Well that was hardly worth watching. What a load of vacuous drivel. Like she doesn't give a monkeys!

@Paul2023
i don’t believe this would have happened if he’d been shagging a woman behind his wife’s back.

HaveWeGotAnyCake · 05/06/2023 16:45

Her statement was utter drivel. So melodramatic and insincere.

SlipSlidinAway · 05/06/2023 16:53

Now imagine if he admitted then that he’d been having an affair with another woman. His career would have probably ended then. But it didn’t.

But why? BoJo was shagging everything that moved when he was still married, then started a relationship with someone about 25 years his junior. And we made him PM Confused

Stalkedbyzombies · 05/06/2023 17:20

She got too close to the person who was essentially a colleague (and vice-versa). Nobody should ever buy a house next door to a colleague even if you get on well. Imagine how awkward it will be for both of them now. Bribing agents to compare diaries to make sure they both aren't there at the same time!

Papergirl1968 · 05/06/2023 17:21

Holly's oh so sincere statement was about as weird as Martin Frizell's response to a Sky News reporter. "Do you like aubergines? Because I don't!"
WTAF?

lastminutewednesday · 05/06/2023 17:24

I had no real opinion on this until I happened across her statement on Twitter just now. I thought she sounded a bit patronising, a bit fake, very rehearsed (understandable) and not very believable-but let's hope this is an end to it.

It's not important Enough to warrant the press inches it's getting

Stalkedbyzombies · 05/06/2023 17:24

We all know what the aubergine emoji represents! 😁

Kittykatmeowzers · 05/06/2023 18:12

I feel angry for him…lying is wrong but he wanted to keep his personal life private, just like many cheaters have before.

That is a very good point about BoJo. HW husband has apparently had multiple affairs, he’s still in work. There’s a multitude more examples.

His job was to present television, lying and cheating doesn’t affect his ability to do that.

BordoisAgain · 05/06/2023 19:38

It's not just that he had an affair

It's not just that he had an affair with a much younger man

It's about what happened between him first following the boy on twitter when he was a 50 something man and the boy was 15

It's that he lied to his employer

It's that he conducted an affair at work on work premises with a junior colleague he had a hand in employing

I really struggle to see how any parent could ignore or minimise an adult man contacting and exchanging private messages with minor(s). Regardless of how innocent it's claimed to be it's a massive safeguarding issue.

Paul2023 · 05/06/2023 20:20

I’d find it hard to believe Holly had no idea. She knew Phil and his family very well. I’m not saying she did know, but I’d be surprised if she didn’t.

And if she’s been such a good friend for so many years, she’s now dumped him in his hour of need. Is that what friends do? Abandon you when things get tough?

Holly has been hanging on Schofields coat tails for years. This Morning, Dancing On Ice.

Willitheanicesunset · 05/06/2023 20:32

She doesn’t have a house next door to him in Portugal, I don’t think. She has a house a few doors down from Peter Jones. I know as I’ve been to both houses…all I can say is Peter Jones, his wife and children are lovely people.

Twonewcats · 05/06/2023 20:32

Iwasafool · 05/06/2023 15:17

Was anyone groomed? Was he 14? Is it odd to help someone you know get a job, I've done it several times for one of my kids or one of their friends. So waiting till he's of age is seedy, wow maybe we should all be looking to not wait so we aren't seedy. Of course it's a bit awkward as then it would be illegal.

Hahah, yeah, cos CLEARLY I was saying that he shouldn't have bothered waiting Ffs.
Hanging around him and getting him a job in order to keep him around until he's of age is whats seedy, obv.

You helping your kids or friends isn't the same as befriending a child you don't know, then hovering around them and doing lots of favours until they're of legal age

I have read various things which seem to debate what age tthey actually met, but there are photos of them when MM was 14, and PS followed him on twitter when he'd just turned 15.
My question mark is because there is a bit of debate over whether he was potentially younger than 14, some saying MM is as young as 10 in a group photo.
Then plucking him out to get him a tour of the studio, then a job on a major TV show, appearing on screen and on stage at the TV Baftas is way more than a runner would ever usually be given.
There have been quotes (many years ago) that he'd take young gay men under his wing. And a runner who was struggling with his sexual identity was his mentee.

There's no evidence that PS was much help in getting any other kids jobs, so it seems that it was specifically MM.

PS had a flat in London (has been discussed for many years), which he took young gay guys to, and Eamonn has this week confirmed that to be true.

That's not even comparable to a caring mum helping out her kids or their friends.

Kittykatmeowzers · 05/06/2023 16:06

@Iwasafool
nope, they didn’t….if anyone other men praise him for it (that gets on my nerves) but it’s never seen as a negative thing from a male perspective. Women haven’t commented negatively about it either.

This is homophobia IMO. Women with young men are never lambasted either, look at lovely Barbara Windsor and the like

Homophobia?!?! Ffs If he had admitted to having had an affair with a teenage female whom he met when she was 14ish then gave her a tour of the studio then got her a job and took her for lunch etc etc until she was of legal age, I think people would be even more angry!

This is the thing that some people seem to keep ignoring - that they didn't meet when he was 18 and have an affair, it's what happened during the years before that people are questioning.

So what? What the hell has it got to do with you?
Consenting adult males can do whatever the fuck they like. You might be clutching your pearls but for most sane people this is just blatant homophobia.

And the thing that never rings true about this grooming bullshit is why would he bother? London is teeming with young gay men. Loads of gorgeous discreet escorts. Or a quick swipe of Grindr and he's sorted.
PS was closeted and he lied. He wasn't the first and he won't be the last.

That bitter little turd Eammon Holmes is asking any man who has ever kissed PS to contact him at GB News.
This is a targeted witch hunt.
Christ almighty even Clarkson has come out in support of Schofield.

Willitheanicesunset · 05/06/2023 22:20

When did Eamonn say that? About the flat? This has been online for years, don’t blame Eamonn!

Softoprider · 05/06/2023 10:46

I think what has happened is awful, I think the media has had its frenzy - probably still having it, but hey why does she get a get out of jail free card? Why does he get the sack and lose everything while she gets off scot free?

I think it's time he was left alone now, but she should not be here on our screens this morning as if nothing has ever happened.
TV is awful you are either the dogs bollocks or you die as we have witnessed.

Get out of jail card?

Are you mad? For what exactly?

Jeez, sometimes I feel like I've entered the twilight zone on Mumsnet! 🙄🤣🙄🤣

That comment in isolation isn't my point though. It was about how he lied for years, and the rumours which circulated are turning out to be true.
As i said previously, if he had been doing everything that it appears with much younger women, it would be equally grim. Nothing to do with the genders in the slightest.

You can believe it was all lovely and consensual, I believe it wasn't. That certainly doesn't make me pearl clutchy, and I haven't resorted to sneering back at you for having a different opinion.

?? I don't get your point. He said it last week, and i didn't blame him, I was pointing out that rumours are now being confirmed as true.

SlipSlidinAway · 05/06/2023 12:37

But what did you actually want her to say?

Sorry , hit post too soon.

I'd like her to have said something along the lines of .... Hi everyone, it's lovely to be back. I'm sorry to see there's still so much speculation and gossip about PS. It's getting out of hand now and no matter what your own personal views, this is turning into a witch-hunt that needs to stop. He hasn't - as far as I'm aware - broken any laws so there's no need to turn him into a hate figure. Let's try to be kinder and let the man have some privacy to deal with what has happened.

This! I agree totally!

Ladybug3 · 05/06/2023 23:42

“Are you ok?” Who does she think she is? 😅 She thinks she’s the nations Mum and not some irritating airhead.
