I've never watched these big series, which should I start?

Which are worth watching? Any others?

Really love West Wing and watched it many times. One of my favourites!

I'm retired so can crack on through them if I'm not doing other stuff but if you are at work and/or have DC you could probably only manage 2-4 episodes a night, I would have thought so something like ER would be a bit of a mission

I think The Wire is the best tv show ever made. It’s a novel, in tv form. I’ve watched the whole thing 4 times over the last 20 years, so about once every 5 years, and it gets better on every re-watch. Do watch it, but I don’t suggest you start with it because it ruins most other shows by comparison.

If you haven’t seen any of the big classic series, I’d start with the Sopranos as that was, arguably the first great series.

First series of LOD is a bit slow in places but stick with it because it becomes dynamite.

Of those, I have only seen Line of Duty. I watched the whole thing from start to finish for the first time about two years ago. I enjoyed it, it was edge-of-your-seat TV at times. I believe there's going to be another series soon, if that would influence your choice OP.

The West Wing is still one of the best things to come out of the USA ever and I don't find it particularly dated, maybe the current occupant of 1600 should watch it to see how the job should be done!

ER is my all time favourite - absolutely love it!

I don't think it would be dated, it's classic! I rewatched it a few years ago, took me about 9m I think

I watch TWW once or sometimes twice a year. I think I’m up to well over 25 times watching the whole box set - last time I watched the whole things in 15 days that’s my latest record. It’s my favourite tv show ever!!! (A tiny bit dated in the first season possibly but you get over it by the second) honestly it is such a brilliant show OP do watch it! (& the sopranos - that’s my number 2 show!)

From your list breaking bad is the best. But it's spin off, better call Saul is even better.

You should also add The Wire to your list as well as Game of Thrones.

I think the Wire is one of the best tv shows ever written and Game of Thrones s1-4 are just excellent

If you haven't come across Cracker (UK version) I'd recommend it. Probably some of the best TV ever made.

I’ve been rewatching line of duty with my partner who’s never seen it before and am thoroughly enjoying it! He is HOOKED and keeps banging on to everyone how great it is 😂

The Red Riding Trilogy

Breaking Bad was just tv perfection! You go through every emotion watching it. It's also inventive and original.
One of the seasons ended with a huge jaw-dropping revelation while a character was sat on the toilet! Hilarious but so intense. There were so many jaw-dropping moments actually.
You're making me want to watch it all over again! I will one day. Just superb!

I love the West Wing. It is quite dated, particularly when you look at the first series, but if you can get beyond that, it’s worth it.

Line of Duty is good, and a good time to watch before the next series comes out.

Greys Anatomy is a good binge, and I’m currently working through The Americans years after everyone else.

For something lighter, Modern Family is a very easy watch. Schitt’s Creek too.

The West Wing without a doubt. It’s still politically relevant and such good quality tv. You just have to overlook the noughties sexism.

Strike is excellent.

As an adult l have never watched a film. I have no interest in them at all. I cannot sit still just watching something for over two hours. My family & friends talk about film stars & l haven't the faintest.
