I've never watched these big series, which should I start?

Of that list id say: Breaking Bad and ER

For me - Bteaking Bad was just mind bogglingly good, even though dark. It didn't depress me - until maybe later stages.

ER is a fab series - very likeable characters.- I should watch it again soon.

I disnt like West Wing or Line of Duty that much - but they've been enormously popular so that may just be personal taste.

Walking Dead - liked it to start with but later on i just found it gave me nightmares. Couldn't even try to watch it again.

Yes - harrowing is the word. With young kids I personally wouldn't. Even tbo Breaking Bad is gruesome I found it manageable whereas Walking Dead made me anxious!

Line of Duty is excellent but only for the first 4 series I'd say. Someone mentioned Happy Valley earlier which was brilliant.

ER is superb. The absolute best tv I've ever watched-although it did go downhill from season 12. It hasn't really dated and the characters were so full of heart. Honourable mention for The Pitt which is essentially ER 20 years later.

i would die on is Homeland. It's so, so good that DH and I will dip into an episode when we're bored and end up watching the whole series for the umpteenth time.

I would add House to the list. But I’m not interested in most on your list so might not be the right audience.

Oh and Longmire and Yelllowstone.

Slow horses is probably the best show still being made.
Breaking bad is a whole other level of amazing.
Line of duty was good for a few series but got a bit repetitive.

I would start with Breaking Bad, but also add Boardwalk Empire to the list.

I wouldn't bother with ER now. Very dated.

Sopranos is amazing. I am quite jealous you get to watch it for the first time. That said, I enjoyed it more the second time - watching it recently at a similar age to the main character the depth felt much greater. I am not really into violent tv and don’t watch tv much, but I thought Sopranos was amazing. (You’ll probably find it a huge disappointment now 😆)

So far of all the suggestions, all I have watched is Happy Valley. Possibly The Affair.

I wouldn't bother with any now except maybe Breaking Bad-all the others seem very dated, not that there's anything wrong with nostalgia, but I mean as someone watching for the first time. I guess with programmes like Person of Interest, it doesn't matter if they're old, as the subject matter is arguably exactly current, before anyone says that's as old but apparently very popular now.

Me and my Dad used to binge watch Breaking Bad til 4 in the morning. It's the only programme to have me literally leaping off the sofa with the tension and suspense! It's hard going in the middle and a test of endurance but the best thing I've ever watched.

Schitz Creek is wonderful too.

How about Orange is the New Black?
I think it’s the only series that I’ve watched the whole thing (all the seasons) 3 times ☺️

West Wing is brilliant but you have to watch it during GWB's presidency, while hoping and praying for Obama to ascend and bring salvation to the American People.

Line of duty also excellent.

I didn't like Breaking Bad at all.

I just watched ER from the beginning.

West Wing is always good.

But The Pitt instead of ER.

Unless you can't get out and do anything else, I wouldn't bother with any. I'm saving all these things until my 80's

Still have a complete set of Downtown Abbey DVDs to open that I was gifted 20 years ago! Just feel life is too short to get tied up in a long series.

I realise I may be in the minority here! 😊

I'm rewatching ER and it's surprising how much isn't dated about it. Some of the women's clothes look old fashioned, AIDS is a topic, Clooney had a weird moment about a gay character and tech isn't as prevalent, other than that the medical setting makes it timeless, it's great fun to watch,the medical dramas are absorbing, there's character development and some story lines but it's all quite fast paced and hurly burly. It's great to see cameos from famous actors at the beginning of their careers. We've seen Ewan Magregor, Lucy Liu and all sorts of actors you recognise but so young!

I love love the characters. Love them.
