Influx of far-right posters

Slightyamusedandsilly · 07/09/2026 08:57

Why has the site suddenly had an influx of far-right posters? Almost overnight.

Is this a concerted campaign by the black shirts from Dover, Reform or Tommy ten names to infiltrate women's SM?

TikTok & X posts are getting a lot of support for the protests

And how many of those are genuine do you think? I don't go on TikTok, but X is absolutely awash with bots.

Things are being done. The numbers are coming down.

@TemperanceWest there were various people live streaming last night so I don’t think they are bots. Lots of people are very agitated.

1dayatatime · 07/09/2026 20:05

What even is "far right "?

Stuff that was viewed as normal 15 to 20 years ago , like secure borders, no illegal migration, following the law rather than your own views, a balanced budget and an ambition to do well is now seen as far right.

I am not saying there isn't support for the protests, there is.

@nomasno unfortunately I think we are at the point where a number of people would prefer the immigrants to drown. Have you not seen the comments on the news articles about the Palestinian family who drowned recently? It’s shocking & quite unsettling. It’s become acceptable to voice very racist thoughts.

Who exactly is to blame here if tragedy occurs if the migrants choose for themselves and their children to cross 130 miles across the English Channel from Normandy to Portsmouth in an open inflatable dinghy.

I mean I tried to cross the channel in a pedalo and it all went horribly wrong then that is my decision and I shouldn't expect others to put their lives at risk in trying to save me.

No it really isn't. Masked protests led by a convicted criminal who calls the left "hyenas" and "savages" are the sort of people we are talking about here. The people who set fire to houses and hotels.

But they would do that even if you didn't expect it. The RNLI would help you. Other vessels would help you.

@TemperanceWest I think a lot of people who would previously have disagreed with the protests are just fed up. They can’t voice it in real life for fear of being accused of being a Reform voter. So they post on MN because it’s anonymous. Propaganda online is fuelling the fire & making otherwise ‘nice’ people get on board with the idea of protesting. So no I don’t think they are bots. Also we tend to surround ourselves with like minded people. It’s why Brexit was a shock to me. I couldn’t work out who would even think it was a good idea.

As it turns out Brexit has exacerbated the immigration problem that Brexiteers assumed Brexit would solve. Not that Farage would ever admit that.

@Nightnova · Today 09:21
I just ignore the racist thickos. You can't argue with stupid,

A bit further on..

@Greenseacat · Today 10:29
Yes, I have noticed the Reform supporters/racist/xenophobic idiots are out in force.

@Slightyamusedandsilly · Today 09:47

Yes. It's the working class who aspire to be middle class.

3 comments right there looking down their nose at anyone who is right of centre/right wing... (And insulting them...)

Are YOU OK @YourWatermelonship You appear to be not so accidentality missing posts...

Also though, I am not just on about this thread in particular, (regarding the 'people have been lovely and fluffy on here' comment! 😂) There is a general 'right wing people are thick racists' vibe on MN from some. Don't deny it.

And the idea from some that right leaning posts must be bots (as a few posters have claimed) is laughable. As I said. God forbid some people don't have left wing views on here! Shock

Also I was making the point that it's farcical that the OP created a thread with faux shock and outrage that some right leaning people post on Mumsnet. Oh sorry FAR RIGHT according to her. Wink Even MN have confirmed it's nonsense!

OP has gone quiet too.

I think there was quite a lot of reflection further on in the thread and your take might change if you read it all

I am not far right but have been a Conservative Party Member since 1978. I've always been surprised at how left leaning a supposedly middle class forum is.

Why? Are all middle class people supposed to be Tories?

@1dayatatime I suppose lots of people do risky things which require intervention. Should we refuse to save someone’s life because they have done something risky? Mountain rescue, coast guard, paramedics all attend things that might not have happened had the person behaved in a more sensible manner. Morally yes we should rescue people. Whether we should then keep them in the UK is a different matter.

Yes, I’ve seen that. Many people have lost their humanity. In an ideal world there would be no boats but wishing death on people is heinous.

The problem is the system we have does make people die at sea. And it’s getting more dangerous now it’s from much further away.

But that then creates a moral hazard where people do ever riskier things because they believe that if the worst happens then they will be rescued by RNLI, Mountain Rescue, for example people attempting mountain climbing in trainers and t shirts.

But my point is that if I attempted to cross the channel on a pedalo and subsequently died, then whilst not celebrating other people might view the drowning as a consequence of my own foolish actions.

Similarly if an overloaded dinghy crossing the channel resulted in drownings, again whilst not celebrating, would it be reasonable to view such drownings as a consequence of their own foolish actions?

Is it only most of the right wing posts that are bots then?

Or are most of the left wing posts bots as well?

Nah, why am I even asking, or course it's only right wing posts that are bots/fake/trolls, because anyone posting anything that is not left wing is obviously FAKE, or a bot, or a troll!

THIS is why it's impossible to debate in an articulate manner with lefties.

They didn't need to, it's pretty bloody obvious that's what they meant.

These posters who blather on about bots, only say it's bots when the post in question is saying something they disagree with. And it's always left wing people insinuating right wing posts and threads are bots, (because Heaven Forfend it's an actual genuine poster on Mumsnet.) Don't deny it.

5128gap · 07/09/2026 23:07

converseandjeans · 07/09/2026 19:55

@5128gap I don’t feel there is currently a political party which has the traditional working class as a priority. Andy Burnham seems to be talking some sense. So fingers crossed he can continue to get people on side. For some reason a lot of working class people are looking to Nigel Farage for an answer. He’s managed to convince them that the only reason for the economy struggling is immigration. Elon Musk promoting this rhetoric on X doesn’t help.

I don’t think everyone is sure of who they support politically & so they don’t align with left or right wing. They just want to know they can afford a house, go on holiday & afford an occasional night out.

I live with a younger version of Jeremy Corbyn - verging on being a communist. So I’m aware of what being a socialist is. DH protests against the likes of Tommy & Nigel. Just because we are left of centre it doesn’t mean I can’t empathise with people who have a different lived experience & are worried about immigration. Brushing off their concerns will just exacerbate the problem.

I'm not sure there is a traditional WC anymore. The whole concept of class is very nebulous with rarely any consensus on definition.
Are the WC those who don't have degrees and professional jobs but may still be on decent money? Or people living in poverty? On benefits? From deprived areas? What about trade who have a small business and a few buy to lets?
And within this broad group that no one quite agrees who belongs to, they will be many and varied interests. Some will want a party that will protect welfare. Some will want welfare cuts so they pay less tax. Some will want policies that protect the wealth they have or aspire to. Others will want a fairer distribution of wealth.
Some will blame immigrants for all ills. Others will be perfectly happy in diverse communities and not see what the fuss is about.
Some WC people are from new communities themselves.
So rather than no party representing the WC, I think its more a case of no homogenous WC for any party to represent. So parties proceed according to their ideologies and people from across the social spectrum vote for whichever they agree with.
I agree Burnham is talking sense. And many people seem to be responding positively. But the days of a party for 'the working class' are over I think.

I get accused of being a bot a lot and I’m definitely not right wing.
