Hi,

I'm beginning my adoption journey in 2017, as a potential single adopter.

Please join me and we can learn, get advice and share as we travel this journey together!

Hi patientlywaiting, how strange we are both in Kent! We found the adoption event really useful, we had already decided that we wouldn't ask to proceed to visit tonight and that we would go away and discuss further before that. We have chatted about it and we are neither deciding to go for it or to not go for lol we have some concerns and decisions to make before we decide whether to go for it or to rule it out and put it to bed if you know what I mean. Bit the event itself was fantastic and very well organised and full of useful info! hth x

Hi everyone...we are just starting our journey too. We get married in 5 weeks time! We made the initial enquiry yesterday and have been invited to an information evening in June as we are away for the one in May!

I have 3 BC but my almost DH has none. We came to adoption after not wanting to go down the IVF route.

I've always wanted to foster and my life has led me to this point where I can't add another Bio child and so we are hoping to explore F2A (obviously needs careful consideration and lots of advice due to my BC).

Welcome MoomooMummy01, hoping the wedding preps are going well for next month!

Have just found out we have gotten through to stage 2 and begin again 1st July. Lots of work around the house to be done in the meanwhile as the social workers specified that these need to be done before we move on.

CantThinkOfAUserNameThatILike · 30/04/2017 14:22

Hi DeegeeDee. I am, I think, midway through stage 1. Just about to start my prep courses. Can I ask is is your choice to start stage to in July or your adoption agency?

DeegeeDee · 30/04/2017 16:03

Hi CantThinkOfAUserNameThatILike

It is our decision. You have six months in which, having been given approval to move to Stage 2, to start. We decided that it would be a good time as OH is a teacher and will mean when the interviews come around he will probably only need to take 1-2 days off for them at the most.

If you wait longer than 6 months, you may have to do most of Stage 1 again - special circumstances are allowed if longer but will be a discussion between you, SWs and the agency.

Good luck!

CantThinkOfAUserNameThatILike · 02/05/2017 18:04

Thank you @DeegeeDee for answering my question. The process is so slow. So even if they give you timescales of completing one process you don't know how soon the next process will start.

Good luck x

earthyambitions · 06/05/2017 18:45

Just dipping in again to say good luck to everyone wherever they are in the process. We now have a panel date for August and rumblings that something might be in the pipeline for us by then but obviously nothing is anywhere near certain yet.

DeegeeDee · 07/05/2017 11:04

Yes Earthyambitions! Good luck x

Congrats exercisejunkie

Chocogoingcuckoo · 08/05/2017 20:34

Yay well done exercisejunkie. We had a good meeting just waiting for LO's workers feeding back after our form F's being sent but sounds positive so far. Finger's crossed.

earthyambitions · 08/05/2017 22:11

Keeping everything crossed for you choco!

CantThinkOfAUserNameThatILike · 28/07/2017 06:34

I'm just waiting to start stage two. 😄

KenAdams · 03/08/2017 16:27

Hi all were just starting stage one. We have one DD already but will struggle to have any more due to medical issues.

HI all, welcome KenAdams

Have kicked off stage 2 later than planned due to the LA not allocating a SW but have now had initial meeting with her. Although on hold due to summer. Full speed ahead from September especially as they've pencilled us for an assessment panel in November.

Spending the time re-reading the work we did for Stage 1 and the books they've suggested. After nearly 4 months off, need to get up to speed again :-)
