My 3 yr old could run like the wind, you would be amazed at the speed. With a few seconds headstart I absolutely could not catch him, he was agile like a monkey and could climb extremely quickly so could scale a fence or crawl under a gate in seconds. He had some close calls and this could so easily have happened to us.

Really hoping they find him, his mum must be going through absolute hell.

This is my worst nightmare as a mum to an autistic kid. We do use reins in certain circs and I don’t give a fuck if they’re unfashionable. We wouldn’t use them in a playground though. My brother (also autistic, very profoundly) was also a bolter and they can just move so fast.

The Nora Quorin case has haunted me - I cried at my desk in the office when they found her.

My hope is that the noise from the searching has caused him to hide and that he will be found now it’s light again.

Because it’s a local story. As desperately sad as it is, children who run and go missing for a period isn’t uncommon.

There don’t appear to be suspicious circumstances which might warrant national interest or the need for it to be reported nationally. It’s simply a case of a local child having bolted and not been found.

I think a missing three year old is more important than the Ed Sheeran headline but the BBC evidently disagree.

@Never2many i would agree if it had been a few hours but given it’s now overnight as well I think it’s tipped into national and urgent news TBH.

The water thing is a massive worry, there was a really sad case in the Easter holidays where a little girl ran off and drowned in a pond.

Hopefully he’s hidden somewhere and nodded off.

We used them when our toddler was a little younger and would run off. But we would take them off for the park so I don't see how they could have helped in this situation.

I used to put an AirTag on my youngest if we were going to busy, crowded places (airports, theme parks etc) we didn’t use it generally at home as she wasn’t a runner and AirTags don’t really work around us anyway (very rural). She was a bit of a monkey about finding the tag and pulling it off though. We would reason with her, promise her an ice cream if she kept it on etc but I can imagine it might be harder with an autistic child, possibly with sensory issues.

I must correct you on pet microchips though, you can’t track them. You can only scan them to read owners details. Not useful for lost pets.

Oh gosh, if that’s true re the grandad that is really sad. I have a relative that went missing due to a mental health crisis. The police found her very quickly in woodland via a helicopter and thermal cameras. If they haven’t found him yet, I’d have thought he’s not in the open. You just have to hope he’s hiding in a building somewhere.

Yes you’re right about the microchips, only useful if found. With all the technology that exists nowadays you would think there would be something to help in these dreadful and sad circumstances. Thank you for not thinking my comment was ludicrous.

No, it was his grandad. Multiple witnesses saw Noah run off. Grandad was in absolute bits, it’s horrific

There are hundreds of people still looking for him with another meet to search at 8am here.

That means nothing. Noah could have run off to play and then been taken or fallen and hurt himself or worse.

My friend has twins and the little rascals used to run off in different directions!

And some young children (not mine!) seem to have incredible stamina for walking

Try telling that to his parents. Most (normal) people are interested nationally and are praying for a good outcome.
