlip and grapefruit ( sainsbury) and it was nice. Funny how I can just stop after one though with AF. Quite happy on the sparkling water now

Hi checking in for day 10. Just tried a Champions AF cider from Tesco-I'm not keen. It is low sugar but I just don't like the taste. Poured it away and having a Gordons AF G&T

Posted this on the original thread didn't realise we had a new home!!

Evening all ! DAY 10 🤗 can't believe how fast it has gone. Feeling like my body is getting rid of all the toxins that alcohol brings, my skin is looking a bit spotty but I feel like it's lost the puffiness.
I feel with AF wines and beers that for me they would be a trigger to actually start drinking again so I'm sticking with diet coke, I was going to have tonic the other night but just couldnt be bothered, as i realise i only like the sharp taste when it comes along with a "fuzzy feeling!!"
Everyone is doing great especially with everything going on at the minute, xxx

I'm having apple and pear flavour squash with chilled tonic water and ice, it's unexpectedly delicious and refreshing. Might ditch the pepsi max and make this my go to soft drink

Day 10 and I've done 6 out of 10 days AF. Feeling much, much better. Well done to everyone who's on a clear 10 days.

Really interested in the chat about AF drinks - had a Seedlip with ice and tonic water around 5, the time I'd normally be eyeing the wine bottle.

Here's to next week.

Morning all. Dog has eaten something he shouldn’t and wanted to get into the garden early, so come and got me. Whilst I wouldn’t call myself bright, stumbling to the back door with no hangover head was easy. I am really getting to like this feeling. The AF bit not the dog with dicky tummy bit.

Morning everyone. Double figures start today for me. I've got to get a grip on my sugar addiction - none of the clothes I ordered fitted. So...cutting down on treats it going to be tough but I've got a wedding dress to fit into by September! Hoping you lot can help me out!

Morning all. Start of Day 11 and checking in! Thought I’d really be struggling by now but aside from a daily fleeting urge, it’s been easier than I thought it would be ( perhaps I shouldn’t speak too soon Confused ) Am an early riser and often up about 5.30 and I love not having to mentally ( and physically ) check myself to see how bad I feel after a night on the wine!

@MyGhastIsFlabbered don’t know if this will work for you but I find eating mints/ menthol stops me wanting to stuff in calorific treats. Hate the taste of mint with anything else!!
LOVE chocolate though! Grin

Hi all, hope it's ok to jump on with you all! Exactly a week since I woke up (with a stinking hangover) and decided dry January was required. I have to admit that I haven't gone this long without a drink for perhaps years.. at least a year? Wow Blush I lurked a bit on your last thread, interested to read that some had disturbed sleep, I hadn't expected this but had a couple of nights waking at 1am (having just gone to bed) but that's gone now, and since day 1 the joy of waking without that slight hangover makes me feel very grateful. I intend to stick with it, no problems. But.. I have allowed myself to take my eye off the ball diet wise, intentionally as the priority has been AF, and now I need to grab this good and healthy feeling and start making better food choices (avoiding saying diet Grin) so glad to join you all in being accountable. Well done to all! Last year I would have skimmed the thread, sceptically, so I'm rather amazed with myself.

Hello thread 2! Welcome @MrsMcBoatface!!! Well done! Is anyone else struggling to wake up in the morning. My body just wants to sleep and sleep and sleep! When drinking I would wake with hangover and stay awake. Now I just can’t prize myself out of bed! Not helping wfh!!!

Hi everyone ! Can I join please?

I’ve gained an unbelievable 16 pounds since our first lockdown Blush I have a very nice bought and paid for beer belly!!
Due to peri menopause I can’t drink wine and can’t handle spirits so I’m a bugger for the gluten free beer that I guzzle like a navvy sailer.
Anyway...it was all ... as soon as lockdowns over etc..., but really I can’t wait anymore.
I’ve done 10 days dry and I must admit it has been pretty easy so far...especially for some one who has been drinking at least 4 days per week - probably more like 6 some weeks. I reckon I’ve been inhaling approx 3000 calories per week on booze.
I think at this point I am so sick of being hungover and tired and bloated, it is bloody exhausting.

Report
IheartJKR · 11/01/2021 09:20

Also, I agree with above, I wake up heavy and exhausted every morning, initially my brain thinks I’m hungover until I remember I’m not!!

Report
SwiftyFifty · 11/01/2021 09:25

@IheartJKR yes I’m with you on the total exhaustion from being hungover all the time. It’s draining and I now wonder how I used to function
Sleeping like a log and yes struggling to get out of bed! Also reading Alcohol Lied to me by Craig Beck ( mentioned way up the last thread) and it has really made me think.
I am incredulous too that I am on day 11.
I have realised ( which helps) that quite often I would be thirsty/ hungry and reach fir the wine. Do I have sparkling water on the go especially late afternoon and it seems to take away the urge

I feel so much better. Dramatically so. However I weight myself and I've put on 2 pounds!!! WHAT!

I have got a stone and a half to lose so it's really given me the kick I needed. Wasn't too hard on myself last week as wanted to focus on giving up the booze.

@SwiftyFifty are you a swifty hence user name?

@showmethegin. I’ve not lost any weight either... but I’ve started running 5 k again 3X per week as soon as it starts getting dark Grin

I’ll tackle my food next - just perhaps in stages!
