Am enjoying my handpicked and dried chamomile from the summer. Worth the faff as it really does calm my stomach. Managed half a banana at breakfast - took 1hr and just had 2 squares of a beef longhorn ravioli with grated cheese on for lunch after a slow plod with the dog. Bed for the rest of the day for me.

Oioiqueen · 29/10/2026 13:11

Afternoon everyone. Decaf tea please Swanhilde.

Feeling headachy and sore today. Not sure if it's 48 hours post treatment or if DS has finally infected me with his lingering cold. Just feel a bit sorry for myself whilst looking around at the house mess from two kids on school holidays. Ignoring it all as I'm hoping the energy will return when I can pace myself again once they are back. Thankfully they've both been very laid back about a chilled out relaxed week, I think it's done us all a world of good.

TodayIsabetterone · 29/10/2026 13:41

Ahh @Oioiqueen I remember well the messy house at the end of half term days! It always get sorted eventually so a good plan to ignore it today whilst you're under the weather.

Well done on your tea @HisStericalTestes and managing small amounts of food today.

Ahh sorry you’re sore after the osteopath @TeaAndStrumpets definitely take it easy today.

Still havent managed my walk as I keep getting distracted by other things and now the fatigue/ pain is creeping up a bit so probably not a good idea tbh. Dippy dog has gone back to sleep after the excitement of seeing off a workman ( albeit through the confines of the lounge window as she can’t be trusted to behave!) so I’ll rest for a while instead.

That is really not a lot of food! I suppose sometimes it can be a fine balance. It does take the joy out of life, being so restricted but there's so point making yourself worse. Hope it gets sorted out.

You tea sounds lovely!

@TodayIsabetterone She'd go mad here, we've got builders down the garden with every imaginable bit of kit. Constant beeping!

DD has made apple pie - I can confirm it is delicious 🥧 🤤

And the Christmas cake is in the oven! She's had a busy afternoon baking and is now off to work for the late shift ... Oh to have her energy 🫩

Slice of pie anyone? 😋

Can I ask what does everyone talks to their partners about apart from work and the kids? (I had to give up work a few years ago and we don't have kids). DP works full time so his job is one of our main topics of conversation but I can find the lack of variety difficult while feeling I don't have much to contribute given my lack of life! I've been trying to encourage DP to develop some mutual friendships with me but he's very anti-social which I find frustrating. The social sphere is one of the few areas in which I can still function to some degree and it makes me so sad feeling as if I"m missing out on that too - I do go out without DP sometimes but he doesn't seem to enjoy a night in on his own that much either so it makes me feel a bit guilty (not that he tries to ruin it for me or anything - he's supportive). We talk about politics a bit too but DP just gets wound up and we have very different views so it doesn't really foster cohesion!

MewithME · 29/10/2026 21:37

Yes, nearly Friday thanks @TodayIsabetterone . It's been a hard week here. Exh has been obnoxious. We had a row and DS was upset by him last weekend so not much half term help. I've been rushing back from work and having to make him some lunch and worrying about him being alone so much. Plus he's done no revision.

It's been a bit rough. Work has been ok ish at least.

@capamapadapa I don't have a partner but I suppose I am out and about with my job a bit. Me and friends chat about stuff going on with our families and kids and chat nonsense about telly and food and health stuff.

Lots of my friends are struggling with things just now.

Sometimes I am glad I'm single because the energy needed for a relationship is hard when you are ill. But it is also lonely.

Morning all!

Hope you are all well.

I have been pondering your post @capamapadapa and wish I had an answer for you. DH and I have been a couple since late teens and were friends before we got together. We are never short of conversation and DH regarded his job as something boring he did to fund his hobbies!

I have such a restricted life nowadays but I have always encouraged his hobbies so at least one of us has some fun. I like to have small projects and I research things to do with them. Local/family history, sewing, mending. I save them up for when DH is out and bore him about them when he comes home 😉Likewise he does research on the history of his main interest and gives me a blow by blow account of his findings so we are well matched in the boring department.

I think we would manage without talking about children/grandchildren, there's a lot of other stuff. You must have other things you both enjoy? Something like planning a project, big or small? I am looking into hydroponic gardening at the moment. I probably won't actually do it but I have enjoyed learning about it.

There's a million things you can do for your own enjoyment, you don't have to entertain your DH. Occasionally I get very down and feel like a burden but that passes when I'm less fatigued.

Sorry for my ramblings. Just a few ideas!

MewithME · 30/10/2026 07:39

Morning @TeaAndStrumpets . Off to work for me again. I'm really late today. I've just had my coffee and I am struggling to face the day. I'll be late now if I don't get a move on.

The commute is absolutely grinding me down just now. Anyway I'll be back to celebrate it being Friday later.

Have a peaceful day all of you x

@capamapadapa whilst we do have young kids I am not working at the moment. I however do some voluntary work (I run a Scout section and do things with school) around my fatigue levels. I also share a sporting hobby with DH so we'll talk about things we've seen in the news or wind each other up about how poorly their team is doing.

TodayIsabetterone · 30/10/2026 10:09

Morning all
A rough night for me where I just couldn’t sleep for some reason and then the pain kicked in too. Eventually took cocodomol and got to sleep but feel pretty rough today and visible gave me a 1 so I’m listening and trying to rest.
Bit frustrating timing as my DS is coming to stay tomorrow and is bringing a friend with him so I’m feeling the pressure of needing to be well enough to cope with hosting a visitor I don’t know! It’s only one night as they’re travelling back up North. Hopefully if I fully rest today tomorrow might feel better!

