I quite agree. I wasn’t making a personal pop at you, I apologise if it came over that way.

I just wanted to highlight how it IS a regular sight and we now regularly tolerate and accept masked individuals protesting weekly in our cities (the photo I posted was on Tower Hamlets Town Hall steps), dressed in what appears to be some kind of intentionally paramilitary style uniform, but get in a lather about the same behaviour at Dover.

Neither is right and both should be policed firmly - whether it’s a black balaclava or a keffiyah pulled up under the eyes. The minute someone hides their face at a genuine protest, it suggests they are there for nefarious reasons. This isn’t Russia, Afghanistan or China.

So we hear that people coming over in boats are dumping passports etc. to hide their identity but we are also saying that protesters can"t hide their identity?

Are they trying to land at less populated areas to escape detection?

What percentage are intercepted? Isn’t it nearly all anyway?

Of course none of that had anything to do with the unwinding of the biggest global credit/property bubble in history and interest rates starting to return to more historical norms? It was all Nigel and Brexit? Sorry but I just find that sad and funny at the same time.

Dover is heavily monitored and is very busy. There are many areas along the Kent coastline that the small boats might try to come in undetected but I wouldn’t think they would choose Dover for the reasons I said.

The protest took part at Dover because there is a short term processing centre there. And
that is where the Border Force take intercepted boats.

@KeepPumping also I think the majority of boats want to be intercepted.

There might be trucks and vans waiting to whisk them off into the dark economy and modern day slavery, but I get the impression they want to enter the asylum system.

Wouldn"t this be a good use of special forces on down time, they could use "soft power" like they did when they went into Peterhead prison in the 80"s, drivers get beaten up a bit, the people off the boat get detained and processed properly, it would be like a light workout exercise to keep them warmed up. Thatcher would have done this by now actually, people would be less keen to be involved if the SAS were likely to pop out of nowhere?

I go on counter protests- you cannot cover your face at all. Face masks would have to be medical grade with a reason to be accepted. I’ve seen people on both sides be told to uncover and even pulled aside to be told more firmly or told they would be arrested.
I’m being pedantic but the face covering restriction is part of the agreement on order that police impose as conditions on protest or counter protest. So as this was never run past the police no conditions were imposed so perhaps they couldn’t be told about these as official protesters came be.

They said it wasn’t a protest too so maybe police either weren’t sure what they could do or just tried to maintain peace.

I’m sure there will be something prepped for next time - I bloody hope so anyhow.

I can't answer that question without giving too much away about my personal life. Which is irrelevant to what we are discussing.

As it happens though those arriving on small boats are taken to processing centres and processed before being moved to the next stage. Some are next sent to detention centres - those very recently reported by the BBC to be found to have inhumane conditions- yes children and women too living in these for those obsessed with it being all men. Guess this will make you happy inside then.

So you think people who drive vehicles for criminal gangs to take people off illegal boats into "human slavery" should be given a big cuddle and maybe a money voucher from the government? How do you propose to deal with this?

Not Dover. Dover Ferry Port. A very odd place to protest what they say they were protesting. And it was a illegal protest whether or not you think it’s a sensible place.

Im not the person you asked, but for me - it’s diminished my country’s place in the world. It’s diminished the British people in the eyes of our nearest neighbours. It’s caused businesses to close and out economy to stall (4-8% less growth than if we had stayed in) which has caused hardship to my fellow citizens.

Yes, the anti-immigration protests directly targeted the roads and access routes surrounding the Port of Dover, which is exactly where the Border Force initially brings asylum seekers intercepted crossing the English Channel

It was a daft place for that particular protest. The protest was illegal because it hadn’t gone through the proper process and the masking was intended to intimidate . Are you ok with all that?

Well it says they were at the Port of Dover. How far away are people talking about anyway, it’s just a port.
