I’ve actually mentioned in an earlier post I have concerns around both illegal and legal immigration and a lack of integration.
I’m not against all immigration but I also see towns like Dewsbury in Yorkshire and Nelson in Lancashire which are so far from the cosmopolitan, liberal utopian idea of diversity that the senior public sector professionals I know in those areas are voting Reform.
Perhaps we need immigrants for the workforce due to an aging population but many of the areas with the highest numbers of immigrants also have high unemployment.
I’ve also expressed concerns about unvetted men coming into the country.
There is conversation to be had and action to be taken but a few blokes dressing up in black, blocking roads and shouting slogans is just noise.
Getting involved politically, lobbying, asking questions and exploring solutions has far more impact than yelling on social media or in the street.
I may not agree with most of what Rupert Lowe says but unlike the rabble-rousing grifters he has effectively used the democratic process and has a mandate from his constituents. Yaxley Lennon and Tommo make a lot of noise, cause unrest but achieve little other than stirring hatred and division.
I support the right to protest but personally believe that intelligent activism gains more support and influences the wider population better than intimidation and thuggery.
I feel the same way about aggressive, intolerant people who try to bully and intimidate people whether they are on the right or the left of the political spectrum.
