Whilst we are on the subject, I am compiling a list of private school parents who find borders unnecessary, etc.etc. and are willing to pay for one (maybe 2) children arriving on boats to go to the same private school? Ideally it would be together with accommodation? Otherwise it is the thick, uneducated Reform/Restore voters who will have to bear the brunt again - what with 35 children in class and council housing shortages.

It's not clear from that picture who was who. At that protest in 2007 there were anti facsist and anti immigration groups present.

I do not like seeing masked hooded protesters of any persuasion but those in the bottom right do not look very intimidating.

They were chanting "stop the boats" so I'd assume it was a protest about immigration/people coming in on boats?

It appears these men are followers of Danny Tommo and Patriot Platform.

The more colourful comments on here about the kind of people who attended are probably accurate.

I’m sure it’s supposed to be some kind of show of strength but it does seem to have been a peaceful and short protest.

Technically they’ve not done worse than other protests that block roads and disrupt others (Just Stop Oil, ER, Palestine Action etc) so if we believe in freedom to protest we have to either allow all groups however abhorrent their views or none and police all the same.

They weren’t there long enough for the police to get additional resources or to need to respond. To me it was a very unconvincing show of strength.

They seem to be a group set out to stir up hatred and are potentially dangerous but I’d be very surprised if the security services haven’t already integrated every local group. They don’t seem the brightest bunch of blokes.

I saw that. A young woman being assaulted, hit, manhandled, her hair viciously pulled, an elderly man trying to hit her with a walking stick. All because she was heckling Farage who mocked her and laughed on. Nasty, sickening video.

Depends which ones you meet. These men and a majority of asylum seeking adult men from rigid extremist regimes are very similar, right wing, regressive, backward views. Often very angry and not averse to using criminality to achieve what they want.

I live in an area with pretty much zero foreign population (we are poor and in the middle of nowhere). We have 35 kids per class and council houses shortages but that's because councils have been starved of funding since austerity began.

Maybe they might ban the wearing of balaclavas and face coverings now which they haven't done so far.

They could be anyone, ‘far right’ people or people pretending to be ‘far right’ to damage the cause of people concerned about mass immigration. It’s not difficult to arrange a protest pretending to be supporters of an issue, when in fact you are there to smear that cause.

Fair play to them. They are peacefully protesting.
