Nah, legal was always the problem, too many people, people on study visas bringing families etc. just nonsense, but of course the banks lent massively into BTL from the early 2000"s so no coincidence IMO, can"t believe more people don"t join the dots on this stuff, it all leads to money, debt, and the bankers. Boats are a sideshow, but the inability or unwillingness to stop the daily landings has become a political tipping point, governments have fallen on less. Australia stopped the boat crossings, we could as well.
