And if he had been taken shortly after going out of sight he could be in a car and anywhere in the UK by now. Get his photo out there nationally.

This is what that government beeper should be for, not BBQ warnings.

By now he could be out of the country hopefully the channel ports were told last night.

Not dismissing how awful this is, but there are circa 75,000 children that go missing every year (sadly not far of 1000 are still missing 12 months later); do you propose an alert for all of them?

The process works as is really- police were rightly straight on it locally, hundreds upon hundreds of local people out searching its all over social media and news the bredth of the UK. Realistically the majority of people would report seeing a young child on their own if they hadn't heard about this anyway.

Yes- transport is notified as part of protocol. Trains for example have been going slow through the area in case since.

Oh god, this is awful. I cannot imagine what kind of a night that family have just endured.

Why the hell wouldn’t you have an air tag on such a vulnerable child?

My Grandson has one on his teddy in case he ever loses it and that’s a bloody toy!
This isn’t going to have a happy ending unfortunately, that poor boy.

Becsuse you dont think its going to.happen to you ?
Whats the point in specuating?

Frenemies · Today 08:38

zipitpls · Today 07:57

Yes, wrist straps too. The difficulty is if the child fights them.

I don’t see any harm in them, but road traffic accidents involving children as pedestrians are extremely rare. Child pedestrian fatalities have fallen by 85% in the 2020s compared to the 1980s which I believe, and reins were far more commonplace in the 1980s

Then we had James Bulger which was a terrible tragedy but I don’t think in isolation is a particularly strong argument tbh. James was on the cusp of turning three, so at what point should children be ‘released’?

Like I say, people can use them if they want to - I’m not anti reins, but I don’t like it when there’s a tragedy involving a young child and people disapprovingly talk about the good old days with reins when actually both traffic fatalities and stranger abductions were far higher at a time when reins were commonplace.

Edited

Agreed. It was the same when that poor 3 year old was thrown into the crocodile enclosure. Lots of horrible comments criticising the mum for not having him on reins. The 6 year old who was thrown from the Tate in similar circumstances would hardly have been on reins. For all we know this 3 year is habitually on reins but they were temporarily removed so he could use the playground equipment. Or perhaps this is the first time he’s ever run off and they didn’t expect it to happen. If someone reads a story and privately thinks to themselves that they will always use reins in the future, good for them. Otherwise we shouldn’t judge.

(and yes, this is mine, before anyone thinks to point it out)

There weren't as many cars in the 80s so infrastructure wasn't as developed with crossings, pedestrian zones, 20mph streets (or 30mph streets even). Speeding used to be slap on the wrist, now it's points, inflated insurance premiums, then a ban. Cars now have stop technology and sensors.
Back then if you didn't react in time, you hit the child.
We had to have the road safety adverts Watch That Child etc. The people who grew up with those are the drivers now.
There are now SO MANY cars that it's actually safer.

This is ridiculous. Do you know how many children go missing? It would be going off constantly.

Where did you see that hes been found?

AustenitesUnite · Today 08:44

From the BBC website (they've now got live reporting) ~

"People have been arriving from across the country to help, from as far away as Hampshire and Birmingham, joining hundreds of local parents, residents and community volunteers searching the area.

There is a remarkable sense of determination here, with people continuing to turn up and ask how they can help.

Search teams are being organised here at the village hall, while volunteers head out into the surrounding area.

For many here, it is deeply personal - many parents and people who know the family are among those joining the effort, united by the hope of finding missing Noah."

Wonderful to see how much help & support there is and how much people care

I can’t see anything about him being found!

WecanbeheroeslikeBowie · Today 08:46

It's on the Cambridgeshire facebook pages, found near a creek about 16 minutes ago apparently.

I think it is fairly national isn’t it? I live at the other end of the country but this still came up on my news feed within 3 hours of him going missing.

Unfortunately there's quite a few odd people around who do this. Funnily enough when asked to name their source they can't. The facts will be on the BBC or Sky news. Just ignore the ones that pop up saying he's been found, but have no proof.

Stop criticising. There's a child missing and a distraught family at the centre of all this

It's not on BBC news

It’s on my BBC news - England and Suffolk

AustenitesUnite · Today 08:53

The BBC are reporting live and they have just said

Volunteer searchers are currently being briefed at the leisure centre. A group are setting off now

That obviously wouldn't be happening if the little boy had already been found, as was reported on here earlier

It was on Cambridgeshire facebook I can't hope it was some bastard winding people up and that the little lad will be found safe.
I found it after googling has he been found yet and the title came up as part of the search.
I don't have facebook or social media it's there in black and white on the google page.
If that makes me odd so what ? I don't give a shit what some random on here thinks about me.

NoHotGirlsInHell · Today 08:54

Just woke up to this. That poor little boy and his family. Utterly horrific. I sincerely hope he is found very soon completely safe and unharmed.

We have all done silly things raising children and nothing bad happened because of luck I guess. I wouldn’t ever judge any parent for a mistake especially at the worst time of their lives.

Other sources say that he’s non-verbal, meaning he may not respond to being called etc.

He is also deaf 😔

I think the PP was responding to the post above hers, stating the little boy had been found

So she wasn't saying the story about the little boy being missing wasn't on the BBC, she was saying that there was no news of him being found on there
