Terry I moderate quiet well by not drinking my favourite drinks which are beer and wine. I find them really easy to keep drinking. So if I al aiming to moderate I have gin amd tonic. I enjoy a gin and tonic, but it's more of a faff to make than opening another beer or topping a glass up.

Currently drinking a diet coke. Not my favourite but it's gassy enough to make me not want anything fizzy. Have been mad busy today, then loads to do tomorrow. Dcs are currently arguing while eating their dinner. Dh is oh so very tired and I am trying a new recipe out tonight and tbh I would rather just have a jacket spuds and beans.

So trying very hard to stay dry. But may break and have a gin once ds in bed. Possibly.

Ooo frouby, what’s your recipe??
I’m inventing a recipe tonight too..going to make an asparagus, pea and mushroom risotto. Never made it before. Dh won’t eat it because it’s got green in it (ffs), so I’m making him a steak wrap. Sounds kind of me but it really isn’t!! Cut a sirloin, flash fry and bung it in a wrap with red onion and mustard mayo!! Meanwhile I get to eat green!!
As for washing it down..I’m trying your logic tonight frouby....I love nothing more than a ice cold Pinot. And like you say, so easy to top up. So tonight I’ve bought a bottle of red. I can’t really drink more than a glass of that before I’m either feeling tiddled or have indigestion!! So watch this space!! Hoping for the former, not the latter!!

Frouby · 05/06/2019 17:59

It's bang bang chicken from Pinch of Nom I think, so sw friendly but does have syns. Basically its chicken, med veg and a spicy, cheesy sauce with pasta. Will let you know what it's like.

Good luck with the red wine, I quite like a glass of red and it's not as easy to knock back as white so you might be onto something there.

Gives me a banging headache though.

Flying by, but hugs for Water. 💐

Work all day, and I have now just been invited to a drinks party, so Day 2 will not happen. I could go and drink water, but it would be a waste of free wine. FML.

Will catch up properly tomorrow morning. I need Frouby's bang bang recipe too!

Frouby · 05/06/2019 20:11

It was very tasty and pretty easy to make. Its a Slimming Eats recipe, just google bang bang chicken pasta and it should come up.

Was very filling though, have a big bowl left over for lunch tomorrow. It was pretty sweet though, if I do it again I would use more sriracha sauce and less sweet chilli I reckon.

Flossie have made dd Mediterranean Veg pasta for her dinner. Its a tray of prepared supermarket veg baked in oven. Once its done squirt about an inch of tomato puree in, then tear up a ball of mozzarella cheese up and chuck it on. Chuck it back in the oven until your cheese is all melty, then stir the whole lot including the juices through some hot pasta.

It's lovely, quite healthy and really easy to make. I sometimes do it for me if DH fancies something I don't.

Managed to stay dry tonight, yay me. That's 4 nights in a row. Slept really well last night for the first time in ages, didn't wake up at all. Got up at 5.30am to do a couple of hours work before school run. Am tired now though. Off to bed to read soon.

Well done frouby. Thank you everyone the commiserations, you’re all lovely. Im a lot better today, had a good day and although I’m drinking its fine!

NC4Now · 05/06/2019 21:14

Glad today is better Water. You’ve had a tough time.
I love the sound of your med veg Frouby. I might give that a whirl.
My day has been shite with a capital shite. DS2 refused school again. Then I went to get my coil removed (fun) and the doctor said she doesn’t like the look of my cervix so she’s sending me for a colposcopy, sharpish.
Work piling up, then DS1 came home in a mood, set DS2 off. My mum came over and he was spectacularly rude to her.
I wanted wine but DS1 has banned me and made me a huge brew instead. But someone’s eaten the last of the Battenburg cake I bought to console myself.
Pity party for one over here. I should just go to bed.

longestlurkerever · 05/06/2019 21:14

Well done Frouby! I am on the fizz to celebrate pulling off dd2's birthday. Got her new room in a presentable state (not quite finished), took her and DN to Kew work jolly and even managed a couple of hours work including an hour long conference call with the Treasury while kids played in sandpit. Work life balance win.

