I always find for a couple of days after time change, it’s all weird like it should be an hour later than it is

HannahDefoesSpringFling · 25/10/2026 19:36

I hate the clocks changing. The spring one really does me in.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 25/10/2026 19:43

Thank you for the new thread @MewithME .

capamapadapa · 25/10/2026 22:37

I pushed myself to go out for a walk (only manage once or twice a week) then got a few bits at Tesco before watching Fargo with DP. Trying to overcome the overwhelm of working out which health problems I should try to focus on next. Does anyone else here have investigations ongoing? I'm doing things privately as I gave up on the NHS long ago...

MewithME · 26/10/2026 07:50

Hi @capamapadapa I need to make a doctor's appointment and then that will end up with a bone scan appointment, but I can't face it just now so I'm putting it off. It's horrible trying to find out what's going on, especially when you have existing conditions which are a tangle anyway.

It's a horrible wet morning here but I am WFH today with DS kicking around which I'm hoping won't be too distracting. I've got loads to do. I will try not to think about how I'm feeling I think. Day by day approach just now. Work is relentless as always.

Today is knitting and apple collecting. Wet and miserable weather so definitely one to stay indoors, warm and cozy ☕

Kettle's on, coffee @MewithME ?

JewelleryCat · 26/10/2026 09:27

How did everyone cope with the storm? Still in a partial power cut here

Oioiqueen · 26/10/2026 09:38

Had to drop DH and kids into our nearest town this morning as the kids had medical appointments. Arrived at the hospital too early as I was accounting for traffic or the weather for my blood test but they didn't make me wait which was nice. However I'm now over an hour early for my PET scan as a result. I did debate going home but figured just get the long drive down the motorway done. I'm now chilling in the car but will go in 45 minutes early in the hope they'll get me done quicker. Then got an even longer drive afterwards to go and hide at my mums as I can't be around kids or pregnant ladies for 6 hours afterwards. Going to feel a long day today, especially as my body clock thinks I'm still an hour ahead. Anxiety is through the roof as unfamiliar driving and scans do that.

I'll have a tea no sugar in about 2 hours please if you can keep the teapot warm I'm only allowed water since midnight. Maybe chuck some biscuits on there too please?

Swanhilde · 26/10/2026 10:06

Tea is no problem @Oioiqueen , pot is always warm. However, no biscuits I'm afraid. Sugar is no good for my nervous system, could offer cheese and oatcakes? 🧀

Blessed are the knitters! When DGD was born all the secret knitters in her Daddy's department bombarded them with gorgeous little cardigans...so much lovelier than anything you could buy!

Peppermint tea please!

I’m just lucky the tv and wifi stayed on! The estimated time is still this evening for full power back

mugglewump · 26/10/2026 10:13

I'm up and had breakfast. Will take the dog out and do a bit of housework before senior pilates at 2pm.

I always make a point of being early in case the person before me is a little late, or the hcp is running ahead (only works at gp for some reason).

The first cup of tea will be lovely!

Actually sounds cosy! You just need some bread and a toasting fork!

It’s just so weird how some have no power, some have partial and others are absolutely ok

CoffeeBeansGalore · 26/10/2026 10:48

Morning. Damp and grey here. Power still on. Another yellow warning for tomorrow.
We used to have an open fire in our previous home. We do miss it. You get a different depth of heat with a real fire or wood burner. Don't miss the dust or the chimney sweeping though.

Yes a chimney is like a big storage radiator and it does warm up the fabric of the house.

Until last year we had one of those fake coal gas fires which chucked out a lot of heat. It got condemned by British Gas so in haste we bought an electric flame effect fire. It's got fake coal and a reservoir which emits steam from underneath through an LED set up which has a sequence of lights supposed to look like flames. Well it doesn't! What a waste of money. The steam from the underneath looks like smoke and it just resembles a fire made with damp coal. I swear I can taste it!

If I'd known I'd have got one with plastic coals and a light bulb! The perils of buying online.

Swanhilde · 26/10/2026 12:24

We have an open fire, but rarely use it. I did say to DH last night that we should get some logs in just in case 🔥

Storm B didn't affect us, just v windy yesterday. We were yellow for Storm A but no bad effects that I know of. Mind, I haven't been out the house since Friday 😆

Two big bags of apples chopped and in the freezer. DD mentioned making an apple pie so I've left her a few and if she changes her mind they'll go in the freezer too 🥧

Chopping apples has taken it out of me so I'm back in bed with a cuppa and will stay here for the afternoon ☕

Chefpig · 26/10/2026 12:30

I was trying to get ready this morning to work remotely and failing hugely, bled through three pairs of underwear in fifteen minutes and ended up in the shower more times than I care to remember, so ended up ringing in sick to work. Not ideal when I was off for a month in the summer with stress and depression, but these things happen I suppose. I've had a weekend of it too. Ruined so many soft furnishings. Bled on my bed today despite wearing very adequate protection. I was a mess.

I had to go out to get more pads and pet supplies, so hopefully I won't leak, but I'm pissed off I had to stay off work. Luckily, I'm up to date with everything work-wise.

Huge sympathies, been there and it's horrible. I hope you are getting some medical help. 💐
