What did you/your family consider a treat growing up that really wasn’t?

I’ve just randomly remembered that when I was younger me and my sister thought it was the most amazing treat to have our mum’s bath water after she was finished with it. She didn’t even use bubble bath so it was literally just lukewarm water but we absolutely loved it. This was in the early 90’s and we had regular hot warm bubble baths which makes it even stranger that we were so pleased by using mum’s old water!

Magnum ice cream

This ! Granny had the Corona man every week she had 6 bottles we thought she was so rich ( compared to us she was) ours was just Christmas . And scraps from the chip shop with chips . We were told they were good for you much better than fish ( and free ) dad had fish

They were the best times but I don't think we realised it.

Super mousse. Frozen mousses with a little cardboard lid that you were supposed to (I think) defrost before eating. I could never wait long enough and so ate them as a semi-Freddo.

Broken biscuits.

Oh yes and eating the left over icing sugar for the cakes!

Picking the carcass after a chicken dinner, picking the turkey giblets at Christmas,

A box of chocolates! Milk Tray, Dairy Milk or Black Magic!

Us too. We went to the local restaurant either the Indian or the Beefeater once a year I'm sure it was my mum's birthday.
We were living the dream!
Fun times. So wish I could turn the clock back.

Once a year in a grotty caravan near a rainy British coastal resort we’d have holiday cereals. So decadent!

Oh yes, it was one tin between 6 of us 🤣

Yes!!!! Always on Mondays - I think the day my mum went to the post office for the child benefit. Me and my brother used to see who could make it last the week 🤣

Chocolate covered raisins at Easter or Christmas in my grandmas fancy glass bowl!
Staying up on a Friday evening to watch Robot Wars.
Being allowed to go and pick up the paper from the newsagents at the end of the road by myself or deliver a card to someone who lived on our road. I felt so grown up.
