Thread 8 for Tryers to be Dryers.

Join in for help and support and lots of laughs to reduce alcohol. Whatever you want to achieve with your alcohol intake, whether it's alcoholidays, dry days, less booze in general we are all in the same boat.

More threads floating around but I can't do clicky links. Just look for Wankerbastards and you will find us.

Here you go madame, it's a good size, not the strongest of hutches but fine for a couple of Guinea pigs.

Not dry here. Having 1 beer and 1 gin then my dinner and off to bed. Am knackered and headachey and periody. Been running around all over again today. Ponies, shopping, allotment, swimming lesson, plus work and ds passport application.

BabyPony is going fabulous though, really pleased with her. Going to get on next week again and just go for it.

Oh FML.

DD off school with a temperature of 103 (sorry - am an ardent Remainer, but still don't know what that is in modern speak Blush). So my long-laid plans for a bit of daytime bumsex were not fulfilled. And I am not dry as a result.

Will catch up properly in a bit. But FML meanwhile.

longestlurkerever · 02/10/2019 20:25

Hello everyone. Sorry i fell off the radar for a bit. Bit of a mad week trying to squeeze hosting my cousin and allowing the kids to make a fuss of my birthday around work, woodcraft folk commitments, interview prep and application for leadership course thing. Had interviews Monday and today. They went ok i think but no idea if i did well enough to get the job. Tbh slightly terrified of idea of getting it anyway though it would at least put to bed the "should i/shouldn't i apply for promotion" question for at least another 10 years and give me some headspace.

Suddenly feel really rubbish though - quite sick. Don't know if it is the aftermath of running on adrenaline and poor sleep, delayed hangover after overdoing the birthday wine/dutch courage or this uti getting worse. Pain and blood in wee has gone but still have dull ache in abdomen and lower back. Will consult dr tomorrow.

Sorry for me me me. Will try to catch up. Good luck to those doing Sober October. It did cross my mind that a socially acceptable excuse for not drinking would be good but a month is a long time.

Great news about the dragon boating and NC4's lovely ds1 and gf.

longestlurkerever · 02/10/2019 20:26

Crossed posts with a momentous one from dion. Sorry about dd but perhaps your back passage is less sorry!

longestlurkerever · 02/10/2019 20:33

Ps loving the story of the posh hutch!

Frouby · 02/10/2019 21:07

Yeah your dd did your bum a favour dion 😂😂😂.

Only had the one beer in the end, couldn't be bothered to make a gin so decided I didn't want it enough. Am in bed, not sure if I am coming down with something or am just tired. Been headachey for 3 days.

OP posts:
MadameForest · 02/10/2019 21:13

That's a luxury hutch! In France I'd pay twice the price. I will try and get one delivered to my Dad so he can bring it out when he visits in October.
Dion I hope DD gets better soon. Bum sex is fine once you get used to it, and any sex is good when you don't get it often if your DP is away a lot.
Longest I have everything crossed for you. I think you underestimate your capabilities. You already do so much with your work, your family responsibilities, epecially with your DP being ill.

Dionysa · 02/10/2019 21:15

Am back.

Loving the piggies' new home, Frouby. My piggies were always a bit slow to adust, but they got there in the end. Grin

There is not a sodding chance of me doing the whole of October, if I can't even do a single night. I am not a natural nurse.

NC4, it's lovely when older teenagers show their nice side. That's lovely about DS1 and Miss Pink T.

Frouby, you remind me why my DD needs a hobby other than Snapchat. Your DD sounds fab, and the Dragon Boating is a brilliant hobby for her.

How are you, Blissa? Am thinking of you.

Longest... What a time you have had. Lack of bumsex is hardly the same! I am not sure what to wish for you. I suppose I think that everything tends to work out in the end, and I just hope that it works out ok for you. You are such a lovely, funny, selfless person, and we are all rooting for you. x. (My back passage may be grateful, but I am not Sad).

