I've never watched these big series, which should I start?

Which are worth watching? Any others?

Breaking Bad is great

Don't start with Succession, it will set the bar waaaaay too high.

I don't think I have whatever Succession is on, sadly.

The West Wing is my favourite tv show of all time. But coming to it for the first in 2026 it might seem a little dated.

Line of Duty.

Breaking Bad was good but it was very obvious that the show had become huge so they kept writing it when they shouldn't have. US series are so long.

Is breaking bad gruesome?

Second line of duty. It’s super entertaining and easy to follow. Plus you get more engrossed with each series. Me and dh loved it and we came to it way after everyone else.

I absolutely love breaking bad. Binge watched it for a second time a couple of months ago when I was ill. The character development is off the scale amazing.

I think Narcos is fantastic too

Walking dead was fantastic the first few series and then it suddenly got really vile and disgusting - quite which series I don’t remember

If you watch Breaking Bad, you need to add Better Call Saul to the list too.

I'm rather jealous that you've not seen Breaking Bad, Better call Saul etc. They were brilliant. Not found anything better.

I haven't. Really, hardly any of the really popular ones. Worth it?

Line of Duty is great in a more twists and turns conspiracy thriller. Breaking Bad more of a family / crime/ epic morality tale.

ER is good, watched it years ago. May have dated??
Walking Dead. Tried but couldn't get into it.

Others to try: Six Feet Under, The Affair, Better Call Saul.

Mad Men

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are brilliant. I've watched 3 times.

I also loved The Americans and Animal Kingdom.

Mr Inbetween is also great and a much quicker watch.

ER is my favourite of that list. Re watched it this summer.
Line of Duty is very good as well.. a lot shorter.

Yup, it's brilliant. As is the US version of House of Cards (the UK version is a bit dated now).

If you want a UK series there's nothing finer than Happy Valley IMHO.

I really wouldn’t bother with Walking Dead it honestly gets very old and repeatable very quickly!

Breaking Bad is brill, I am rewatching with my son currently.

West Wing is high up on my ‘one day’ list.

Oh and Line of Duty is great too, def have to do that.

I did love Walking Dead but it’s so harrowing and so many episodes - would feel a bit daunting.
I think Line of Duty is pretty manageable and excellent. Also good to watch the series one after another as you don’t forget the ongoing plot lines.
West Wing is my favourite- but also not sure how it will have stood up.

Breaking Bad is fantastic. I was bereft when it finished.
Better Call Saul is brilliant too.