I was pondering your question too @capamapadapa as it is difficult I feel when you don’t work or get out much. I had to give up work due to ill health and sometimes do feel I’ve nothing that interesting to chat about with friends/ family and I must bore everyone sometimes!
DH is medically retired from work too and we've been together for decades so I guess as we’re in the same boat it’s maybe easier. We tend to also both have little projects or things on the go that we chat about and we do have separate interests that give us space from each other.
Then we try and have a few things we both enjoy doing be it just pottering in the garden, deciding what to plant next or walking our little rescue dog when I’m able. We try to find a few things we can watch on TV together in the evenings that we’ll chat about. Nothing thrilling but we seem to muddle along!

Not boring! You are describing a happy life!

My MIL was the most miserable glum person I ever knew. She wasted her life moaning and worrying about things she couldn't change, and I doubt she had an optimistic thought in her life. Hard work😏

TodayIsabetterone · 30/10/2026 12:31

@TeaAndStrumpets Ahh that’s lovely our middle aged pottering sounds nice! We drive each other nuts sometimes of course and some days more space is needed than others. 😉

I forgot to add we both do daily wordle/ connections etc so we always have a little chat about that over a coffee 😂

Yes people like that are hard work aren’t they? I have a relative like that and I did comment once to DH that she’s like an emotional vampire who sucks the joy out of the room! Exhausting for everyone else!

What was so odd was her sister was witty and cheerful and really great company, so it wasn't something in their upbringing. I think some people are just like that. (Mind you, her sister never married. Hmm......)

Stressybetty · 30/10/2026 16:32

Afternoon, DH and I probably talk about our dogs and his MIL, also he talks a lot about the computer game we play and politics. He talks a lot, to himself as well if no one's around and it's quite exhausting to concentrate so I do tune a lot out! Still moving things around garage and house and unpacking. It's like that game where you have one free tile and have to move all the others around to make the picture! Managed a solo IKEA trip last night along with a frustrating new GP admin visit for MIL. Had flu jab yesterday also and feel awful, always hits me hard. Finished work early and back in bed. Over the road and down a bit have men in doing something out front and it's been about 2 weeks of this big ride on digger thing running, drilling noises, their radio and men talking. Just constant noise, fed up of it.

Hopefully the workmen have the weekend off! I've got a muttering DH too, I'm a bit deaf so pay extra attention just in case it was addressed to me 🙂We probably are as bad as each other!

Glad your move has gone reasonably OK, probably tiring though.

Torchout · 30/10/2026 18:36

I moved from the chair to the sofa. I slept well ladt night hormone but for for some reason I have no energy. Early tomorrow because I have treatment.

Oioiqueen · 31/10/2026 09:25

Morning all, very grey here but isn't meant to rain today apparently.

I am off on a 'girls morning out' with DD today to our nearest city. However my anxiety is through the roof. I haven't been too bad recently but it's making me want to bail this morning. I won't let her down, I'll push through it as I've promised her and it was my suggestion anyway. I've had a few days of feeling sorry for myself after treatment this week with aching joints and muscles and I think it's accumulated to the point of making me less resilient than I am usually.

We go on another day, hope you all have lovely plans. If you don't rest up and snuggle down.

Swanhilde · 31/10/2026 09:36

Rest day here. Went shopping yesterday morning, something I rarely do these days, and I'm worn out. It was great to actually go into actual shops but I'm paying the price today. Oh, and I stayed up far too late to watch the Traitors final ...

So it will be a day in bed with plenty of tea ☕

Have a restful day all 💕

TeaAndStrumpets · 31/10/2026 10:37

Morning all!

Almost sunny here, but cold. The heating stopped working last night. After much reading of the manual DH deduced the problem was a dead battery for the water thermostat sensor. You'd think that would run off the mains but no. I suppose it makes the sensor cheaper to manufacture but some sort of arrow saying Here Is A Secret Battery would have helped!

@Torchout hope your treatment goes OK today, and you can have a better week.

@Oioiqueen you are a star dragging yourself round the shops! Hope you have some easy wins re shopping. It's always nice to arrive back home and go through the loot🙂Enjoy your weekend afterwards.

@Swanhilde it is years since I've been proper shopping! I tell myself one day it will happen. I've only been to the builders' merchant this year and the odd garden centre. I need to see tiles and floor coverings next but not sure I can stay upright for long . I find online shopping is a poor substitute! Enjoy your rest and☕

TodayIsabetterone · 31/10/2026 14:21

Afternoon all
Not too bad here. Getting ready for my boy to descend with his 2 band mates for the night. Although DH is in charge of changing beds. I’m on instructions to stop and rest!
They're currently on the ferry back from France ( and we are South) so will be lovely to hear how their gigs in Europe went! Then DS has to fly back to Scotland tomorrow to show his face at his actual job but always lovely to see him.

Well done on the shopping @Swanhilde I only manage one or two shops very occasionally too but always get very excited at actually being in a real store rather than online shopping!

Hope you manage the morning @Oioiqueen be kind to yourself, you're doing an amazing job.

Oh how frustrating re the heating battery @TeaAndStrumpets and well done to DH for figuring it out.

Hope things settle for you @Torchout
