Well that was hardly worth watching. What a load of vacuous drivel. Like she doesn't give a monkeys!

@Plbrookes He didn't take out a super-injunction.

I agree. Too many people making shit up now. As if the truth wasn't enough

The truth isn’t enough for some people. They want this to be bigger. It’s like they are willing for a long list of children to be groomed and for TM to be in on it. The facts are sad enough without vultures wanting more. An innocent young man has had his personal life in the press for weeks. I hope he’s ok.

diamondpony80 · 05/06/2023 13:07

I supposed if his wife and daughters didn't know then it is conceivable that she didn't know what he was up to either. I'm sure she at least had her suspicions though, which meant she probably already knew how she was going to handle it when the story broke. The way she read that statement didn't feel at all heartfelt or genuine as someone who was supposed to be talking about her best friend. She read it as though it was something that was handed to her just before she went live, rather than a personal statement. I do think she can't win no matter how she handles this though.

Holly didn’t write that speech I guarantee.

I think that Hollys speech was written by ITV, to leave Schofield isolated and leave all the blame with him. So ITV can shun any responsibility.
And so the show can move on and leave PS to face the music on his own. ITV have literally got their barge pole out.

Quite.

As for what did folk want her to say?

Her own words probably. Not a slick statement that conveniently doesn’t say ‘I/we didn’t know’ or “he lied to me/us’”.

Just ‘he wasn’t telling the truth’.

hotsummerlovin · 05/06/2023 13:10

Asking me if I'm ok now? Wasn't bothered about me last week when she was living it up in Portugal, was she? 😂

Dillydollydingdong · 05/06/2023 13:11

It's all about Holly of course.

@Iwasafool what makes him guilty is the secrecy, the fact that everyone knew about him and this boy and said nothing. The photos of them both together. Would you be ok if it were your son suddenly dating when he came of age (if that's what actually happened) Him getting him the job on TM. Him telling his brother not to do it again rather than report him. So many poor decisions.

I would always stand up for myself but openly, not just shutting down the news completely. He should have made a statement at the time, not taken out the injunction.

Oh yes be open, lets all discuss it because that is going so well isn't it.

Why do people keep talking about "the boy" He's a man in his 20s isn't he? We were all kids once but we aren't now so I'm not a girl even though I once was and neither are you and neither is this man who as far as we know had consensual sex with another man. If he wants you to know anything else I'm sure he will let you know.

My sons have dated some young women I'd prefer they'd never known but you know once they are 18 they are adults and can date, and have sex, with whoever they want.

Ladybug14 · 05/06/2023 13:47

It was cringey. Are we OK? What the actual?! Lies lies and more lies with a bit of patronising drivel for good measure

Mind you... her hair looked nice Confused

Exactly. On another thread last week the age of people he'd groomed was getting younger and younger, the man concerned (known as the boy) was anything between a preschooler and a 14 year old with people's imaginations going crazy.

Iwasafool · 05/06/2023 13:54

OrbandSpectacle · 05/06/2023 12:58

If I was him I'd be consulting lawyers and some of my targets would be on here.

Oh FFS 🙄

Have you had a look at the accusations, not just this thread but MN? People calling him a paedophile, one thread even insinuating he was going on family holidays with friends so he could groom their kids. You seriously wouldn't see a lawyer if people were saying that about you? How weird. Wonder why you feel like that?

PrincessMyshkin · 05/06/2023 14:01

StemStem · 05/06/2023 12:57

She has no remorse. She failed to take any responsibility. She is ruthless and will play the idiot for as long as she can because her ego is bigger than his.

But remorse or responsibility for what though? Genuine question because this is what's not clear.

Why should she have a worse outcome than PS even if she did know he had slept with a much younger male colleague? What was she supposed to do if he was of age? TV and film are full of established older stars having affairs. If the runner wasn't underage then what could she have actually done?

HW isnt accused of grooming anyone. And the outcome would be worse because she has 20 more years of her career left than PS so if she was sacked and ostracised from TV now, she wouldn't be left with a comfortable, if clouded, early retirement, she would be left wondering what to do with herself for the next half of her working life.

And if it was consensual it is no one's business even if there is an age gap. There are plenty of age gap relationships that work. I don't understand why people need to judge.

Kittykatmeowzers · 05/06/2023 14:09

@PrincessMyshkin
The same goes for PS…he slept with someone younger than him while married. Not a great move but many before him have done the same.

He should have apologised for lying and cheating on his wife, and then carried on with his life, career included.

Not sure if it’s down this out new ‘woke’ culture or what but this witch hunt is absurd.

Kittykatmeowzers · 05/06/2023 14:10

@Iwasafool
my husband is 20yrs older than me, age doesn’t mean anything.

Kittykatmeowzers · 05/06/2023 14:10

Look at Roberts De Niro and Al Pacino…there are tons of examples

This whole thing has been a fascinating study in how perfectly rational people can lose their minds in a mob.

I keep hearing this " woke " what does it mean?

Kittykatmeowzers · 05/06/2023 14:19

@hotsummerlovin
to be alert to prejudice and discrimination

It’s been take too far, IMO, in that people are now looking for and twisting things to create injustice where there is none

Well, consensual is one thing. But being groomed from age 14(?) getting him a job, showing an abnormal level of interest in him, then waiting until he's of age is at best seedy

Brumbies · 05/06/2023 14:46

Who does she tho k she is? She's a daytime TV presenter, not Gandhi

But the point is, why is HW responsible at all for this?
