I've never watched these big series, which should I start?

Which are worth watching? Any others?

I couldn't get into Breaking Bad. Watched a series and a bit.
Line of duty is brilliant.
I've never seen the West Wing but would love to, also Mad Men

No, having lost interest fairly quickly first time round (early 20s; only on once a week), I've been hooked.

Interesting largely to watch how women in their 40s (like me)look without things being done, when we're so used to actors being tightened.

Sons of Anarchy was good too, but it def wouldn't have existed without sopranos.

Ooh, Boardwalk Empire too. Steve Buscemi is phenomenal in it. Dh's favourite, whereas I think BB.

I loved Breaking Bad and watched it all years ago. I have never watched any of the other shows you’ve listed. I do not watch much tv I struggle with concentration and for some reason tv is difficult for me.
when I see people enthusing about shows I am very tempted to give it a try because I did enjoy Breaking Bad so I may love the others if I could only get started!

Mad men was excellent.

Similar time, but much lighter, the marvellous Mrs maisel.

My husband is the same, can probably count on one hand how many tv series he’s watched to completion, and Breaking Bad is one of them (the others are Top Gear, Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm 🤣🤣)

The Sopranos is amongst the greatest TV series of all time but it really depends what you're into. It's not for the faint-hearted but then neither is Breaking Bad.

I can also recommend The Wire and The Shield - two early 2000's crime dramas. The Wire was a huge critical success but I think The Shield is an underrated classic with probably the best ending to a long-running TV series that I can ever remember.

I was coming on to say Homeland, but see a couple of people have beaten me to it. I hated Breaking Bad and Ozark - watched the first couple of episodes of each and gave up. I loved Line of Duty. Also Spiral is fabulous, if you don’t mind subtitles. Also enjoyed Happy Valley and Blue Lights.

Ozark - good but too stretched out.

Mr Mercedes - don't think anyone else has mentioned this one but its brilliant. A Stephen King book that actually translates well to TV

If you don't mind a bit of sci fi, Fringe filled many a weekend in the early 2000s. Like a 21st c x files.

The Handmaid’s Tale - harrowing at times but my favourite series ever

Fauda on Netflix is pretty gripping and an excellent drama IMO.

English subtitles with the original languages is the best way to watch it.

Breaking Bad is pure brilliance. Another one not mentioned yet is Killing Eve. Also brilliant.

I don’t watch much tv these days so haven’t seen any of them. Back in the day I loved Six Feet Under, Ally Mcbeale, Angels, Teachers, This Life. I like Schitts Creek and other comedies and I’m probably too much of a lightweight for the crime series.

West Wing is brilliant. I’ve cycled through the whole series many times, it’s very fast paced and is at once dramatic, comedic and philosophical. Fabulous performances from Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford and many others. And gives you hope for the future… maybe.

Breaking Bad is good, the first season is superb but it does get very dark later on. Some seasons are very violent.

I would add The Americans to your list, genius tv show, clearly done on a budget but with amazing writing and actor performances, makes you question the meaning of life.

I’d skip the Line of Duty, I don’t see what all the fuss is about, it’s really not that great. I’d watch Homeland instead, it’s a lot more compelling.

I agree with PPs about Homeland, it’s the best series I’ve ever watched. I did love Line of Duty too and can’t wait for the new series!

I’ve got four episodes left of Breaking Bad. I’m watching it now purely because I’ve came so far, I felt it ran out of steam a few series ago. It started off great but then I started finding it quite boring. Line of Duty is good. Best things I’ve watched are Dowton and Game of Thrones, also watching House of the Dragon now

Homeland was great apart from the hanging - that was too realistic and will haunt me forever