Flossie, I am thinking of you. xx

morningperson · 02/10/2019 21:20

evening everyone

Coming to the end of day 2. Coping nicely. It has helped that my boss has been on holiday this week of course!! (yippee!!). been gym tonight and feeling good on it. I want to be AF until i go away with DH on 14th Oct. i know i'll drink on holiday but hopefully i'll come up with some sort of plan to still enjoy self without feeling shite the next day!

Longest - good luck with the job hunting.

BLOODY FUCKING ECK! DH JUST WALKED IN HAVING WON MASSIVE BOTTLE OF GIN IN A RAFFLE! I've told him get it away from me bloody quick!!!!!

Dion - poor DD, hope she's feeling better soon.

Blissa - hope you're ok.

Keep soldiering on you Sober-October peeps.

Finding the posh hutch and bum talk hilarious by the way ha ha!!

Night all xxx

SenselessUbiquity · 02/10/2019 21:46

Hello hello!
I've missed you all.
Welcome to the new people!

I have been crazy busy. Terrible week for booze last week as had family around; the second they left i went back to zero again. Feel so tired and yet blissfully calm in the aftermath.

I haven't made it to a second SMART meeting, I really want to / wanted to and haven't had a tuesday evening (or any other evening) free since.
Can't next week either.

I've read all your news and I'm looking forward to hanging out with you lot again. You help to keep me honest!

Flossie44 · 02/10/2019 22:06

Passing thru. Manically stressful week, again!! Dad back in hospital, I’m in London again with both my girls as dd has had her GOsH appointment. My dad is back in hospital poorly again.
I just want ‘normal’ but don’t know what that is anymore.

I’m in awe of you lovely strong ladies who are doing dry October!! Amazing!!

Will catch up with you all properly tomorrow when home again.

Dion...as frouby said..dd saved your bum!! 😂

NC4Now · 02/10/2019 22:16

Poor Dion's bum. I do love a bit of afternoon delight. Not the bum variety though. I've been swiping away this week but my heart arse isn't really in it.

I also need someone to install my new fridge. If Tinder could also find me a handyman I'd be laughing.

Day three here. I went to step for the first time since 1998 and was hopeless at it, but at least I tried.

Great to see you back Senseless. Happy hump day to the rest of you lovely lot.

Flossie44 · 02/10/2019 22:22

Omg step aerobics!! You’re taking me back nc4!! I think if I did step aerobics these days, a bit of wee would come out every time I did a jump!!

Waterandlemonjuice · 02/10/2019 22:27

Longest, good luck, good for you for going for it

Dionysa, dd did the same to me last week, she had a cold so daytime shag with dh, who was working at home, was stymied. Ewww at bumsex though, just not my thing!

Not AF, cooked chicken, roast potatoes, roast veg, needed wine so...

Will be tomorrow though as im driving

Waterandlemonjuice · 02/10/2019 22:28

Flossie sorry about your dad and hope GOSH goes ok

Dionysa · 02/10/2019 22:30

Hump Day is not funny, NC4. That is what it was supposed to be. And now it isn't. It is a Day of Thermometers and Celibacy Angry Angry Grin

I sort of wonder if DD is really a man, as she is telling me she might need to go to A&E.

As for Day Three, NC4. Wow. Is it the Cloak of Sobriety that has done the business?

Thank you for the kind words, Madame. The thing about le Bumsex is that there is no risk of pregnancy (although I am too old anyway, though DP probably thinks I'm younger than I am, just because I'm younger than he is). And after many years of no sex, I'll have it however it's offered, quite frankly. Though I do have to be prepared for this eventuality. DP is very keen, and it makes me wonder slightly if it's because DC1's nightmare birth and resulting prolapse loosened everything up rather too much.

Glad you checked in, Flossie, but so, so sorry about all you are having to deal with. There's not much chance of me having a dry day in October, never mind a month, if that's any consolation. xx

MadameForest · 02/10/2019 22:35

Nc4 I'm a veteran of online dating but Tinder never resulted in anything much other than a few married men who thought they were fabulous and wanted a mistress. I had a few free lunches as although tempting the reality of being second priority never really appealed. It was the pay sites that worked for me, the people there were more serious I found.
Congratulations on the step class I was always incapable of mirroring moves done by an instructor!

