I was just thinking usually you have to do something really bad to be dropped. Some crime. Not ES inviting someone who gets dropped by someone who’s not him.

Latest I've heard is a radio station no longer playing Ed sheeran's music as a mark of solidarity. Sheeran by all accounts has absolutely nothing to do with this as far as I know. It's the tour management.

Absolutely. I hate the Trump government and USAs constant war mongering, I don't hate Americans. That's just one example. It's possible to strongly disagree with a concept and still respect the people. Plus it's very narrow minded to think everyone from a country or race is in agreement. From an international perspective you all wanted Brexit.

Tbf, Sheerans tour promoter is his long term pal, sheeran owns the record label he sells music with and he is worth hundreds of millions and has a huge say in how this is run.

If he said no I want Macklemore, no stadium would have cancelled him, the profit loss would have been too great.

Well, there were actions in NI that would not have happened in other parts of the UK. Rubber bullets fired at children’s heads etc. A lot of very dodgy things were done which would not have been acceptable in ‘the mainland’, as they say. I suppose NI was (hope not is) treated rather more like a colony. It was never Britain, and I suppose we’re nearing a point where the majority of the population may not consider themselves British, as such. Of course, that doesn’t mean they want a United Ireland. People can be pragmatic about things like state provision.

Conversely, there wasn’t support in Ireland for the paramilitary bombing campaigns which murdered men, women and children. There were large peace rallies against this, especially after the Omagh bombing. Where families were shopping for back to school supplies. I cannot even begin to imagine a situation where the general population would support, and even be delighted at a brutal assault involving murder, burnings and rapes. And indeed be happy to torture these people further as they dragged their brutalised bodies back as human trophies.

We all have our pain and stories that we carry from growing up in NI. Kids don't really get a say in reactions - they have no options, blame the adults - but murdering the kids - shameful & immoral - no excuse.

Robert Kraft was born an Orthodox Jew I believe. He might not like what he heard in his stadium. Would I go to a ES concert and want to listen to politics of any sort? No thanks. Or any concert really. I want to go for the music. Artists need to tour with other artists who are like them if they don’t want political statements on stage.

Israelophobia is just a variant on an old theme. Jewish people, who are just as flawed as any other people, are disproportionately blamed and scapegoated for their flaws. The issue is not that it's wrong to say Israel is flawed, it's that the fixation on Israel above other countries who behave in similarly awful ways betrays prejudice.

The USA criticism is out there for the whole forum to view - this is the first thread in ages that has been allowed to sit in Chat.

How is it hidden if it appears in Active for the whole forum to view, like all the other threads?

I mean, the reason it got its own section was that there were so many threads that people got fed up with them dominating.

I'm not talking about MN threads (although if you quantified the amount of MN that is about Israel vs the amount that is about America or anywhere else, it would be wildly disproportionate). I'm talking about campaigns; vandalism; protests; boycotts; endless, endless discussion in political parties, universities, schools etc.

Military action has mostly stopped in Gaza, although some people are still dying. People are also still dying in Yemen and China. Do you notice widespread boycotting of Chinese goods? Are people vandalising Saudi businesses in London? No actually, no one gives a shit.

I'm not talking about whether it's bad, I'm talking about whether the focus on it to the exclusion of other conflicts and crises reflects something concerning.

I wish more people were talking about Afghanistan. Absolutely crisis situation there and I’ve not seen a single protest or celebrity yelling on stage about that.
