No one really knows what’s going on unless you have simultaneously worked and lived in Israel whilst worked and lived in Palestine and somehow have lived both lives, both on the ground as a civilian, in the know to all the goings on, and also worked at a higher government level with high access to sensitive information. Such a person I doubt exists. If they do perhaps they do know everything. And I can only assume there short answer would be… it’s a fucking mess.

I think that was my point but can’t remember exactly what I said. I am insanely annoyed about this entire thing. I don’t care what Ed or some random rapper thinks about a crazy complicated geopolitical issue. My point was meant to be sarcastic - I don’t see why anyone is piling onto Ed to be some sort of peacemaker or whatever they think his responsibility is as someone who sings nice songs that some people like.

The world is very much (my world anyway) set up that you are either on the ‘right side of history’ or you are wrong and bad and cancelled. I am somewhere loosely in the middle and have very complicated feelings about this mess as someone born in Israel, raised in the states and now raising Jewish children in the Uk who have been the victims of some horrific bullying these last few years. I don’t actually think there is anything bloody Ed Sheeran can add to my thought process and would rather him just keep to singing slightly boring songs.

I feel it's always been a bit like that in the US about internal politics, it seems you have to declare yourself a Democrat to be allowed attend an award ceremony or go on main stream chat shows. It seems to have spilled over to other countries and world politics now. I think it was the same with the whole trans and non binary movement a few years ago, every celebrity had to make a statement.

There's something really off about all of this but it can easily be explained. The hard left are busy telling the right they are the big problem. That they are racist and fascists. They support genocide, hate 'brown' people etc. So why is it OK to make women, Jews, worried citizens, patriots feel like they are something on the bottom of the left's shoe? They aren't morally superior but weaponisers of terrorist attacks to say everyone who doesn't agree with them is complicit and guilty of not paying reparations for colonialism. They march along with their megaphones and keffiyehs saying nazi scum. Fascist scum off our streets. They don't care about accurate history because that upsets their petulant and arrogant moral crusades.