NC4Now · 02/10/2019 23:14

The Cloak of Sobriety is working wonders Dion. Once that beaut is on there’s no chance of me popping to the shop.

Flossie you do have such a lot on your plate. I wish we could help somehow.

I know what you mean about Tinder Madame. I do the rounds a bit on OLD. Is that where you meet Mr Forest?

MadameForest · 03/10/2019 07:14

NC4 I met Mr F on a French site Meetic which I think comes under the Match.com umbrella. Turns out that we have a couple of mutual aquaintances but I don't think we would ever have met in real life.
Not AF last night, we were invited for an apéro by my neighbour because I'm looking after her hens while she is on holiday, followed by wine and yet another crap night's sleep. Thankfully working at home today.
Dion OMG poor you for the birth of DC1! It sounds horrifying. I'm surprised you even went for a DC2 after that.

Frouby · 03/10/2019 07:37

I watched a bit of The Highland Midwife last night. Went to bed wondering how the fuck the human race survives. Both mine were C sections (breach babies) so I have never been in labour. Which I used to be sad about, but now, not so much.

Quieter day here today thank fuck. Not got any work to do for once. So going to do BabyPony then come home, make a lasagne for dinner plus a veggie one for dd, then clean for a couple of hours. And have absolutely no plans for the weekend. Kayaking is cancelled as lake still flooded, no parties, no ferrying dd around. I might even do the weekend shop tomorrow to avoid having to even leave the house!

Saw this and thought of us!

It's my dsis's due date today. Can't say i envy her the next few months!

NC4Now · 03/10/2019 10:35

Ooh, exciting about your DSis Longest. Make sure you ring her every few hours and ask her if it's started yet. Then suggest curry and sex. Pregnant ladies love that shit when they're overdue.

Waterandlemonjuice · 03/10/2019 10:49

NC4 pmsl at ‘pregnant ladies love that shit’

Dion, I wasn’t remotely criticising le bumsex, sorry if it sounded like it 💐 sorry you had a bad birth.

I woke at 1am, was awake for a couple of hours, drank loads of water and woke again at 10am, so consequently feel fine!

Have amended my teacup on my app for yesterday to show that I drank. Will be AF tonight as driving from 9pm - 11pm.

Well done everyone who’s still dry.

Stircrazyschoolmum · 03/10/2019 13:12

Happy lunchtime everyone! Ticking away on day 3 and thankfully a lot less anxious. I did wake up at 2.30 am thinking we were being burgled (bloody cat) but the up side is I’d usually be too sozzled to notice. 😬

Wetting myself reading about bumsex or lack of it. 😆 (That also happens when I attempt our gyms trampolining class, those with weak pelvic floors have my full sympathy) Not sure I could face tinder myself, although I have a friend who seems very successful on it.

I hope DD is better soon Dion and your dad too flossie.

frouby sorry your kayaking got cancelled, is there something else fun you could do? A home pamper or bake something really decadent if you want to stay home? I’m not good at staying in the house I start looking for bottles to open!

madame I have a working cocker spaniel, he is young and mad as a box of frogs, DH calls him my job creation scheme, all I seem to do these days is walk him and pick up dog hair! Bless your collie, they love to have jobs to do!

Frouby · 03/10/2019 13:58

stircrazy my ds loves cockers, he's desperate for a puppy but our whippet would eat it. Plus I don't think I could dedicate the time to a crazy pup. My ddog is very happy snoozing 23 hours a day. And refuses to walk if the weather is cold, wet, windy, snow has her looking for somewhere discreet to piddle inside and she doesn't like it too hot either 😂😂.

I am very looking forward to a quiet weekend! Have stuff on at least the next 3 weekends, plus ds is booked into indoor kayaking on a Saturday afternoon for the next 8 weeks. So a weekend pottering at home is bliss. Going to have a couple of hours on the allotment Saturday and that's as many plans as we have.

Just having a coffee, then allotment and school run. Then might walk down to the lake with ds and ddog to look at the flooding. Apparently dragonboating is on tonight but don't want dd going. She's not well and I don't think 2 hours in the cold will help her at all. Wish me luck on getting her to stay in!