I don't know what's got in to me though as as well as dishwasher incident I seem to have been instrumental in inciting almighty bust up in local Facebook group. I just piped up in solidarity with someone I thought was getting an unreasonable kicking, saying I thought on a grown up forum there was room for a bit of dissent without fear of civilisation collapse, and all hell broke loose, with mods kicking off accusing me and anyone who agreed with me of bullying them and threatening to close the site. Then all the "you don't need this hun" brigade joined in. Fucksake. I didn't even agree with the woman, just thought mods were overreacting a bit. Must learn to sit on hands. In fact have done so since and have quietly unfollowed group as was clear anything I said was going to fan the flames. Was like Mumsnet only it's not anonymous and am now worried about being total pariah on school run.

longestlurkerever · 05/06/2019 21:23

Oh NC4 I'm sorry, we crossed posts and mine seems so facetious next to yours. Hugs re colposcopy. It's not something I've got experience of but think it's quite common? Sorry for dses being difficult too.

IrisAtwood · 05/06/2019 21:34

Day 2 AF🙂

Flossie44 · 05/06/2019 21:39

Hugs to NC4 💐. You’ve done amazing not to drink through tonight!! Stay strong 💪🏼

Longest - ahhhhhhg that’s awful. Such a horrid feeling. Hope you ok. Hope it didn’t dampen your dd’s bday.

Dion - enjoy your party!! Take pressure off yourself lovely and let your hair down. You deserve this 🍷

Frouby - omg the veg pasta sounds incredible!!!!!!! How many syns would that be?? I’m starting SW. I can’t make group on Friday so a friend and I are planning on weighing at home that day instead!!

Had half a glass of white wine..dd stopped breathing again earlier this eve again. I was relaxed and took my eye off the ball. Could cry as she was doing so well. Like a wake up call. We dealt with it at home thank god! Only had half glass of white cos had promised myself not to have any. I then had half a glass of red with my risotto and I’m still hugging it now!! It’s so gorgeous that I don’t want it to end!!

As for risotto....totally bloody orgasmic!!

NC4Now · 05/06/2019 21:56

Oh Flossie I know what you mean about wake up call. Totally different issues, but I’ve had two ‘good’ days with DS and relaxed into it.
I really want some of your risotto and red wine. He’s still kicking off now.

Longest the internet is full of loonys. I wouldn’t worry. They’ll all be too embarrassed to look you in the eye IRL.

Re colposcopy, she said the vast majority of these things are benign, so I’m not going to worry till there’s something to worry about. It made my coil removal harder though.

Theme of my week: having bits of metal inserted into various body parts. At least my nose has settled down 😂

Terrysyogurt · 05/06/2019 22:37

Great advice guys thanks, especially agree with changing to a drink i don't like as much as wine and beer are just too easy to drink.

longestlurkerever · 05/06/2019 23:11

NC4 I can empathise as finally have scan to find awol coil on Tuesday. Fuck knows where it has gone.

Flossie, want to give you another squeezy hug. Thanks for your sympathy re silly internet thing. I actually didn't sleep very well but felt silly letting it bother me so much.

Frouby · 06/06/2019 06:58

Flossie 50g of mozzerala cheese is either a HEA or 6 syns, so the med pasta dish is free if you use your HEA. I never count my A choice, you get 2 these days and I get nowhere near using them both every day so on the odd occasion I have cheese I don't measure it.

NC sorry your cervix is being a wankerbastard. I have always wanted to know what mine looks like though, will you get scan pictures? I would google cervix images but I darent incase I get something dodgy come up.

Longest the internet is full of weirdos. Just ignore them. If anyone asks just say you got bored with watching the drama unfold so deleted yourself because you are too smart to get involved in shit like that.

Iris well done, the first 2 days are always the hardest I find.

Will possibly make 5 days dry today which is bloody unheard of. Ds has kayaking until about 8ish tonight, by which time I will hopefully have gone past drink oclock. Am mega busy today and tomorrow, combination of work and ponies and life in general so near a clear head. Dd also has her d of e expedition at the weekend so will be up early Saturday as well.

I feel much better for being busy I must admit.

NC4, what a horrible day. I hope today is better, esp with DS2.

I'm so sorry about the Facebook incident, too, Longest. Bloody social media. It must be like this for teenagers (especially girls) all the time. Hideous.

Frouby, I'm gobsmacked by your four days.

Flossie, hugs for you and DD.

Iris, well done on Day 2. Day 1 always feels like an achievement, and Day 2 well-nigh impossible.

Last night was definitely not AF, but it could have been worse, in fact. I had the equivalent of about half a bottle of wine. Then a non-drinking friend offered me a lift home, and I thought that was a better bet than a mega-expensive taxi. I had half a mind to polish off the half bottle of red at home, but by the time I'd spent half an hour dealing with emails, it was 11.30 and I'd lost interest. So I went to bed instead.

Rushing to work now...

