Doesn’t take long for the speculation to start does it? From reading reports on social media it seems Noah was with his grandad who tried to catch him but fell in the process. It would have been a busy time given the school run so I can see how he could have been missed.

Armchair detectives need to take a day off.

I really hoped I’d wake up to news that he was found.

I read that the Grandad ran after him but he fell over and by the time he got himself up the little boy had gone from view.

Its so incredibly sad but the public have been out in their hundreds, apparently over 1000 people went last night at 8pm to search.

Why isn’t it front page news on the BBC?

Agreed. It doesn’t seem to be top news with any of them. Sky news I had to scroll down, DM it’s not even a headline. This should be all over the news. Not some bloody celebrities nonsense.

My grandson was a bolter - he even escaped from the house and ended up in the middle of a busy road when he was about 2 (thankfully he was fine!) We had to put a lock on the outside of DDs gate - contact alarms on her front door and used backpack reins when out & about. They’re fast little buggers!

I read a post on X earlier from someone whose little brother had wandered off years ago and ended up 5 miles away…..a toddler!! Luckily he was fine too - unbelievably.

I hope little Noah’s parents have the same outcome this morning.

You really believe theres nothing wrong with coming on a post about a missing child and speculating about the involvement of family members?

A lot of children simply refuse to wear them. If they refuse, you can’t really drag them along the ground, can you?

I am not sure two cases in thirty three years is a strong argument for all three year olds (some of whom will start school just a few weeks after their fourth birthday) to be on reins.

Anyway, the child appears to have special needs which would probably have led to a lack of danger awareness.

So hoping that he was just curled up somewhere overnight after becoming exhausted. Hopefully he’ll be found this morning. Also can’t believe it’s not front page news this morning. His poor parents must be frantic. My dad is part of the coastguard and was out searching till 4am

Oh god that's so awful if it's true. My dad would never forgive himself if this had happened when he was looking after one of my kids. Poor man. It was just an accident.

Gosh, poor parents. Is there water near by? I was always telling mine at this age not to eat the ‘bird berries’ and he must be starving… Missing 3pm yesterday, I don’t fancy his chances now. I was hoping he’d be found within a few hours. Poor kid and family. I don’t think grandad will ever forgive himself even though it wasn’t his fault 😞

I used reins on all 3 of my children. I think they’ve made a comeback (or else never properly went away). The trick is to use them as soon as the child can walk a few steps (so 12 -16 months or whatever) so they get used to them. They then become as routine as putting shoes on. I used them on my very placid child as a precaution, and on each child. I’d never not use them. Having had one extremely strong-willed child, even they wore them without a fuss. The basic non-backpack ones are easiest IMO and less of a faff to put on.

I was so hoping they’d found this little boy overnight. I hope that he found somewhere to sit or sleep that’s concealed and that the fact he’s not been found is simply because he’s not responding to his name. Fingers crossed that they’ll find him safe and well as it becomes light. Sometimes fear immobilises even the most responsive child, and many children might be afraid they were in trouble so continue to hide.

I tried them on DD circa 14 months, as soon as she could walk. I don’t think there is a trick; either they wear them or they don’t. Anyway, I hate these suggestions that the parents or carers were somehow at fault. James Bulger was a couple of weeks shy of turning three; this child was three. Most three year olds will be starting school in a few months and past reins. They are only really useful if your child is prone to falling and stumbling a lot.

Ik, toddlers can bolt so quickly. We had a moment where dd ran off in a park. The poor man.

The first thing I did on waking was check this thread to see if he’d been found.

Praying that he is found now it’s light and has been curled up somewhere all night. His poor grandad too, I know my dad would never forgive himself if this happened to one of my children on his watch.

I’ve also just read they had police divers and sonar out on the water for hours, is it safe to assume then that he’s not in there? 🙏

Im so shaken up by this story, can’t keep thinking about anything else. I have a 3 year old boy myself, who- although verbal, also have communication problems. I desperately wish for the happy ending 🙏🥺😭

Absolutely terrifying, I can’t begin to imagine how the parents must be feeling and I pray he is found soon.

I’m not a parent but I do wonder why we don’t put AirTags or some sort of tracking device on children, at least until they reach a certain age/communication ability. I know it sounds very big brother but we hear all too often of missing little ones. We microchip our pets for this reason.

My brother-in-law was the firefighter who retrieved the body of a non-verbal autistic 12 year old from a river in our area a couple of years ago. It was heartbreaking.

Am I crazy to wonder why this isn’t done?

I hope they’ve checked drains I saw once a video where a woman was filming as her child walked behind her he stepped on the corner of an unsecured drain cover and promptly fell down and the cover sprang back up if you hadn’t seen it you’d have thought he disappeared in to thin air , he was ok just fell a short way down.

I would also totally be up for this! On children up to a certain age, not sure what age but would certainly cover a 3 year old.
