Influx of far-right posters

Why has the site suddenly had an influx of far-right posters? Almost overnight.

Is this a concerted campaign by the black shirts from Dover, Reform or Tommy ten names to infiltrate women's SM?

Yeah, MN is a big site and the media pays attention to what happens here, so some of it (by no means all) is bots trying to build up an idea of whatever they want - eg London is full of migrant crime, Muslims are too powerful in the UK, schools are 'transing' kids or whatever the culture war talking point is.

How about an influx of “far left” posters? Are they not “misguided” too?

Incidents that made me nearly combust were a poster shouting “Links or it didn’t happen” at me after the Cologne sex attacks and another saying that their sympathies lay equally with the man who died bombing the Ariana Grande concert as with the young victims.

Any extreme is unpleasant.

OP is it really that unconceivable to you that other posters may hold opinions quite different to yours without being bots or paid agitators?

There's been a huge news and social media focus on boat crossings/irregular migration as well as the subsequent crimes that have ensued. Add to that, since Twitter became X people have got more used to being outspoken without being censored for wrongthink.

I mean Reform are leading in the polls, you really don't need to pay people to hold these views, and express them online - that cannot be surprising surely?

Do posters identify as far left when they reply to you ?

I myself am pretty far left, but I am not a Communist, nor a full blown socialist. I am a Progressive Democratic Socialist I suppose. It can be difficult because the same terms can have such a wide range of meanings once we move away from the dictionary.

Someone asking for links is likely just wanting to see if there is evidence for a claim made. And someone supporting a bomber, or having sympathies for him, might actually be a very conservative theist.

I think the increase in racist posts (and I mean racist not right wing, which is a legitimate political position) is because people are now emboldened to openly share these thoughts.

Not too long ago it would be "I'm not racist but" now it's "well if it wasn't for XYZ ".

Concerns about managing immigration are legitimate. I think those concerns span across left to white. But the legitimate concerns are like all Christmases at once for the racists, especially those who needed to hide it behind a thin veneer previously. If you ever want to test someone's racist credentials start an innocuous conversation about gypsies and travellers, you'll find many people won't even have a mask to drop.

What is really frustrating me beyond belief at the moment is the appropriation of women's safety to pedal a racist mantra. Do you fuck give a damn about violence against women and girls. Where have you been since the dawn of time when women have been harmed. Where are you when it's Dave at number 42 who the whole street knows is abusive. Where are you when you are frequenting sex workers. Where are you when you are wolf whistling, yelling obscenities at teenage girls. Where are you when you are coercing your girlfriend/wife for sex. Where are you when it's just banter.

But no, women's safety is only important when you can point to someone else. You don't give a fuck about women, you never gave a fuck about women and you still won't give a fuck about women.

So, as I actually slept last night and rarely go into these sorts of threads, we have one person/user name that posted some stuff that we do not know what it contained as it was deleted, and this means there is an influx of far right posters?

Yesterday we had a poster explaining at length that they found the violent assault against a woman in the Reform conference very satisfying. They gave a lot of political reasons for this.

I do not think MN is quite as left leaning as it once was, but I think there has been a political shift more to the centre and its always been the case that many Labour voters hold what some would consider right wing views when it comes to immigration

and also long time posters maybe not quite as left leaning as they once were as we are not quite so ideological as we have matured

Exactly. Look at the reaction of Farage, Anderson and Jenrick to the assault of women at their conference.

There is a big difference between far right views and right wing views. Most of us can tell them apart. There has definitely been an increase in the former. I pointed to an example earlier in the thread.

(Mind, I can't swear there weren't deletions of any other posts on that thread. But it was the long nutty one I was talking about being deleted.)

I’m not ‘far’ right but listening to policies and seeing how the world is run I’m definitely more right than left.

Some polls even have the Conservatives in 2nd and Reform in 3rd
