Were some MPs unhappy with the result? Yes. Were some of those Labour? Yep. Were some of those Tories? Yeah. Did the Tory party lose its best people in the Brexit fallout, leaving the dregs to fight over power like cats in a sack, dragging the country down with them? Oh yes

Were many people angry when it became obvious that Farage had lied to them about NHS funding during the campaign? Of course. Were many alarmed when in transpired the main leave campagin backer had been meeting the Russian ambassador on the run up to the referendum? Undoubtedly.

Incidentally, staying in the common market was part of the Conservative 2015 election manifesto. Based on that, do you think that the Tories subverted the will of the people when they went for a hard Brexit?

I live not far. The small boats don’t come into Dover. When they are intercepted in the Channel by Border Force they are bought into Dover.

Basically an organised group was able to disrupt major transport infrastructure. This made their protest unlawful. They were completely unimpeded by police. As far as I know there have been no arrests.

Regardless of whether I agree with them or not, this is very serious. Terrorists and the like will have taken note of the police inaction and political silence.

Apart from that I am old enough to remember paramilitary militias during the Troubles. Anybody who was around then knows we can't have anything like that happening again.

And as a woman I find the sight of hundreds of masked men or fighting age congregating strategically really intimidating.

They thought they'd get away with it and they were right. As a British feminist my faith in the police is dented a little more.

This protest in Dover is a very worrying political development. For the first time in my life I am considering writing to my MP.

It's a dickheads day out. Fifteen years ago they would have been on a roof in a spiderman costume.

The whole country is poorer. Some people were hit very hard when their businesses folded. A disaster level event doesn’t have to happen to me personally for me to see it’s a disaster for the country. If you can’t see that it’s because you don’t want to at this point. The information is very clear and publically available.

It's a protest against undocumented men coming into the country whose identities we don't know hence them being dressed all in black and not able to be identified. That's what I read anyway. The protest was peaceful, no banners and I don't think there were any arrests.

The protest was also illegal because it interfered with 8nfrastructure. It also had t gone through the correct process of organisation and liaison with police. I’m glad it was peaceful, but there definitely should have been arrests (if the law were applied equally).
Odd time to protest when the ‘influx’ has been massively reduced, and an odd place to protest. I think the ‘symbolic of unidentified asylum seekers’ is probably a post hoc justification to be honest.

I don’t agree with either faction, but some seem to clutch their pearls over one particular cohort, rather than another, when both have no place dressed in such a menacing and paramilitary manner on our streets.

Why is Dover an odd place to protest. Come on, it's common knowledge that Dover has been a focal point for small boat crossings for a number of years. Any migrants that come in further along the coast are usually taken to Dover Port first before going elsewhere.

That isn't a justification for stopping travellers and workers from going about their business, nor does it make wearing balaclavas acceptable. If they're so legit, why didn't they apply for permission to March, as per UK law?

Yesterday there were hundreds of men (don't know if they were all white) intimidating the people in Dover. That is not a normal sight at protests and is very worrying.