Flossie44 · 06/06/2019 10:24

Just saying now.....tonight won’t be AF!! Fml

Canshopwillshop · 06/06/2019 10:54

Waterandlemonjuice - glad you are feeling better today, sending hugs.

NC4 - hope you get your appt very soon and all is ok which, in the majority of cases, these things turn out to be. Well done for staying AF.

Longest - I’m sure your internet bust up will soon be old news and the school run folk will move on to something else to gossip about. Just hold your head high for acting like a grown up and distancing yourself.

Madameforest - we flew as far as Scotland but then got overnight ferry. It’s quite a journey but so worth it. You can fly all the way but it is sooo expensive.

Frouby - you are going for it this week! Well done.

Flossie - hope you are ok Flowers

Dionysa - half a bottle is not too bad. Same as me in fact.

Hi to newbies and welcome.

Have been rubbish at being AF, excuse being I’ve got major post holiday blues. I’m just so aware that precious family holidays like that are not going to carry on for much longer with DD turning 15 this year. Getting all maudlin about it and wishing I could slow down time! However I haven’t been going mad - half a bottle of wine a night. Still too much I know ...

MadameForest · 06/06/2019 15:20

NC4 I'm sure everything will be OK, it is good that any anomaly is dealt with asap so probably just as well you went to have your coil removed. I could never have one, my cervix is in such a weird position badly that it kept falling out and my gynaecologist gave up.

Longest I hope the FB thing blows over. Online can be so cruel, I'm sure it will soon be forgotten

Dion glad you had a good evening and half a bottle isn't much at all for an evening out

Frouby wow 4 days, keeping busy really does work

Flossie 2 half glases is serious moderation, I hope DD is OK

Canshop Half a bottle isn't too bad so dont't beat yourself up, especially post holiday. DC do grow up too quickly, my DD will be off to university in September and I'll miss her loads, even if I won't miss the am starts. Saying that, I'm not sure how she will manage clothes wise, when I dropped her off at the bus stop this morning she was wearing one of DP's shirts, a pair of my jeans and my trainers. I'd never have been seen dead in my mum's clothes at her age.

Not dry last night, was on the go all day and fancied a glass of wine. Ended up drinking half a bottle. Have signed for a new house today (a new but very old house in need of serious renovation). Hopefully we'll be in during the summer.

NC4Now · 06/06/2019 16:16

How are you doing today Longest?

longestlurkerever · 06/06/2019 18:26

Oh you are all sweethearts! I didn't expect such sympathy! Am all right thanks. Too busy to think about it really and have not done school run for a couple of days. WL do tomorrow but peeped on board and it's l back to boring normal so hoping it'll be yesterday's news as you say. Will be AF tonight. Need to carry on working. Am hoping next week will be better, was own fault for overcommitting this week.

How about you NC4?

Madame, congratulations! How exciting.

Canshop with a cool place like that to host your reunion I bet your kids will join your reunions as adults. I went on something similar a couple of times in my 20s. I do know what you mean about time passing though. I will soon have no preschoolers which feels milestone enough.

Frouby you are a role model moderator!

Flossie44 · 06/06/2019 18:51

Ahh longest, im glad things are looking brighter today. Well done on AF

Madame - congrats!! How exciting!! I love moving to a new home, a new chapter and so exciting!!

Frouby - go you!! Moderation amazing!!

Had a totally utterly shit day!! Too outing if I go into much detail. But a part of it included dd needing paramedics at school again!! Every time I stand up, I get kicked down!! Fml

NC4Now · 06/06/2019 18:59

Glad it looks like blowing over Longest.

My week’s going from bad to worse! My best friend has fallen out with me now. FML.

I’m getting tired of the drama there, and her expecting me to justify myself to her.

So that’s today’s drama. I am heartily looking forward to 9pm when if I still want wine I’m going to bloody have it.

Terrysyogurt · 06/06/2019 20:30

Checking in, day 4!! Really chuffed but my big test will be my first night out which isn't for a couple of weeks!! But happy I'm doing well.

Frouby · 06/06/2019 21:26

NC did you have wine? I can't be doing with dramas. Tell best friend to go be dramatic somewhere else and I will be your new bestie Grin.

Day 5 in the bag. I cannot remember the last time I had day 5. Probably 3 years ago when I did dry January? For 3 whole weeks.

Did think I might break when I got in from kayaking, had a becks blue and promised myself a gin if I still fancied one after. But by then tea was half done so I didn't bother.

They got the paddle boat out today after kayaking. The kids are nuts, taking it in turns to jump off it then hoisting each other back in. Would share a photoe but there are other kids in it so I darent.
